Ben had to take Edward to emergency at the VA Hospital on Sunday January 26, 2014 in excruciating pain in his left shoulder! We waited almost 4hours sitting in a wheelchair before we were seen! Admitted and put in a room at 10 pm that night.
This is how they had to move him to go get a CAT scan telling us the cancer had weaken his collarbone and it was now broken, most likely never to heal. So morphin and oxycodone for life to manage the pain.
I spent everyday with him. Combed his hair, shaved him, brushed his teeth,and put Onguard oil on the bottom of his feet to help against getting sick. Some days feed him when in too much pain.
All 3 of the kids were very good about visiting. Mandy would come mornings before she went to work. Here Emily brought Dad a vanilla milkshake!
This is the view out of Ed's window of Portland, Willamette River and Mt St. Helen. The other window framed Mt Hood. Never got tired of looking out watching the planes land.

Bodie just kept a vigil at the window in the den waiting for Dad to come home!
With Ed being gone for 12 days guess who became my bed partner! He got 3/4 of the bed and we did a lot of snuggling.
We watched the Super Bowel football game while there and Seattle Seahawks won big time. We took 8 field trips crossing the walking bridge over to OHSU for radiation treatments on his collarbone to help alleviate the pain
Our most wonderful Home Teacher John McKeon would come over everyday and take Bodie for a walk. He also drove me to pick up Ed as it was snowing and I don't do well driving under those conditions. He certainly was our angel during these uncertain days.
We brought Edward home on Friday February 7, 2014. Here he is just home wearing a sling to help hold his arm up so as not to pull down on his shoulder. We also came home with a cane with 4feet on the bottom to help with balance, and a wheelchair for when we go out long distance walking. Looking good honey!
We got 5 inches of snow that weekend! Thanks to everyone for your prayers as Heavenly Father heard them and so blessed to bring Ed home and doing really well. Love and Hugs
