out to pasture

I just remembered that I haven't shared these pictures from putting the bucket calves out to pasture after the county fair.  We'll just say, it was an adventure!  :)

Here's Landon leading Leo down...   unfortunately Leo passed away on Sunday from being pretty sick for about a week.  Landon was sad as he spent a lot of time petting Leo and sitting by him when he was sick....  but he's excited to pick out a new calf soon.

Things started out pretty smooth...   the calves were walking along quite nicely...

then Lane's calf got loose sending D on a chase....

he was soon caught.. 

and then Landon's calf got loose...  sending D and B pulling along Lane's calf on the chase....

got him...  right by the road!  :)

The brothers were both huffing and puffing but giggling along!

Hanna and Wyatt did great holding onto theirs.

Once they got in the pasture and were turned loose, they R.A.N!

It was a fun adventure!  :)

pickles 2010

We put up 12 quarts of pickles this summer and with our abundant cucumber crop, we could have done 7x that many!  All of us but D love cucumbers so we've had sliced up cucumbers at almost every meal this summer.  We did pickles two summers ago and they were good, but some were mushy...  this year we figured out what we did wrong and pretty much mastered our pickles!  Good thing we have three kiddos who could eat pickles daily!

while we're on the subject of food...

...I just had a piece of chocolate zucchini cake for breakfast.

I made it with whole wheat flour and 2 whole zucchinis...   

does that make it a healthy choice??

some shirtless sweetcorn eatin'

Our LARGE sweetcorn harvest was a little late this year.  And it's sad to admit this, but we actually had a lot go to waste out in the field because we had.so.much.and.got.tired.of.eating.and.freezing.sweetcorn.!!!

D and I alone did 30 dozen ears and it is now in our freezer awaiting our winter meals.

Prayer is powerful!  and it will always continue to be

While no one but God knows what His plan is for our lives and why things happen that happen, as a Christian, that's when our faith and trust in God come into play.

The man that SO MANY have been praying for, passed away yesterday.

Prayer changes as life changes.

But our prayer should always be that God's Will be Done and that His name be glorified through us.

My heart hurts so bad for this family, but I do believe that God has a plan through this.

That plan is just hard to see right now.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

Prayer

Prayer is powerful!

For those of you who share my belief, I have a prayer request for you.

The husband of a friend of mine recently suffered from a blood clot in his lung.  Shortly after being taken to the hospital for the clot, they found out he has leukemia.  The next day the blood clot traveled to his brain and caused a stroke.  He only suffered minor effects from the stroke but his condition this morning is very life threatening and is worsening.

Please pray for this man, his wife and their three young children.

It came much too soon!

The first day of school came way too soon!   The boys recently had their first day of school and I wasn't ready then and I'm not ready now..   I don't like it when they're away!!  But enough of my whining...  here's some pictures.

Landon is in PreK this year.  We were certain he'd be in kindergarten this year, but after much thought and prayer about it, we feel this is the right way to go for him.  He has the same teacher (with a new helper) but the same classroom so he felt right at home going back this year.

Wyatt is in 2nd grade..  sheesh...  are we old enough to have a 2nd grader?  :)

Wyatt's teacher is new to the district and we feel she will be a great teacher.  After a rough 1st grade year, we were shocked when Wyatt was VERY excited to go back.

Had to get Miss A in a picture too!  So what is she doing while the boys are at school?  Well, she's starting to show interest in potty training so we're dappling in that a little bit right now.  We're not too gung-ho about her being trained but we'll see how it goes.

while waiting for the boys to get home on the bus, I sat on the front porch in my white rocker and got some work done while listening to the birds and enjoying the cool breeze.

here it comes!!

Landon stopped and talked to me, but Wyatt headed right in for a snack!!  

They both had great first days and were excited to go back another day.
