the stockings were hung...

so for about a month now i've been working on our stockings. i was initially only making isaac one, but derik informed me that he's never had one. he's had the red furry ones, but not something personalized. so i decided that if i was making the both of them a stocking, i had to make myself one to match! so here they are! i did derik's first and i'm already contemplating doing it over... i also have to change his name to derik. afterall, in santa's book, it says "derik" not "dad"! and i stuffed his stocking with some candy his parents sent. i had no where else to put them!

woot woot...

this is my 201st post! can you believe it?! anyway, i was looking for something i misplaced today and came across this picture of baby derik when he was isaac's age. i thought i would find one of me around the same age and show you guys what we looked like. everyone has mixed opinions on who isaac looks like. so here, decide for yourself...

baby isaac...

baby mama...

baby daddy...

here are a couple more of me and isaac...they're both at about 10 months.

outright blogging...

i am taking pam's latest blogging tool and outright blogging. i say what's on my mind and you get to suffer through it :)

i love cheese. i have had an upset stomach since saturday...cheese makes it worse, but everything i eat has cheese in it. i torture my body. i wonder how many times isaac can watch cinderella and not want to be a princess. i havent gotten tired of it yet. have you ever wondered if the little mouse voices are really those little people...you know, the tlc special people, primordial dwarfs. they sound just the same. i love coupons. i should start a organizing them better. i'll do anything for a dollar! uh-oh. my stomach is feeling the cheese ravioli with four cheese alfredo sauce i just ate. knew it was a mistake. at least isaac likes it. that kid is so picky! he's way too much like his mama. he's got my taste and my temper. poor kid. how did my lips get so chapped?! i haven't even really gone outside in this snowy weather, but somehow they are chapped. i hate wearing chapstick because i kiss isaac too much. i can't stand that isaac touches my face. we are getting blemishes in the exact same spot on our chins. how does that happen? ever wonder what cinderella's last name is? i wonder if it's tremain like the stepmother and step sisters. why does my nose run when i eat? i hate doing dishes. i used to think there was no way dishes could stack up in a sink...until i had isaac. i can't stand running the dishwasher when i'm awake. it's too loud! i always think of inventions to take care of the problems i have with certain things...like every night i think of a new invention to smack derik in the face to let him know he's snoring. one night it was a fly swatter with a retractable handle. then i thought of something that automatically smacked him once he started snoring. i've gotta do something...i can't get a good night's sleep anymore! i have to have the white noise or every breath is torture. i currently have the fan and the humidifier going. and let me tell you, it's freezing in our room at night! not to mention how isaac refuses to sleep with a blanket over him. he always kicks it off. i have to make sure he's warm enough by snuggling up next to him, but making sure to keep the blanket off. you know, all my brothers and i can't stand sleeping with a top sheet on the bed? weird, huh? we just found this out about each other a couple years ago. i used to spit in my sleep. it was because of soccer. i would spit on the field since we were always outside. then i guess i had dreams about playing soccer and would spit on the field which was, in fact, my pillow. sick, huh? i did it several months ago for the first time in a long time. i think i spit on isaac's head. i wish i still played soccer. i started playing in high school just to get in shape for basketball. turned out to be my favorite sport. i'm pretty sure i sucked, but i was fast and didn't mind getting down and dirty. i was a defender. isn't it funny how high school totally defines some people? it did me. my legs were so buff in high school. they were hard as a rock! i was chubby, though. ok, i wasn't skinny...that's for sure. in weights class i could squat double what i could bench. and i couldn't bench very much at all! i could do reps of 90 lbs. then when i had to max out i couldn't get 95 lbs. lame, huh? my brother split his shorts when he squatted at school once. he is so funny. we miss uncle tj. he used to have a truck that you had to start with some weird contraption. it was a trigger. not an ignition with a key...a trigger. we called the truck "barf". my brother's friend named my car "the rectum". it was a red chevy spectrum. fitting, i assume. i had the cleanest car ever. the only reason i never kept anything in there is because i worried the stench of the upholstery would transfer to whatever i kept in there. one time i was leaving someone's house and it was really tight getting out of the driveway so i had to go forward and then back up and keep doing this. well at one point i ran into a fence. i was more mad that my purse, and all it's contents, fell on the floor of my car than the fact that i ran into a fence. that's the beauty of having a crappy car that people call "the rectum". i hate the word creamy. can't stand it. what word do you hate? my brother marc used to make this nasty sound with his mouth that would make me want to vomit. he also used to chase me up the stairs and it freaked me out! i hate when people follow me up stairs. luckily we don't have any in my house. i wonder if i ever will. i assume i will one day. maybe i'll lose a little weight if i have stairs in my house. my mom moved to a one story house this year and she said she gained weight from not using the stairs so much. crazy, huh? i want a bigger back yard. ours backs up to a creek and it's kinda freaky with a little one around. i can't just send him out there to play. maybe we'll have to fence it in. or maybe we'll move soon! that'd be fun. isaac is so cute. i love his little face. i have to finish my stocking. let me rephrase...i have to start my stocking! and finish my sister's christmas cards...and start my own. and i need to go christmas shopping. too bad i have so much to do. i just want to curl up and watch cinderella all day with little i.

sweet sixteen...

today the little bugger is 16 months! i can't believe he's almost a year and a half. ok, yes i can. afterall, i AM with him all day long, right?! he's started saying a lot more things.

he can say:
sit (all the while signing for the dogs to sit...or santa, or nobody...)
grandpa (which sounds like "papa")
who's this (as he holds the phone up to his ear)
tj (as in uncle tj...he also signs this one. lately they've been playing a lot together and isaac will wake up from his nap signing tjs name)
isaac (this one comes out really cute...sounds something like "see-sit")
oooh burr
santa (i started teaching him so he might not be scared when we make him sit on his lap in a couple weeks)
jesus (when we asked him where jesus was, he showed us a picture without anyone teaching him...strange, huh?)
door
wall (these two are super cute and new...)

he's also doing really funny things:
slaps his bum when we ask where his caboose is (thanks to uncle tj)
he loves playing with uncle tj and uncle marc's beards
stiff arms the dogs when they get too close
tries to put on his own diaper (or wipe himself...over his clothes)

kick off your sunday shoes...

**UPDATE**
i can't believe i totally forgot my favorite line of all in footloose...."jump back!" i tried to bring it back once. didn't work too well...

ever since i saw footloose when i was way too young, i've wanted red cowgirl boots like ariel. she was so cool and i wanted to be just like her. anyway, thinking back to the movie...here are some of my favorite lines:

"if you ask me, ren is a total fox" (the little girl who said this was like 7 years old)

"-either you got jumbo coconut balls, or you're really pretty stupid.
-who was that douche bag?"

i love it. they used the phrase douche bag in 1984. awesome.

anyway...i have always wanted red boots and i found some. here they are...

my apologies...

when we got out computer back i was slow to hop on it since i felt like i had a new lifestyle without it. don't get me wrong...i love my computer, but i don't love how much time i spent on it. so, sadly, my blog readers suffered. and to top it all off....dun dun dun...isaac is sick! i swear we are asking for colds in this house! we can't get away from sickies! he's been freaking out at night and crying so bad that he gags himself and kinda throws up. it's really sad. last night wasn't terrible so hopefully it doesn't get worse before it gets better...

here are some pictures to keep you entertained for a minute...
we put this teeny beanie on him and he thinks it's so funny. so when he came out to show me he was wearing it, he got distracted by the tv and started dancing with his arms. hilarious!

here he wanted the camera and got really mad when i didn't give it to him. and yes, those are sunglasses on top of his head. what a cutie.

i'm baaaaaaack...

ok so here's the verdict...hard drive totally fine! what a scare. turns out there was a corrupt file that messed with the way the computer started up. i guess it couldn't access windows so that's why we thought the hard drive was blown. the guy who fixed it said that it could have been from...wait, i don't remember. and i don't care. all i know is that my stuff is all backed up and safe and i won't be installing any programs or anything anytime soon! i hate computers! just let me blog or let me die!

not again...

ok so thursday our computer putzed out on us again. this time it was the hard drive and we have lost everything. sad, i know. but i have some peace in me. here's why...

1)when our mother board went out in april, we backed everything up which means we still have teeny baby pictures of isaac...including videos...2)derik backed some stuff up at least once since april...and 3)i normally post my favorite pictures of isaac on my blog (yay for blogs!)

here is why i'm sad...

1)most videos i just download on my computer only, which means they are lost...2)we now have to buy a new hard drive and pay someone to tell me what we already know...that our hard drive is gone...and 3)it's almost Christmas and on top of derik getting his wisdom teeth out and isaac's hospital bills, this will not be a cool one!

woe is me...

puppy love...

15 months...

hey, it's your 15 month birthday!

thumbs up buddy!

look at that face!

so the little guy turns 15 months today! he's getting so big so fast.
he's a walking fool and he jibber jabs non-stop...
he is learning something new every day...
lately he likes to help clean the floor with our dust buster. he's actually doing that right now..
he seems to be losing some of his chubbiness since he started walking...
his hair still isn't growing at an alarming rate...
he loves talking on the phone...
he loves going to the store with mom...
he can throw his diaper in the garbage (yay!)
his favorite commercial is the toyota one that goes, "save...buy...zeroooo"
he loves sesame street (particularly elmo's world), barney, and it's a big big world...
he can say most animal sounds...pig, dog, duck, cat, horse, cow, monkey, elephant, sheep, owl, rabbit (which is silence)...
he kisses barney--and all his other stuffed animals...
he's getting more brave around animals...he particularly loves the white cat across the street and my grandpa's dog, sunny...
he can show me his eye, ear, teeth, forehead, chin, nose, mouth, belly button and toe...
when i ask him what daddy says, he goes, "tutdown"--which means touchdown...
when i ask him what mommy says, he raises his hand in the air--which is what i do when i dance and say woot woot...woot woot...
he can down, set, and hut hut hike...
he loves carrying things that are too heavy for him...
he loves saying "ah ah" to all the things he knows he's not allowed to touch...
he has eight teeth--all in a strange order...

he is such a delightful little boy. i love him more than i ever imagined. so happy 15 months to you, little guy! we love you, love you, love you!

home sweet home...

i thought i would post some pictures of our house. i don't think i've posted any before. so this is what it looked like when we bought it. (and there's my new car...new since february)

and THIS is what it looks like now! we painted the house "bone" and the trim is jet black. derik also added the rock detailing on the side of the garage. isn't it gorgeous?!

here it is from across the street...

and here's a close-up of the rock work.

what an idiot...

i swear i did not steal the word stume from andy on the office! i caught up on the last two episodes today and i was mortified when andy used "stume" to jim. so embarrassed! andy and i must just think alike, alright? let me take that back...the writers of the office and i must just think alike. ahh...so much better!

the real mccoy...

luigi and toad should have told mario not to smile with a mustache...it kills the stume (my new word for costume)

yes, i have mom gut in those super high overalls i borrowed from my mom's friend...woot woot skinny cindy! those suckers were tight! i had a major wedgie and the butt pockets went to my natural waistline...

toad's head was like 500 lbs so isaac would tip over every time i put it on...plus he hated it. he hated the vest i cut out of a piece of felt. he wondered why he had to wear his onesie over his pants. two things are for sure...don't leave home without the binki...and don't let beetlejuice stand next to your one year old.

luigi looked perfect! he's got the tall skinny frame. every time i looked at him i totally saw luigi. the only problem is that he couldn't find any man overalls and had to wear some that i borrowed from someone (a lady someone). then they gave him a super duper wedgie and he was NOT ok with that so he tied some twine to the straps. think anyone noticed?

we had a lot of fun, but sadly, this is the only picture we got (hint hint ashleigh...send me the others! kellymunns@gmail.com)

fake costume...

so this isn't officially what isaac was for halloween, but my sister let us borrow this costume and it was so cute i had to take some pictures!

he was so fat with the stuffed belly!

i totally caught him mid-fall...

then he got up...such a cute little elephant bum

hahahahaha!

trying to take the hood off...i don't blame him.

farewell computer tainter...

i finally canceled my myspace account. so embarrassing, i know. i had good intentions of starting it. i guess i can fess up now...i started the account quite a few years ago just to check up on what kind of shenanigans my little sister was getting in to. it never really worked that well. i guess i didn't care that much about cracking down on her. afterall, what was i supposed to do? go tell my mom? anyway, i had a few good friends track me down and then it kinda made it worth while. well now after our computer got into some online trouble, i decided it wasn't worth it anymore. it's such a headache getting on myspace now anyway! so i've retreated to facebook and the love of my life, blogging. so friends, that's where you'll find me from now on. i have to say seeing the bolton's halloween pictures sure sent me off with a BANG! those girls are hilarious...and smokin hot! woot woot alyssa, jessica and jaime!

i know, i know...

so a lot of you (almost all...) have said they don't think they could be a savage beast like me. trust me when i say i thought the same about myself. sometimes we surprise ourselves. so although gross, don't count your self out. you never know what you'll end up being capable of. but i still think it was gross and don't know if i'll do it again...we'll see. i watched my grandpa do it this weekend and it didn't seem as gross for some reason. maybe because he had good knives and didn't have to put his full weight on it to break through a bone. ok, enough....

Thursday, October 23, 2008

i am a savage beast...

since i'm cheap, i got some small whole chickens at Roth's for like $3 a chicken-with the intent of cutting them myself...skip the middle man! they had been in my fridge for a day or so and i knew i needed to get them cut up before too long. i planned on taking them out to my grandpa's since i know he has good knives and the stomach to do it, but time was running out. so last night i looked it up on the internet and watched a couple videos and went to work! oh my gosh, it was disgusting at first. i had NEVER ever done anything like this...i couldn't even handle watching my mom with the turkey on thanksgiving! i sat there for a second after the chicken gave birth to the liver and whatever else was in there and wondered if i could really do this... then i gave myself a pep talk and just went to town. it took me probably about 30 minutes per chicken. but i skinned and de-boned the breasts and thighs and just cut apart the wings and legs. i'm sure i didn't do it right, but it seems to have turned out just fine. the grossest part was knowing i could snap a chicken in half with my bare hands...and seeing a teeny bit of hair still left on the skin. ugh...so gross! i'll let you know if it was worth it once i cook some. and run if you see me in a dark alley...

homemade goodness...

for some reason i really felt like pizza last night, but thought i should try making it myself instead of buying one. i have a bread machine that my mom lent me and it has a "pizza dough" setting. so that's what i did...the crust was pretty thick and i hate to use all my flour, so i recommend using these measurements instead of mine...
3/4 cup warm water
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp yeast

then i made my own pizza sauce since rachael ray says it's so easy and cheap. i found this recipe online and it doesn't even require any heat...although i let mine simmer for a few minutes since i didn't have the time to sit and let it marinade...
6 oz tomato paste
1 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cloves of garlic -minced
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp rosemary
salt and pepper to taste

i didn't have all the herbs so i just improvised. you can always use italian seasoning and that would be just fine. really you can put anything you want in there...onions, cut up tomatoes, more garlic...whatever! it actually made more than i needed so i have some left over.

you can brush the edges with olive oil for a little extra brown if you want. i did.
heat the oven to 450 degrees and cook for about 10-15 minutes.

i already started cutting the pizza when i realized i should take a picture of it.

it was so good...give it a try!

Monday, October 20, 2008

...what is my problem?

i'm sick again. this is the second time in a month. who gets sick twice in one month? sooo irritating!

we stole...

on sunday isaac took this from the mother's lounge at church. he was playing with it for some time and somehow it ended up in my purse. can you tell what it is? it's a door stop...a dirty one.

in the moment...

so right now isaac is repeatedly saying "uh oh" as he throws all his food off his high chair...

my mind escapes me...

i always have things i think to blog about but when i sit down to the computer i can never think of anything! annoying.

woot woot...we're in business!

i had my first card sale tonight! ok not really, but sort of... my aunt meleah (the tosh-sauce aunt) asked me where she could find some "thank you" cards for some of her girlfriends. i just stared at her for a really long time until she realized who she was asking. i imagined i would just make them for her since i "just make them" for everyone else. but she was nice enough to give me some denero for them! i was so shocked and excited. it really makes me excited to think someone even likes my cards. anyway, she is leaving for china tomorrow and i thought i would try to get them done before she left so she could have something to do when my uncle is doing work stuff....so i had a day and a half to make 15...and i did it! i finished tonight and delivered them to the drop off...my grandpa's....where i also enjoyed some donuts, a coke, and some super yummy enchiladas. you go grandpa!

although not my latest, here are a couple cards i've made recently. this cute star one was for my cousin jake's girlfriend. he said she likes hearts and stars...i thought stars would be safe...

this is a birthday card for my friend alyssa...i even cut the card out myself with this cute template i bought...oh, and i made that envelope in the back.

this is what i gave my roommates when we met each other in boise...this one's tanya's. it is a packet of five different cards....thank you, birthday, congratulations, and "just because"....

so if any of you are looking for some cute cheap cards...i'm your girl! i love doing it and it's so fun to try new things. it'll make a good christmas present too...who couldn't use a good stash of grab-and-go cards?

Thursday, October 9, 2008

a moment in time...

yes it's 11pm and yes i'm eating at night...whatever. so isaac and i are sharing a bowl of corn flakes on the kitchen floor. he's standing at my side and has his hand on my shoulder when, between bites (and unprovoked), he gives me a sweet kiss. what a precious little moment in time...

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

this or that...

i don't know what's more white trash...this guy taking a picture of senator obama at the presidential debate with a disposable camera...or me taking a picture of my tv with my cell phone of the guy taking a picture of the senator at the presidential debate with a disposable camera.

...are you a bag lady?

oh how i love a good bag! here are my favorites...hope i win one!

whoa...waaaay too much!

i love this isaac face. it's the "what? back off..." face

isaac has a problem with stuffing his food in his mouth. i don't know why he does it (i only did it because i was afraid my brothers would eat it all before i could finish...) but he's into stuffing everything straight in. this particular time was string cheese.

i found that if i hand him the whole thing he'll start biting it with his teeth and since the teeth are only in the middle of his mouth, only the middle of the cheese gets eaten. it's pretty cute, but towards the end of the...i dont know what you want to call it, string?...he just stuffed it in his mouth.

it was probably like two inches of cheese...sick! but oh so cute...

Saturday, October 4, 2008

what's going on...

disregard the underwear in these pictures...isaac was wearing this purse like a backpack in my sister's room. i did the same thing with one of my purses when i was little. i put this on his back and he walked around for awhile looking all cute!

quit interrupting my yawns...

i noticed, especially at night and in the mornings, that i often interrupt my own yawns. they are interrupted with a thought, stumbling over something, or who even knows what. but seriously, why can't i just yawn in peace? i've started catching this and following through with my yawns. it's really a great feeling! everything else can wait 4 seconds for me to yawn, for heaven's sake...

lock the door!

i had this really freaky dream last night...it was more like this morning. i can remember a lot, but i always have a hard time explaining everything. but i'll try...i was at my old neighbor faith's house. my aunt meleah, uncle scott, and derik were there. well meleah (who looked nothing like my aunt meleah...) left somewhere and soon someone saw her running back so they cleared something from the doorway and as soon as she RAN into the house they locked the door really fast...like just fast enough that freddie kruger couldn't get in. ok it wasn't freddie kruger, but it was someone scary. she was crying and we were all hiding (except derik who was sleeping...). turns out there was some guy sitting in her car when she got in it. we all carefully looked outside and there were a lot of people coming and going. it was daytime...super bright out. and this couple were taking down license plate numbers and walking from car to car..getting in some and writing things down from others. i don't know what the heck was going on, but it was scary.

so i wake up from my dream...totally sleepy still, and i think...derik never locks the door to the house when he leaves in the morning. i wonder if this is a prompting to go lock the door...but i was sooo tired! after scaring myself so bad that i'm no longer sleepy, i got up and sure enough the door was unlocked. i locked it quick, took a close listen to see if i could hear anyone in the house already...and went back to bed.

eww..how scary would that be for someone to just come in my house while i was sleeping and come in my pitch dark room and hurt me or isaac?! eww!

pawrk chaaps and tosh sauce...

my aunt meleah and i made applesauce a few weeks ago. we had a little birthday party for me at my grandpa's. aunt meleah and uncle scott bought everyone paddington's pizza (or paddingums if you're me...) and it was so much fun just hanging out. they picked all these apples from their apple trees...we looked them up and they're called macintosh apples. there were so many that we thougth we'd try to make some applesauce...i thought it was an awesome thing to blog about. ..so here it goes!
here we started with the macintosh apples grown on the farm...hence the "tosh sauce"...we also thought of "mac sauce" and "macinsauce"... aunt meleah was surprised that i could take a picture of the two of us by myself.

then we boiled the apples in a little water...this is the second batch we made. in the first batch we kept the skins on which gave the tosh sauce a beautiful pink color...almost unreal!

we used this ancient contraption that squeezes all the mushy apples down to the perfect consistency.
ps. i hate how that shirt makes my arms look like freakin mom arms...not madonna mom arms, but like relief society mom arms... and can anyone else do that with their thumb? crank it back!

you can see a little left over pink sauce in the bottom of this batch that we squished. so pretty! and it's just from the skins! amazing...

there it is all pretty and pink!

the final product. it took on some of the pink, but was a boring yellow for the most part...

all these pictures made my aunt and i want to blot our shiney faces with oil sheets...so gross, huh?

then we took another picture...it must be the flash because we were still shiney!

i had so much fun and a couple weeks later we made pear sauce...so good. and we didn't even need to add any sugar or cinnamon. aunt meleah, you rock! i'm so glad you moved back...i can't wait to come hang out more often!
