Tent Camping in Shenandoah National Park
Sunrise hike, Uno game while waiting for water to boil for oatmeal breakfast, Lodge lunch & games/puzzles, waterfall hike in the fog and rain, climbing boulders and trees, watching deer, seeing a freshwater spring at its source, enjoying the Fall colors

last lake visit of the season
We were so glad for the summer weather to hang on the fourth weekend of September! It was a long weekend off from school so we flew down for one last Lake Martin trip with Mark's parents. Despite going to the wrong DC airport, we made the flight after a wild dash across town to Dulles for an eventful start to a great weekend on the water. It was so quiet and still we went on 7:30 am jet ski rides, kayaked all over our slough, visited with cousins and aunts and uncles, watched football, took naps, and fished all to our hearts content.

I had such a good weekend with Mary Beth and family helping out two weeks after baby Andrew arrived. He's showered with lots of sister love. Mary Beth was impressive in her new role as mom-of-four. I loved getting time to hang out with MB, start watching/crying through This is Us with her, and play with the girls. Joining David on his weekend RUF retreat was a good escape at Camp Greystone!

Introducing our nephew Andrew
Our newest treasured cousin Andrew Ely was born August 30, 2017 weighing 10lbs, 14oz. I'm so excited to meet my nephew next week and see my sister, who is more like Wonder Woman that I ever knew! They're doing great at home surrounded by lots of love (and three big sisters).
Apple Picking at Stribling Farm, VA
We decided to head to the apple orchards a little earlier this year so we wouldn't miss the best apples since we've got other adventures planned later this month. The cool air, yummy apples, beautiful mountains and gigging tool added to the pleasant afternoon.

Alice earned her first belt in Taekwondo Friday. Our little White Belt works hard, stays strong and focused while having fun. Piano starts on Monday, yay!
Sawyer's on the run as a Whale Shark soccer player. He loves it!

Alice has such a great teacher! She's also happy to have good friends this year in class. It's her first time to return to the school she attended the year before and it's so nice to know some routine, expectations, friends and setting.

Sawyer's great start to Kindergarten!
Meet the teacher morning for kindergarten. He was a little shy, kinda goofy and really excited. On the second day of school Sawyer said, "I don't like kindergarten, I LOVE it!"
Most of the 11 boys in Mrs Callahan's class joined us for ice cream and outside fun at the house this week. He's off to a great start! I miss having my buddy home for lunch together :)
