Twilight

Hahahahahahaha!

Some books should STAY as books! Why is there no originality in the world anymore? Every movie that comes out these days is a remake, a sequel (or prequel), or based off a book. WHERE IS AN ORIGINAL IDEA? And when there is an original idea, DON'T MAKE A SEQUEL (I'm thinking, of coarse, of movies like Pirates of the Caribbean. They should have left it alone!)

Twilight just seems silly because in books, things can work better then they can in movies. EVERYTHING that happens in Twilight (the book) cannot work as a movie. The movie comes across corny and unintentionally funny!

Just leave some books alone! They messed up Eragon. They messed up Harry Potter (at least the third one). And now they messed up Twilight.

Hahahahahahaha!

Plot: 6/10-- Yes! It is interesting! BUT AS A BOOK!
Consistency: 6/10-- They can't fit a 500 page book into one movie. It rushes into things.
Believability: 6/10-- No. No, no, no, no.
Characters: 9/10-- Vampires are pretty cool...
Script/Dialogue: 6/10-- WAY too mushy!
Actors: 6/10-- There were some good actors. But there were ALOT of bad actors.
Camera Work: 8/10-- Great camera work. The angles are great.
Special Effects: 5/10-- You might as well be able so see the wires on the actors.
Visual Display: 10/10-- Great shots of Washington's stormy mountains.
Romance: 7/10-- (sarcastic)It's a great romance movie!(end sarcastic) Hahahahahah!
Extra Points/Notes: (-2) for ruining the book. (+5) for great soundtrack (Muse, Radiohead, Linkin Park, etc.) (+3) for great scenery. Them mountains are pretty!

TOTAL: 75 points

Grade: C+

Quantum Of Solace

Before I start the review I want to show you my new grading scale. From now on all movies will be given points in each of the following categories (ten points in each category):

Plot: Is the plot interesting? Does it pull you in?
Consistency: Does the storyline flow? Or does it jump around?
Believability: Is it too far out there with stunts, proportions, timing, etc? Are there any plot flaws?
Characters: Are the characters interesting? Is there character development?
Script/Dialogue: Any confusing, crude, or un-related dialogue?
Actors: Do the actors do their job right?
Camera Work: Does the camera man do his/her job right?
Special Effects: Stunts, graphics, and camera tricks. Are they good?
Visual Display: Scenery and location is important! Is it there?
Genre: Does it play well as an action/comedy/romance/etc?
Extra Points/Notes: Last chance to get the points up. Anything that I notice in the movie that I liked.

The total will be out of 100 points, plus bonus points.

Grading Scale:

A = 96-100
A- = 91-95
B+ = 86-90
B = 81-85
B- = 76-80
C+ = 71-75
C = 66-70
C- = 61-65
D+ = 56-60
D = 51-55
D- = 46-50
F = 45 and lower

-----------------------------------------------

This should be called a ramble rather then a review. Haha. . . Anyway. . .

Please note that I am focusing more on the things I did not like. If I were to write on all the things I did like, then there would be pages and pages of rambling. That is why I created the new grading scale, so that readers can get a better view of what the movie was like, rather then getting the wrong idea from my rambling of things that bugged me. Haha.

Continuing from the hit 2006 film Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace picks up pretty much the next day. It has all the thrills and action scenes you'd expect from a James Bond movie; but does it have what it takes to live up to Casino Royale?

Out of all the James Bond movies out there (I believe this is the 22nd) I am only a fan of Daniel Craig's movies (Casino and Quantum). The other ones are too much for me with the silly gadgets and corny pick up lines. However, Daniel Craig's two films I love. They have no silly gadgets, dumb pick up lines, or impossible stunts performed. They are more believable.

Quantum of Solace is a great film. Not half as good as Casino Royale, however. All it is is a follow-up from Casino, with Bond seeking solace from the death of his girlfriend, risking his mission with revenge.

The action sequences, although superbly done, remind me too much of the Bourne movies. Compared to Casino, this one is a bit dull. It has a car chase, a rooftop chase, and the usual hand-to-hand combat/gunfire. Overall, nothing special. It's all been done before. However, the action sequences, although unoriginal, are choreographed EXTREMELY well. The actors (namely Daniel Craig) are convincable actors and do a great job playing the violent part.

Now I wouldn't say the storyline is boring; it keeps you interested, but not an "at-the-edge-of-your-seat" interested. You find yourself waiting for some action, and you find yourself waiting for the action to be over. It's not evenly spread out.

Don't pass this movie as a fail though. This is on my top ten recommendations of movies to see in 2008. It's a great film, but with a few pot holes. All movies have some. If you've got the time and money to see a movie, then this should be the one to see.

OVERVIEW:

Plot: 7/10-- Nothing new. Just a follow-up from Casino Royale.
Consistency: 6/10-- Action sequences and dialogue sequences are not evenly spread out.
Believability: 9/10-- No plot flaws that I could see. No impossible stunts or gadgets.
Characters: 9/10-- It's James Bond! An Iconic character! Lots of character development.
Script/Dialogue: 8/10-- A bit complex. You have to understand "secret agent talk". Not much cussing either.
Actors: 10/10-- Daniel Craig makes the movie.
Camera Work: 9/10-- Nothing special, which is what we like! No "artistic angels" or shakey camera.
Special Effects: 10/10-- No Complaints.
Visual Display: 10/10-- Great shots of Austria, Italy and South America!
Genre: 6/10-- It was a cookie cutter action film. Reminded me too much of the Bourne movies, albeit the action sequences were professionally done.
Extra Points/Notes: +5 points for great soundtrack, not only with the 007 theme, but also with the song played in the opening credits "Another Way To Die" made exclusively for Quantum Of Solace with Jack White (The White Stripes) and Alicia Keys. Awesome.

TOTAL: 89 points.

Final Grade: B+

McDonald's Monopoly

Heeeeeeeey. . .

So the past two weeks I've been participating in McDonald's Monopoly. Do I expect to win anything? No. It's just fun. And you never know; I could be a millionaire in the next week or two. . .

Here is the Official Game Board from McDonald's.com:
http://i.promotions.com/monopoly08/images/2008USGameboard.pdf
I have all of the standard game pieces already. . . Twice. Haha. So all I need are the rare ones. Here's the ratio of the rare pieces:

It's really easy to play. If you get a Meal at McDonald's, you automatically get 6 game piece and one coupon. Game pieces come with:

• Medium and Large Premium Roast Coffee
(excludes Iced coffee and Specialty coffee)
• McSkillet Burrito
• Southern Style Chicken Sandwich
• Big Mac
• Premium Chicken Sandwiches
• Large French Fries
• Medium & Large Fountain Drinks
• Hash Browns

The coupons that come with the pieces include free food items, or a certain percentage off your next purchase. It's a win/win situation!

I've got an extra set of the standard pieces if anyone is interested in them. Just tell me if you are.

Here's a funny video of Bill Clinton at McDonalds. Chris Farely is hilarious. Haha

P.S. The Southern Style Chicken Sandwich is not worth the money. It's a chicken patty with four pickles and a bun. That's it.

New Look!

I made my blog look cool.

I made the "Kyleism" title myself. It's based off the Killers logo:

I went to the orthodontist today. He says I'll have my braces off late November to early December. I can't complain with that.

I'm going to start my mission papers. I'm putting the availability date as January 1st. I'm way nervous. I get ordained an Elder on Nov. 9th . . . Who will take care of Mojo!?

'Ello, Chaps!

Hello, peeps. I figured it's about time I write a new blog entry. Not a movie review this time, ha ha.

Just a little update on little ol' me. Ha ha. I'm taking some classes over a SLCC right now. I hate it. It's High School all over again, except everyone is married. But my teachers are cool, and I've learned a lot. I don't get too much homework, and that's what counts right? Right.

Work is great. I'm getting a lot of hours in. I work Monday-Friday as a Kennel Tech, and every other Saturday as a Vet. Assistant. I enjoy it, I guess. :-)

I've still got these blasted braces. I go in this Tuesday to see when I get 'em off. I've been hoping to have them off before Thanksgiving, or Christmas if worst comes to worst. . . Which it probably will. . .

Music is a big deal to me lately. I've been spending a lot of time on my iTunes lately. I've been organizing it and whatnot. I've started to walk everywhere I go, and I listen to music as I walk (at least two hours a day). I haven't driven a car for two and a half weeks straight! It's a great way to relieve stress and to stay in shape (my calves are huge), not to mention good for the environment.

I've gone to three awesome concerts lately:

  • Death Cab For Cutie featuring Tegan & Sara @ Thanksgiving Point – May 26th, 2008

  • XIV Annual X96 Maverick Big Ass Show – September 27th, 2008 Featuring: Mury, The Brobecks, Innerpartysystem, Mindless Self Indulgence, Local H Ludo, 10 Years, Trapt, Atreyu, Jack’s Mannequin, Hawthorne Heights, and Shiny Toy Guns
  • Weezer, Angel & Airwaves, and Tolchock Trio @ The E Center – October 7th, 2008

  • They were all a blast. I might go to the Rock Band Live Tour tomorrow with Dashboard Confessional, Panic At The Disco, The Plane Whit T's, and The Cab. But I don't know. . . We'll see.

My favorite band nowadays is The Killers. I've been waiting for them to come into town forever. They are a way cool band. They've got three awesome albums that I listen to constantly. They have a new album coming out in November called Day & Age. You should check them out at http://www.thekillersmusic.com/

Mojo is doing great. We had some bologna the other day. I had it in my hand and she literally climbed up my leg like a tree to get to it. I have holes in my pants now. Then she's picked up this weird habit of sleeping on my bath towels. So whenever I take a shower I have to check the towels to make sure they aren't furry, ha ha.

Who ever said dog is man's best friend? I get back from class each day around 10:00 a.m. and me and Mojo are the only ones in the house until my mom gets back from work, or until I have to go to work. So we are home alone for the good part of the day. She keeps me from going insane, and I keep her from going feral ha ha.

So when I'm not at school, work, walking, playing on iTunes, or with Mojo, what am I doing? Reading my book. I'm currently reading Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Vern. I'm having troubles getting into it, but it passes the time. I'm half-way through it now, and I hope to finish it soon so I can start my next book: The Last Of The Mohicans. I'm kinda excited for it.

I'm getting a Xbox 360 this week! I've been saving up my change for a LONG time and I finally got enough to pay for half of the Xbox. I plan on getting Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Halo, Call Of Duty, Oblivion, Fable, and Assassin's Creed. I'm way excited.

But I gotta go. I just bought Indiana Jones 4 on DVD and all my friends want to watch it. So. . . Until next blog. . .

    The Dark Knight

Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace.

    Genre: Action/Adventure

Running Time: 2 hours 30 minutes

    Kyleism Grade: A

Synopsis: 'The Dark Knight' takes Batman across the world in his quest to fight a growing criminal threat. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman has been making headway against local crime until a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker unleashes a fresh reign of chaos across Gotham City. To stop this devious new menace--Batman's most personal and vicious enemy yet--he will have to use every high-tech weapon in his arsenal and confront everything he believes.

Great movie! If you don't see this, you're missing out on a big deal. There is not one thing wrong with this film. It's great entertainment.

The Dark Knight crashed the Box Office! It beat both Iron Man's, and Indiana Jones' totally gross COMBINED! $160,000,000 OPENING WEEKEND!

Heath Ledger did an outstanding job! I couldn't tell it was him. He played his role so well that I don't think they can get someone to live up to that in the third movie.

I have no criticism for this movie, so therefore nothing more to talk about. I am totally without words on this outstanding film. GO SEE IT!

    Hancock

Rated: PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and language.

    Genre: Fantasy Drama

Running Time: 1 hour 32 minutes

    Kyleism Grade: B-

Synopsis: There are heroes, there are superheroes, and then there’s Hancock. With great power comes great responsibility - everyone knows that - everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough - as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think - until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey, and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all.

Did Will Smith deliver another praiseworthy movie? Eh... Not so much. Hancock certainly is a cool film and incredibly entertaining, but is it "Will Smith cool"? No. Smith certainly is a great actor (one of my favorites), and he still does an outstanding job playing the role of a hard-living and hard-drinking superhero, but I was comparing it to Will's past movies, I think was my problem. Hancock is a funny, action-packed, and well-done film, but not the case when it's compared with "I,Robot", "Independence Day", and "I Am Legend".

The thing that got me was the camera work. I think they were trying to get a more "realistic and artistic" view, and failed. The shots are shaky, out of focus, and right up in the actors faces. It made my eyes and brain hurt a little, not to mention my friend's stomach. If it were not for this crummy approach on the camera angles, it quite possibly could have gotten an A or A-.

The language was very vulgar. Lotsa lotsa swear words. Almost in an R rating sense. The "F-bomb" is said once. "Bad A" is repeated excessively, and all the rest of the insults out there.

Overall, Hancock wasn't the only one that was drunk... The camera man certainly was drunk with the poor camera work, and the script writer with the fowl language hahaha. Maybe that's why they did it like that, in order to magnify the drukedness of the character... Poor choice...

However, if you can stomach the camera and language, do see this movie. It's a great movie other then those two things. But don't say I didn't warn you.

    -Kyle

P.S. Scroll down for my Wall-E and Get Smart review. Sorry about the tardiness on those two.

    Wall-E

    Rated: G

    Genre: Animation

Running Time: 1 hour 37 minutes

    Kyleism Grade: A

Synopsis: In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot that slowly begins to become sentient inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.

Pixar studios Once again blows away the box office. It wasn't as successful as past Pixar films, but still made a nice $63 million opening weekend. Just a little side note: other up coming Pixar films within the next four years include three new titles called "Up", "Newt", and "The Bear and the Bow" along with two familiar titles like "Toy Story 3" and "Cars 2"... Just thought you'd find that interesting.

Wall-E is great for a family audience. There's great sequences of friendly humor and awesome CG animation. The first half hour of the movie you hardly hear any human voice, except for the recordings that Wall-E listens to. It has great details (both in plot and animation) that you can look for. The moral of the story, I think, is aimed towards the Global Warming issue. That is being that we need to take better care of our planet and, in the long run, ourselves.

    Author's Note:
This movie had no "scary sequences or characters" that I can think of. So Nate, you could probably take Hannah to this. Unless Hannah thinks robots are scary...

Anyways... A great addition to the Pixar/Disney collection. If you have a family and are looking for a movie to see this fourth of July weekend, see this one.

    SPOILERS AHEAD!

There is actually live-action in this movie! Real humans! The idea is that Earth becomes un-livable, so the humans go to space and leave robots to clean up Earth. While in space, the humans become lazy and fat and... Cartoon-ish looking! It's a weird concept that is very hard to accept. When you see this film, look at the pictures of all the starship captains on the Captain's Deck and you can see the "evolution" of the humans from real life, to cartoon people.

    Get Smart

Rated: PG-13 for some rude humor, action violence and language.

    Genre: Action Comedy

Running Time: 1 hour 50 minutes

    Kyleism Grade: B+

Synopsis The evil geniuses at KAOS have hatched a diabolical plot to dominate the planet, and their plot gets under way as they attack the headquarters of the U.S. spy agency Control. As a result of the attack, the identity of every agent working for Control has been compromised. Realizing that the only way to thwart KAOS' evil plan is to promote eager but inexperienced Control analyst Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) to the rank of special agent, the Chief (Alan Arkin) reluctantly teams Smart with Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) -- a veteran super-spy whose beauty is only surpassed by her lethality. With no real field experience to speak of and nothing but sheer enthusiasm and a handful of fancy spy gadgets to help him accomplish his deadly mission, Maxwell Smart and his new partner, Agent 99, will be forced to faces malevolent KAOS head Siegfried and his evil plan.

Get Smart is a great movie for some laughs. It has some crude humor in it, but not enough to deliver a bad response. Steve Carrel is my favorite comedian and he lives up to that in this movie.

The slapstick humor in this movie, followed by the secret agent genre, reminds me a lot of the old Pink Panther films. In fact, I think they stole a few gags from the Pink Panther movies. It goes to show that a secret agent slapstick film can only go to a certain point without getting old and repetitive. (However, despite this, they are still making a Steve Martin Pink Panther sequel (which I am looking forward to.)

So even though we've seen all the gags that this movie brings before, we still are amused by watching a clumsy secret agent hurt himself while trying to look professional. That must mean it's entertaining, right? Right.

I wish that there could be more of this kind of humor nowadays. Today, the world is laughing at the crude and offensive crap that actors like Adam Sandler and Jim Carey bring us. It makes me glade that some actors like Steve Carrel and Steve Martin still have a better sense of humor (most of the time) despite what the perverted majority says.

    Batman vs. Superman

Hey guys. I found this article online a few days ago... I was entertained by it. Batman WOULD win.

The writer obviously has some opinions on other things other then Batman's superiority later in the article, so just note that this is not entirely my opinion... Feel free to post your comment on it...

By Timothy Sexton, published Jun 26, 2006 http://www.associatedcontent.com
"Superman versus Batman. Who would win? It’s been a debate going back as long as the two have been around. I really don’t see why it’s a debate, however. The answer is so simple: Batman would destroy Superman."

"It’s a simple deduction that Superman fans seem curiously unable to grasp. Let’s face facts here, people, if Kal-el, Superman’s real name, were back on Krypton, he’d probably be a newspaper reporter there, too. Why? Because on his home planet of Krypton, Kal-el would have no special powers. He wouldn’t be able to fly and see through things like he does here on Earth. He would be just another average guy because, well, on Earth he’s just another guy who just so happens to be able to fly and see through things. Superman doesn’t catch the bad guys because of superior intelligence or reasoning; he catches them because he’s faster and stronger. But back on Krypton he wouldn’t have that advantage. So, you see, whether Clark Kent or Kal-el, the guy would probably be holding the same job."

"Bruce Wayne, on the other hand, can’t take advantage of his alien powers. He is just an average guy, but with superior qualities that Superman doesn’t possess. Bruce Wayne is certainly smarter than Superman, of that even Superman fans should be willing to admit. After all, Batman must devise all his special gadgets and weapons. He also must have far batter powers of deductive reasoning since he is required to always be one step ahead of the villains. Batman, to put things simply, is a self-made superhero. Superman is a superhero by virtue of the quirks of physics."

"That Batman would have little if any trouble kicking Superman’s butt comes down to one word: Kryptonite. Bruce Wayne is so smart and clever that he would figure out a way to get a piece of that and—Bam!—the fight would be over. But I would posit Batman wouldn’t even need Kryptonite to beat Superman. Superman has superior strength, true. And that would present a difficulty, but Batman has faced superior powers in the past and always prevailed. Batman is proof positive that brains beats brawn. Look at the present situation in Iraq. Is there any doubt that the United States is the most powerful nation that has ever existed on this planet? We have more soldiers, more weapons and more capacity to utilize those soldiers and weapons on a moment’s notice than any other country in the world. And yet we here are three years later still in Iraq with even Pres. Bush admitting we won’t be out of there any time soon. (Three years in little bitty Iraq! Thank God a behemoth like China doesn’t have the capacity to threaten us with WMDs…um…well…never mind.) Do the insurgents in Iraq have better weaponry than us? More soldiers? No, they have one thing we don’t have; or I guess I should say we have one thing they don’t have. We have Donald Rumsfailed and they don’t. We have brawns and no brains and that’s why we haven’t been able to beat up on a tiny little squirt of a backwater country in three years enough to allow us to leave."

"It’s a perfect analogy to a potential battle between Batman and Superman. Superman is, after all, the iconic All-American Hero: He’s an immigrant who assimilated so completely that we overlook the fact he’s an illegal alien. He’s strong and loaded with weapons. He should, by all accounts, thoroughly be able to annihilate Batman. But he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t because Batman doesn’t fight fair and he’s sneaky and hides in the background and since he can’t rely on brawn he has to use brains. If Superman couldn’t rely on his power, well, Lex Luthor would be Emperor of the World, because Lex is far smarter. (Not nearly as smart as Bruce Wayne, however.)"

"Superman versus Batman. It is an argument that has raged for decades. Why, I can’t understand. The answer to this question is so obvious. When you go to check out Superman Returns and you’re watching how he manhandles everything in his path, just remember this: In a one on one fight, there is very little reason to suspect that Batman wouldn’t kick Superman’s big red S."

    The Incredible Hulk

Rated: PG-13 for sequences of intense action violence, some frightening sci-fi images, and brief suggestive content

    Genre: Action/Adventure/Fantasy

Running Time: 1 hour 54 minutes

    Kyleism Grade: A

Synopsis: A cure is in reach for the world's most primal force of fury: THE INCREDIBLE HULK. We find scientist Bruce Banner, living in shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote. But the warmongers who dream of abusing his powers won't leave him alone, nor will his need to be with the only woman he has ever loved, Betty Ross. Upon returning to civilization, our brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination -- a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers out-match The Hulk's own. Banner must call upon the monster he's tried to get rid of in order to rescue New York City from total destruction.

Great movie! I loved it. A must see film this year. Great come-back from Ang Lee's 2003 version of the Hulk. And I would like to point out one thing as there is a big debate on whether it is a remake of a sequel. Many see it as a sequel because it doesn't show how he gets his Hulk powers at the beginning, but just re-caps how he receives them. So they assume it is number two.

    THEY ARE WRONG!

This IS a REMAKE! The opening scene does re-cap how he gets his Hulk powers, but he gets them differently then how he does in Lee's version. In Lee's version, he sacrifices himself and gets blown by radiation; while in the Incredible Hulk, he is the experiment and is willingly (more of less) blasted by the radiation.

Who in the right mind would make a sequel to that horrifyingly horrible monstrosity of which Ang Lee made in 2003 anyway!? They'd be crazy! After hearing what the fans thought of Ang Lee's horrific version of the Hulk, Marvel Studios FINALLY stepped in and made a GREAT come-back, in my opinion. From now on, no more crap like both of the Fantastic 4's, Spider-Man 3, Daredevil, and Ang Lee's Hulk. Marvel Studios is finally putting their foot down with awful actors/directors/screen writers and making quality films like the X-Men series and the first two Spider-Man's. Ghost Rider was okay...

Anyways... Both Incredible Hulk and Iron Man certainly raised the bar for comic book films... And it's about time... So go see this movie! However, if you have not yet seen Iron Man, you have to see that first. There is a reason for that... I wont give anything away, though...

I need to stop using "dot dot dot's"...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

NOTE: This text contains some spoilers. Read at your own risk...

It was better then I expected. Then again, I didn't expect ALIENS! I think Stephen Spielberg has quite the obsession with aliens, with Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., War of the Worlds, and Indiana 4 as proof.

It was a good movie, but it wasn't a good Indiana Jones movie. You can't just throw Harrison Ford with a hat and whip into a movie with booby traps and artifacts and call it good. My point being, Indiana Jones and aliens DON'T MIX!

It opened up very promising... Then you get to the part where he survives an atomic bomb. Then it goes downhill from there with killer ants, a GREATLY exaggerated car chase, swinging in vines with monkeys, falling off THREE waterfalls in a row, and, lets not forget, THE ALIENS!

    END SPOILERS

If I were to say one thing about this movie I would say, "It was good American entertainment." If you go see this movie, here are some tips:

    1. In order to enjoy this movie, you need an imagination... A BIG one.

    2. Don't go into the theater with high expectations. In fact, don't go in with ANY expectations.

    3. Be optimistic and give it a chance. Don't say you do or do not like it until it's actually over.

If you see it with those things in mind, you'll be okay. :-)

Synopsis: Indiana Jones returns once again with his hat and whip. This time, with his newly found greaser side kick, he races his Soviet foes in the jungles of South America in search for the legendary crystal skull.

Indian Jones 4 received $101,000,000 opening weekend, beating Iron Man's $98,618,668 O.W. (opening weekend.) Iron Man still holds #1 in the 2008 box office, albeit it's been out 3 weeks longer then Indy. If Indiana keeps this momentum, Iron Man will be beat indefinitely.

    Iron Man

The best movie of the year... So far...
This movie is so much fun to watch. The graphics--HOLY SMOKES--where awesome. The acting was perfect. The storyline was greatly done. It was really funny, too. This movie opens up the "Big Summer 2008 Blockbuster Lineup" with a bang. Indiana Jones 4, The Incredible Hulk, and The Dark Knight have pretty big competition with Iron Man.

    Synopsis:
Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man...

If going to the movies is a rare occasion for you, let this be one of them. You won't be disappointed. It has a brief risque scene towards the beginning, however. Nothing extreme (undergarments), but I won't say it wasn't bad. Also, wait till the end of the credits. It has a BIG surprise (especially for a comic book fan like myself!) I wont say anything to ruin it, but lets just say Samuel L. Jackson (my favorite actor) has some more roles this year then just the rather disappointing Jumper flick. ;-)

10/10 Kyleism Stars. It meets full expectations. The only thing I could complain about is that is was too short. :-)

    Leatherheads

Leatherheads is a great sports comedy starring an all-star cast including George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski.

It's the early 1920's and Dodge Connolly, a professional football player, is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. But after the players lose their sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star Carter "Bullet" Rutherford to join his team hoping it will attract fans and cash. Rutherford is loved by thousands because of his heroic act in the war and because of his outstanding performances on the field.

Rumors arise, however, that Rutherford's so called act of heroism during the war wasn't all that true. The local tribune hires their best and most beautiful reporter Lexie Littleton to "cook Rutherford's goose" and show the aspiring football player for what he really is: a lucky coward.

Tensions rise when both Dodge and Bullet fall in love with the reporter, and when football slowly changes into the sport it is today (with a rulebook), rather than a fun, anything goes game.

This movie was great. I laughed alot. I recomend it to everyone.

    The Grand Kurfuffle!

On Friday I went to an AWESOME concert. It had a sweet line up. Good Morning Maxfield, Augustana, Hellogoodbye, and the Shiny Toy Guns.

I went with a friend. It was so cool. They gave out free all you can drink sodas!

Augustana was awesome. They've always been in my top ten favorite bands, but after that night they made it to the top five. They were having feedback issues so they went totally acoustic! It was so cool.

Then Shiny Toy Guns have always been in the top five for me, too. I've been to one of the concerts before. They make a really good concert.

I never heard of Good Morning Maxfield 'till I heard the concert announcement. They were good! I might buy their CD.

Hellogoodbye was okay. I'm not that familiar with their stuff.

Overall, $20 for four awesome bands, and endless soda? Sounds like my kind of night. I wish it never ended.

I met a way awesome girl there, too! We talked while my friend was lost in the mosh pit for fifteen or twenty minutes. We liked all the same bands and SHE LIKES COMIC BOOKS! She was the perfect person for me. But... I didn't get her number *slaps self in face*. Dang.

    Shutter

Was this a horror or a comedy? It was hilariously stupid!

SYNOPSIS: a ghost haunts a newly wed couple in their photographs. The ghost is just like the ones in the Ring and the Grudge. You've seen one, you've seen them all. What's with this Asian women ghost fad anyway? It's getting annoying!

I have nothing else to say about this movie. Just don't go see it...

0/10 Kyleism Stars. It doesn't even deserve that. It owes me Kyleism Stars cause it was so dumb... I SPENT $8 ON THIS! That's more scary then the movie was!

    I didn't post the movie poster due to it's graphic-ness. :-)

EDIT: Oh, heck! here it is.

    10,000 B.C.

I just got back from seeing 10,000 B.C. I have two words to describe this movie: Awesome blossom.

I expected it to be a lame movie. I thought it would be about a bunch of cavemen grunting, trying to catch mammoths, and running from saber-toothed tigers. I was wrong.

10,000 B.C. tells of the first legend on Earth. Civilization is only just beginning. A warrior is born and whatnot and he must save his people from evil (like in every legend). They do try to catch mammoths, and run from saber-toothed tigers (and giant bird raptor things), however, there is no grunting or, "Me make fire!" stuff. They have wars with other civilizations and fall in love and all that good stuff. I wont tell you the whole plot, though. If you wanna know, go see it.

Anyways... The graphics were top-notch, the storyline was great, and the acting was superb. This movie is recommended to anyone who would enjoy a Jurassic Park/Lord of the Rings mix.

    Bushisms

    This is soooo funny...

    Awesome little lizard...

Have you ever wondered what the worlds smallest vertebrate is? I have. And I did some research. Enter: the Jaragua Lizard...Native to the island of Jaragua (duh), a full grown adult Jaragua lizard can grow up to 16mm! It can fit on the surface of a dime! It is so small that it will shrivel up and die within seconds if left out in the sun.

It is the smallest of the 23,000 known species of terrestrial vertebrates (amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.)Pretty cool, eh? I wish I had one...
