LASIK

Keith recently had the opportunity to get LASIK!  A company came to him and asked him if he would like to trade some signs for LASIK (for the record:  trade=the best part of owning your own business).  The trade wouldn't cover the entire procedure, but luckily for us, Keith's parents made a generous donation to the cause and we will not have to pay that much in the end.   I am pretty jealous of Keith's fortune, but he has worn glasses/contacts since he was very little and I have only been wearing them since high school.
When it came down to the day of surgery, Keith wasn't nervous at all.  I was a wreck.  My sister graciously sacrificed our Friday Fun Day to watch our kids while I took care of Keith.  When we got there, they put numbing drops in his eye, did another eye exam and wrote on his eyes with what looked like a sharpie marker.  If you look closely at the above picture, you can see the tiny black dot they wrote on his eye.  They also gave Keith a Vallium.  I asked for one and they laughed.  I wasn't kidding though.

That is a picture of Keith's foot in the operating room.  I was not allowed to go inside.
Instead I got to watch the operation just outside the room.  It was mildly disturbing, but very quick.  It took less than 20 minutes.
Before I knew it, Keith was out!  And very very loopy.  The Vallium worked!  He said if he were to do it over again, he wouldn't have taken it.  He was like a vegetable.
A blurry picture, but there is Keith post-op.  It was a success.
The worst part about getting LASIK is that you can't go to sleep right away after you are done and you have just taken a Vallium.  Keith was a hoot on this drug.  He was making me laugh so hard saying all sorts of funny stuff, ranging from Keith curse words (Keith isn't a curser, so most of them are just really weird words or half-curses), telling me that Jesus is real, stuff like that.  By about 2 he was acting normal again.  He had an appt that afternoon to make sure all was well and then we came home and he crashed.  He slept from 6:30 that night until 8:00 the next morning.  He got to wear cool eye patches all day and still has to wear them at night, but he can see!  It really is a miracle.  He felt completely back to normal the next day and even cleaned out the garage and took me on a date.  He says he only takes the drops because you are supposed to, but doesn't even feel like he needs to.  I have always said that Keith is Superman and now he has the X-ray vision to match.  I am so grateful for his parents for helping out (and mine, as this is what we have asked for-for Christmas).  What a blessing to be able to see!

Leo's birthday celebration

We had a great day celebrating Leo's birth.  Of course Benson and Griffin were excited to have a birthday party.  Leo was pretty excited to have the boys wake him up singing happy birthday.

I made Leo a sippy with milk and he looked at me like I was a lunatic.  So I caved and gave him a bottle.  He drank a little and then his brothers started to hand him presents.  He liked pulling on the paper and Benson liked finishing the job for him.  He got lots of fun presents, like a ride-a-long car from Grandma P.  I was glad to find one exactly like what B and G had.  It didn't survive for Leo (this is a happy face by the way).

Our Stake had a toy exchange the night before, so we scored some free toys.  This guitar is hilarious.  It plays Love Shack, Allstar, Wild Thing and S.O.S.  I don't know why but I think that is funny.  Benson loves this thing.  Keith and I already want to throw it in the garbage.

We decided that it would be fun to go bowling for Leo's birthday party.  Benson and Griffin live for bowling and have been asking to go for a long time.  They were so excited that we were finally going.  Leo missed his morning nap, so he decided to take it at his party and sleep for the first 5 frames of bowling.
Pretty soon he was up and helping mom with her bowling score.  I think I got last place.
Leo quite enjoyed it when I let him down to explore the place.

Sorry all of the picture are so blurry.  Something about the flashing lights at the bowling alley I think.
We went to Cafe Rio for lunch.  That little Leo loves quesadillas.  He loved the lemonade too.  Then we came home for naps.

Pretty soon it was cake time.  We started Leo with a plate, but he wanted the whole cake.  So, we let him of course.  He needs some meat on those ribs anyway.

Because Leo is allergic to egg whites, I used applesauce in the cake which made it really moist and wet and delicious, but very very messy.  Especially if you were using your hands.
 I couldn't help myself.
 He was a fan.
And he loved sucking the candle.  And we loved watching him.  Cleaning up wasn't nearly as fun.

After bathing him (and cleaning the bathtub), we headed out for some delicious frozen yogurt and then Keith bought me some fabulous boots.  He thinks I deserve a present for birthing this little guy.  Yeah, my husband is the man.

We came home and put our little sweetheart to bed.  Without a bottle, and he slept all night.

And here are a few facts about our baby:
  • He has six teeth (I think B and G both had 10).
  • He weighs just over 16 lbs.  I think he will sit in a rear facing car seat until kindergarten.
  • He does not walk.  He cruises furniture and crawls like a maniac, but doesn't show much interest in walking on his own.  I think it will be a few more months.
  • He never cries.  Unless he gets hurt, then he screams and holds his breath.
  • He has never had stranger anxiety.  He will smile at everyone and let anyone hold him.
  • He loves Keith and I equally I think.
  • He learned how to climb stairs today!
  • His favorite thing to do is pull his brothers' night light out of the socket or bite his crib.
  • His favorite food is milk or juice.  He loves cheese and yogurt.
  • He is happy to crawl around and play all day.  He loves balls.
  • He loves it when Benson carries him around.  I don't love it so much.
  • He says "baba" for a bottle or sippy.  He says dada and mama.  And HI!  He looks so cute when he waves or claps his hands.
  • He is everyone's favorite.
We are so blessed to have three boys in our family. Leo is such a blessing in my life (along with Benson and Griffin).  The only problem is, he makes me want to have a million babies.

Happy Birthday Baby Leo!!!

I can hardly believe my baby is one. The best part about Leo turning one is that I know I have enjoyed every second with this sweet baby of mine. He has brought pure joy into my life. He has even made me grateful to have three boys, even though I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would have three boys in a row.

This is Leo's first picture! Man, that was an awesome delivery. To read his birth story again (written by Keith) go here.
He was a pretty puffy baby. We seriously barely saw his eyes in the hospital.
Look at all that hair. I still can't believe all the hair he had at birth.
We really had a hard time naming this little guy. I am so glad we chose Leo.
Taking our tiny little boy home.
Just chilling at home. I think he was about a week old here.
About three weeks old in this one.
I heart this picture. About one month.

Cute sleeping boy.
Waiting for Santa to come. Almost 2 months.
He loved his bouncy chair. He is about 2 1/2 months here.
Learning to smile.
There is something so sweet about taking a baby out of the bath. I seriously have at least 500 pictures of Leo in his polka-dot towel.
About 3 months here.
Poor bald baby. About 4 months old here experiencing his first ear infection. This kid has always done really cute things with his hands.
Another towel picture.
Almost six months old. That is a cute baby.
I am really going to miss those sleepy bottle feedings.
Blond rooster tail hair. 8 months old.
Bald baby again. 9 months old.
Leo loves the swings. 10 months.
And anything that resembles a ball. He throws balls all over the house. 11 months.
I wish he could wear these striped overalls everyday. They are my fav. 11 1/2 months.

Just a few days shy of his first birthday. Oh.my.goodness.he.is.cute.

I am completely obsessed with this baby of mine. He is my little buddy. Thank you for indulging me and enduring a million pictures of my third child. Stay tuned for all of the 1st birthday party coverage!

Cool Halloween Pics

Some sweet photographers in our neighborhood took professional pictures of all the trick or treaters and uploaded them to their site for free! Isn't that the coolest thing ever?! I was so grateful since my picture taking capacity generally involves a phone, a finger smudge, and/or crying children. I just love the way these turned out. They took tons of pictures and they are all awesome. It made me all the merrier that we actually dressed up this year.

Benson spinning a web.

This is Griffin's scary face. Love that kid.

Hi my name is Leo and I am the cutest baby to ever be born.

The boys' mom.
NACHO!!!!!!!!
Group shot with our nephew Isaac. Apparently he didn't get the superhero memo?! I loved his missionary costume. What a stud.

We are so sad Halloween is over, but are even more excited that the holiday season is in full swing! Bring on the Christmas music baby!

October 31

This year we left our candy on the porch with a sign that said "please take one" (cha, right?!) and went as a family to trick or treat. We went for a Superhero theme this year (that is if you consider Nacho Libre a hero, we do).
I had so much fun this year! I put my costume together in about 3.5 seconds. I had a cape and sweet eyelashes. My sister called me at about 2:30 on Halloween and asked what I was going to be, I said either Supergirl or Red Riding Hood. I went with Supergirl because RRH isn't really a hero. Hehe. Good thing my husband owns a printer and could make me some sweet stickers. And he had a blue shirt and a belt I could borrow. It just so happens I already had spandex and hooker boots. And crazy hair. And clown make-up.
My sweet little Leo finally got to experience Halloween. He wore some of Benson and Griffin's old jammies and was Batman. And the cutest little Batman ever I might add.
We of course quoted Nacho Libre all night. Complete strangers kept asking if they could get their picture taken with Keith. I am still shocked he actually wore the costume. It was so funny to see him in it. I laughed all night.
Those eyelashes felt like furry gerbils on my eyes. But they looked cool.
Last minute, Benson could not find his Spiderman mask, so he put on his Captain America one (apparently we have plenty of superhero masks lying around) and told people he was Spiderman-America. I like it.

Griffin was pretty nervous to trick or treat. He does not like spooky things at all. He does like candy, so he held my hand tight and braved most houses and begged for candy. And asked if we could trick or treat everyday. And thanked Heavenly Father in his prayers for his candy.
It was a perfect night with warmish weather and we saw tons of people that we love. Griffin asked to go home after about 30 minutes or so. We walked our entire ward boundaries (which takes about five minutes if you aren't trick-or-treating, gotta love Utah) and then went home. Our nephew Isaac came over dressed as a missionary and pulled Leo around for a while. We sure love him and are glad he will come out and play with his lame Aunt and Uncle.

We have a gigantic corn field about 10 feet from our front door. It is so beautiful . . . and kinda creepy. When we got home, Keith, Benson and Isaac hid in it and threw corn at people and scared them all half to death. We had lots of people screaming and panting by the time they actually rang our doorbell.

Leo was quite the pro at eating candy. Kinda scary with a peanut allergy. Apparently Keith and the Bishop give him candy each Sunday in class. I did not know this. :)
All I could think all day (and all holidays) is how blessed I am. I love my family and am lucky to be a mamma to such sweet and fun boys and married to Nacho Libre.
Chancho, I need to borrow your sweats.
