Munchkin Olympics - Swimming

Since the Olympics are starting in a few days, it seemed appropriate to enroll myself into the Munchkin Olympics through my swim school.  You know, kids start early these days!

The Olympics had 4 events and Mommy got in the pool with me to help me out.  Daddy was the official clapper, cheerer, and photographer.

First was the motorboat race.  The goal was to see who could kick the fastest.  Mommy thought that was hilarious since I haven't started kicking in the water yet!

Next was the underwater breath-holding portion.  In class, I can hold my breath 6 seconds, but here it wasn't as long because I kind of rolled over.  Hint: Rolling over in the water is the Olympic equivalent to a diver with a splash.  Bad idea.

The final event involved jumping in the pool from the side.  Some times I'm too scared to jump in by myself, but I gave a gold medal performance this time.

It was time to get out of the pool and tabulate the results.

Look - I got a gold medal!!!  Okay, every participant got a gold, but mine still meant a lot to me.

Body Parts

Mommy and Daddy like to sing the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" all the time.  I'm still struggling with a few of those body parts, but check out my level of mastery!

Mother's Day Out

This summer, my parents enrolled me in a Mother's Day Out program on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  At first, I was pretty apprehensive.  I knew there would be new people, new babies, a new environment, and Mommy told me that they would make me sleep on a NAP MAT!!  WHAT???  No crib?  That's enough to make me cry.

Sure enough, they were wise in their decision making and I had a blast there....and I even slept on the mat (aren't you proud of me?).  The other babies were great and the adults were even better.  They made me smile all the time and were always so kind and loving.

They even captured my artwork and put it together for Mommy and Daddy to see.  Check it out!

We will be starting at a new school in September, and while I will miss my friends at this program, I am excited to see what God has in store for me at my new school.

Jump For Fun!

Today was a great day.  First, I had my swim "lesson".  Mommy made me put it in quotes since we don't really "swim" (again with the quotes).  Anyways, after swim "lessons", we went to this ginormous building with tons of inflatable bounce houses, called Jump For Fun.  There was really only one inflatable that was appropriate for my age, but I had fun.  I basically just sat there and let other people bounce.  Every so often I would try to stand up, but would fall immediately.  The ground was shaking!  It was good to see some of my friends from church.  Here are some pictures.

Overall, we had a great time and I cannot wait to try it out again soon.

Splash Pad

Some friends of ours went to a local Splash Pad a few days ago and I convinced my parents to take me, too.  I think they were a little hesitant as to how I would react, but since they started me in swim lessons, I am so much more amenable to the water!

The way it works is that you run around and water shoots out from various objects.  Then the water would stop and move to a different object.  It was disappointing to reach my favorite toy and realize the water was gone, but I moved on quickly.

I'm already begging Mommy and Daddy to take me back again.  It was a blast!

My Gym

Mommy got a groupon for me to do a 4 week class at "My Gym".  We have done Gymboree in the past, which is really fun, but this was something new.  Mommy also said it was cheap!

The first day, Mommy put me in this giant ball pit.  Wow, balls everywhere!!!

During the second half of class, they bring out the swings.  Those are so fun.

Our four weeks have been full of smiles, squeaks, and some screams, but I'm glad we tried something new.
