Charlie's Room

Here are some pictures of Charlie's room. I am sure that once he arrives, it will not remain this neat and organized. Andrew has been a great sport about helping.

Newborn Class

Andrew and I had a busy baby prep day yesterday. We were able to take a tour of the maternity wing in the morning. The hospital is slowly transferring to a new wing, so we will deliver in the the new spacious labor and delivery wing and then transfer to the old wing for post partum. Afterwards we went to Babies-R-Us to get a few baby essentials. While cruising the diaper aisle Andrew spoke with Dennis Quaid. He, his wife and twins were also stocking up. Of course, I was totally oblivious that I was standing right next to him as I am checking out the latest in newborn pampers and doing my typical cost analysis. After a nice lunch we headed back to the hospital for the newborn care class. I was neutral on signing up but Andrew wanted to take the class, which I think is great. After a couple of hours of videos, there were stations set up to practice bathing, burping, swaddling, feeding, clothing, diapering and holding a baby. I don't know if he ever played with any of Amanda's dolls growing up, but I now have pictures of him with fake Charlie. We decided to attempt the swaddling station numerous times, as I have heard this is a lifesaver.

Shower with Friends

On Saturday, my good friends Cheryl, Karen, Susan and Trisha hosted a fabulous baby shower for Baby Charlie. I think it is so neat that I met each one of these girls at a different phases in my life. Cheryl and I have been friends since fourth grade. We met Trish in middle school. Susan came along freshman year of high school. And Karen, is a dear friend I met at Aggieland. The ladies really went all out with fun party favors, shower games and great hostessing skills.

Trish did a fantastic job with the invitations. Susan ordered a cake to match Charlie's room. I love all the dots.

Christmas Decorating

Well, the tree is up, our stockings are hung and we have a few nice decorations out front. I love seeing everything lit up at night. The pups even got some nifty holiday bandanas from the dog groomer when we picked them up the other day. Of course, as soon as their picture was taken, the bandanas were off since they seemed to think they were chew toys.

Sweet Child Thought

Today on our way to Theater Arts a little boy from another class asked me if I had a baby in my tummy. After replying yes, he immediately start poking on my belly. I felt around and told him to press in a certain spot to feel the baby. Then, about 3 more kids started poking me. Kindergarteners haven't really learned personal space boundaries yet. As the line started to move he looked up at me and said, "God is giving you a really big present this year." All I could think is yes, he certainly is. At this time of year, I think it is so sweet that his first instinct is to think God is giving me a present and not Santa.

The Jogging Man

Andrew has been working hard doing lots of projects around the house for me. Today he put together the jogging stroller that my school had given us. I think he will be using it just as much as me.

Fabulous Steiner Shower

The Fabulous Kinder Ladies
The fabulous Kinder team hosted a baby shower for Charlie and I today. The theme was brown and blue. I love how they all made sure to wear brown and blue. We had yummy chocolate cake and coke floats (since they are brown). I feel so spoiled by my wonderful coworkers. I can't believe how coordinated everything was. We received lots of wonderful gifts including the bumbo/tray set, diapers, blankets, clothes, books and our jogging stroller. Charlie is defintely one spoiled baby and he is not even here yet!

Surprise Shower

My wonderful class surprised me with a baby shower. Each family brought a book to start a library for Charlie. The beautiful diaper wreath is filled with rattles, washcloths, teething rings and other fun baby odds and ends. They had the kids write down their guesses for how much they think Charlie will weigh and how long he will be. Apparently he will be anywhere between 2 inches and 100 inches long. Also, he will weigh between 1 pound and 42 pounds. Let's hope he doesn't weigh 42!! There was also a really nice bottle filled with money to purchase any much needed items. I was totally caught off guard and thought it was the sweetest thing that they thought of Andrew and I during this special time of our life.

Congratulations Buck and Stacy

Last night we went to Buck and Stacy's wedding. It was a beatiful sunset cereomony at the Oasis. This was the first Jewish ceremony for Andrew and I. The Rabbi did a great job of explaining all of the ceremonial traditions and what each symbolized. The weather was absolutely perfect for an outdoor ceremony and reception.

Room In Progress

Andrew did a great job of putting the crib together this weekend. All I had to do was make the bed. Amazingly it only took him about 30 minutes!! Of course, it makes me laugh to think how excited we are to have his bed together and he won't even be sleeping in it for the first few months.

Two For One Special

Rocco 5 lbs. 15oz. Cooper 6lbs. 6oz.

Frank and Agustina welcomed their baby boys yesterday, 10/29 at 11:35 and 11:37 am. After being hospitalized at 22 weeks and then having to be on bedrest for the past 15 weeks we were all shocked and happy that they were able to make it to 37.5 weeks.

Baby Furniture

Andrew and his friend Matt picked up Charlie's furniture today. Notice in the pic who is working and who is standing around:) Now we just have to see how long before it is all unwrapped and set up.

Let There Be Darkness

After 6 months, we finaly have shutters! I am so excited to sleep in this weekend in darkness. We have had the traditional sheets up and I am sure the neighbors were beginning to wonder if we would every do anything. We actually ordered the shutters in early August, it just takes so long for them to come in.
