Todays adventure

I really want to take some pictures of today's adventures. It began with me playing a game called Pharaoh for a little while (try two hours). After feeling the guilt of waiting my morning a made a list of things that needed to get done.

1. check email and Facebook (wasn't a need but nice to do)
2. shower
3. turn on Christmas music
4. do dishes (yuck!! I hate this job
5. clean desk ( not a short task)
6. fold laundry
. . .

the list goes on. The true adventure was number 5. I didn't think it would take8 hours but it did. i made Kyler work on the closet and his "need to go through stack," which were mostly notebooks from past years, and old assignments (from high school). I wish i could have taken pictures of it, but of course we lost the camera somewhere in the mess. Kyler kept rationalizing that he needed to keep things and of course, they were things that you could find easier on the internet than in his stack of stuff. . . poor kid. it was  a tough day, but he is a trooper! We only have one stack of notebooks about as high as my knee. . . we started out with at least 4 of these stacks.

I ended up going through my stacks and finding stuff that i never knew i had. I also started a couple of my own stacks of "need to go through" They were mostly preschool lessons that hadn't been filed yet. i"m a slacker sometimes.

I can now say, to day has been a success. Kyler and i have gotten rid of all, i mean most of those papers that we will never look at again. Our house is decorated for Christmas, Christmas shopping is done and we are as happy as can be. I love my husband so much.

Finals week #2

This is how Kyler feels about homework. . .

Homework! Oh, Homework!

I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you away in the sink,
if only a bomb
would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.

I'd rather take baths
with a man-eating shark,
or wrestle a lion
alone in the dark,
eat spinach and liver,
pet ten porcupines,
than tackle the homework,
my teacher assigns.

Homework! Oh, homework!
you're last on my list,
I simple can't see
why you even exist,
if you just disappeared
it would tickle me pink.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!

Kyler and I

Kyler and I met some time in February of 2009. We were both in band, and we both lived in the same apartment complex. After meeting kyler, i made it a point to follow him. :D If he went to the music building to practice, so would I. If he left for band at a specific time, so would I. if he was studying in the lobby, so was I. . .

whats funny about kyler is the fact that he really doesnt talk much. At one point in that semester, a friend of mine asked kyler out on a date (before anyone knew i was head over heels for the kid). when she got back from the date i asked her how it went. Her only response was: "he didn't talk at all and The only thing Kyler said through the whole date was 'do you want to look at the program'. "

That being said. I set out on my mission to make the kid talk to me. I think i did pretty good. . . o.k., maybe the fact that he didn't talk a lot was an excuse for me to talk all i want. When spring break hit, I convinced Kyler to get a facebook, and i trained him to talk. :D Over spring break we sent millions of emails! I came up with a game that in every email we would ahve to ask a question for the other person to respond to. The questions things like, if you had a million dollars what would you spend it on, or Which temple do you want to get married in? . His emails started as little paragraphs, and by the end of the week, he was writing novels to me! That little boy grew up so fast. . . :D

A Pixar Movie called 'Up' helps other people understand mine and kyler's relationship. I watched this movie with his family, and we all died of laughter. Its similar starting from the fact that he doesnt talk that much, all the way to the fact that she has the crazy puffy hair, and talks A LOT!!

at the end, Ellie pops back up and says "you don't talk that much. . *pause* . . . I like you!" thats one of the several parts of that clip thats so much like Kyler and me. I couldn't find a clip of this that had that part in it, but htis one still works.

The Toddler's Creed

I would like to share this poem with you. For those of you that either work with kids, or have kids of your own will understand the humor in this.

The Toddlers Creed

by Dr. Burton L. White

If I want it,
IT'S MINE!

If I give it to you and change my mind later,
IT'S MINE!

If I can take it away from you,
IT'S MINE!

If it's mine it will never belong to anybody else,
No matter what.
If we are building something together,
All the pieces are mine!

If it looks just like mine,
IT'S MINE!

If it breaks or needs putting away,
IT'S YOURS!

now, i deal with situations like this every day. . . "Teacher! I got off my bike and Abbey took it from me!" "now Cassie, you got off the bike and . . . " "BUT ITS MINE!!!"

I love my job, just so you know. I love explaining to them why the bike isn't theirs anymore. Its so neat to watch each kid grow, and learn that everything isn't "mine." I love teaching them circle time, and having the chance to plan activities for them. I am so happy where i'm working. ITs amazing. But sadly, hours are going to be cut back after Christmas since a couple of the moms have the opportunity to be stay at home. Lucky them, lucky kids, unlucky me. I'm going to miss them so much.

Note To Self. . .

At the day care, we have had frequent spider scenes. The kids love spiders, but for us teachers . . . not so much. Usually, the teachers, like me, scream and jump back and yell "Spider!!!" I'm not joking when I say that we scream.

Each morning, there is one little girl that follows me around as I do my cleaning. I give this little 2 year old a spray bottle so she can pretend to clean the bathroom as I do, and I let her hold onto the vacuum as I push it. It’s so much fun.

On this particular day, i decided that when we finished cleaning, that we would lie down on the ground and give a great big sigh. So we did. She fell on my stomach and we giggled. Then she asked, " where’s Manna’s arm pit?" And so, I raised my arm and she put her clean hand into my sweaty arm pit. . . she pulled away and said "ooo, sweaty" and I just nodded. Than out of now where, she pulls her hands close to her body, fingers spread wide, her eyes got big, and her mouth fell open. Then, she pointed to my arm pit, and with a voice full of fear she said "spider!" All I could do was say calmly, without laughing or turning pink, say. . . "no, i have hairy arm pits"

So, my lesson has been learned. . . i now shave before going to work! For those of you with cute little 2 year olds, i would suggest shaving to save yourself the embarrassment of the child pointing and yelling "SPIDER!"

Kids

So, I'm working at a day care these days. A couple of weeks before starting this job, my sister told me that I'm probably not going to like it. My manager at Quiznos told me that as soon as i leave Quiznos, I would miss working there. After hearing that, i feared going to work at the daycare. I feared the kids, the parents, and having to teach the kids at circle time

I have now completed my Third week at Julie's (the day care) and i'm loving it. I cant tell you how much i love playing with these kids. They are always doing crazy things like throwing buggers at each other, trying to kill each other, and asking why that grasshopper is on the back of the other one. I have also changed so many diapers. Some of them so gross that i wore gloves, other diapers that i gaged while changing. Even with the bad stuff, i love this job.

So, there is this one little 8 month boy there, he has been on antibiotics. since he was put on antibiotics, he has had the worst diapers imaginable. I have had nightmares about changing his diapers. I glove up and pull out bags and get a new package of wet wipes ready every time. His runs start at his ears and go down to his toes. Since we are not supposed to give baths, it takes two to change this guy. One to hold, the other to wipe. It is so gross!

Every day at work, i have the continuous job telling kids that Killing is not a good thing and that we do not play killing games. But, do they listen. . . no. Time out or "cool down time" is often used as their punishment for that. . . that is if they listen to me. :D

Something else, the fact that kids tell their parents EVERYTHING can be a little embarrassing. For example. When we play outside, they love catching grasshoppers. Almost an hour is spent catching them. But they have become very confused lately. There have been many grasshoppers on each others backs, and they have asked why that is. We then have to answer them. this is what all of us teacher now use "well, that grass hopper is just giving a piggy back ride to the other one" then all of the teachers stand and look at each other with a funny expression. and than later that day, the story is told by the child to the mother. Then they look at us in horror. we cant help it, they are just giving each other piggy back rides right? do are we supposed to share whats really going on?

Oi. but, i really love this job. I'm learning so much. I have seen myself change as a person for the better. Qualities that i thought i had lost are back, and that makes me so happy. I love everyday at work. . . until they get me sick like last Wednesday. or when they throw up on the toys or me.

crazy fun things done this last month

Today, we are so excited because we bought a car. . . we now have made a huge purchase together as a married couple. what a great birthday gift huh.we bought a 2000 poniac Grand am. Its maroon in color and its previous owner decked it out. so great CD player, tinted windows, skulls all over the place like on the tires and back windshield, upgraded from a V4 to a V6 ( the difference between the two i really dont know.) but, it seems to be a good car. we are now on a quest for insurance. . . . :D oh fun. thats todays plan. find a good insurance company to go through. :D

Well, thats the cool news for today. I'll have to take some pictures of the car and put them up. I'm way excited about it though.

Blah

So, I must be tired or something, i'm having one of those weeks where i'm just moody. I go to work, snap at a few co workers and than when they tease me i burst into tears. Oh man. Than i go home thinking a nap will help, but than i go on strike against my husband and flat out ignore him for an hour. I'm so sorry Ky, i really am. And since i'm already in a bad mood, I will sit in my little corner and pout. Blast. I'm sorry. this is just one of those weeks. I promise all is well, and I am happy. I've just achieved "beyond" tired and stressed award. Kyler and I are in the process of buying a car, and deciding if we should move. along with that, i still need to sign up for classes and search for an additional or new job. I know that this isnt a Journal, but today, thats how i'm treating it. So i'm so sorry for those that are reading. I will be more positive now.

If you havent noticed, Ky and I finally got internet. So there is no more buying sundays at Burger king to use their free wi fi. :D that was always fun. I can now complete blogs that I start, talk to ky while he is at work, and watch Americas got Talent. So thats always fun. :D

Ky and I have made dinner almost every night this week! Yeah! So I have this Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe that is amazing! (thank you Christa for that cook book "more to life than green jello") We also used that same cook book and found a GREAT pizza recipe. I have another cook book that we tried. it was a fruit chicken with lemons apples and oranges. . . it was gross, It was way too sweet. We also tried a BBQ chicken in our crock pot. that was great too. I was way excited to be able to actually use the crock pot. So this week, cooking has been mine and Ky's thing this week. Tomorrow though, is a French toast day. YEAH!

Kyler is way excited about the windshield wiper fluid he bought the other day, I roll my eyes, but than again, i get excited when i buy new sewing stuff. funny thing is though, i dont think he has put it into the car yet.

I'm trying to think what else is new in our life. we have a semi clean apartment today. Three Cheers for clean apartments! CHEER CHEER CHEER! that is thanks to Kyler. He is amazing that way. He is always doing the dishes and picking up after me, Manda Pig.

Kyler is reading something around 2 books per week. He is finishing up his second book as we speak i think. (he is a work and when he has breaks he reads)

So besides a bad attitude this week, Kyler is still making my life wonderful. he is so patient with me.

Manny's Sleepover at Quiznos

So, many of you have heard of the different sandwich shops there are in this world, there's Jimmy Johns, Subway, Gandolfos, Quiznos. . . and so on. Well I spend 40 hours of my weeks at Quiznos. Last January, When i first started, my manager received a phone call from a group that hosts a bike race here in Logan. My manager thought, wow this will be great, a couple hundred sandwiches would be no problem with a crew of five or six. yeah than she asked how many they wanted, and that about made her fall over. they wanted 3,900 sandwiches. 3000 the first night and 900 hte second. they wanted all of them to be either Turkey, or Peanut butter and Jelly. So, We had 6 months to prepare and dread the coming day in June that we would ahve boxes of bread and tons of turkey to slice (our meat does not come pre sliced). Let me tell you how much fun this was :D. oh so much. The best part about doing this was the fact that it meant that Kyler and i were on the same schedule for two whole days YEAH! And during this experience, i also had my first energy drink! Man, i'm hyper enough without energy drinks. Keep that in mind before you offer me one ever again. I was singing at the top of my lungs and trying to listen to music and have conversations, it was really great entertainment! But one thing that I learned that i did not like was, I'm getting old! by Sunday, my knees were hurting so bad I had to wrap them. I guess i should invest in some better shoes so i can survive. It was a fun two nights, i've tried to upload some pictures on here but i cant figure out how so when Kyler gets home i'll have to try to put them up, if i cant, there are some pictures on Facebook if you are dieing to see them, if you havent already. :D

romantic love story. . .

So, last month, Ky and I were told to put a spotlight together for our ward newsletter. We decided that it would make as a good post for our blog and be fun for you to read. so here is a copy of our spotlight

We were married in the Oquirrh Mountain temple on March 12, so almost 4 months ago! We met at Snow College at the beginning of the Spring ’09 semester. The first time I saw Kyler, I knew I wanted to marry him. I gave no other girl a chance at winning Kyler over, and believe me, i had a room mate go on a date with him, i fought hard. :D. I also made sure Kyler had no time to look at another girl.

Our relationship really kicked off that spring break where all we had to communicate with each other was Facebook . . . We spent every night that week chatting till the early hours of the morning. Just ask our moms. We may have been home physically, but not mentally. I can remember reading off emails to my mom that kyler would send me, I know i made my mom sick when all i could do was blush and smile and quote parts of Kyler's Letter, "And he wants to get married in any temple that his future wife picks and oh mom, i'm so in love!" yes, i'm sure that was something i would have said

Kyler Graduated from Snow College with his associates that spring. Soon after that, he moved to Salt Lake, where his family is from. While Kyler was moving to Salt Lake, I was moving to St. George to live with my family. We spent the summer on the phone after 7pm till the early hours of the morning. After the summer, I went back to Snow College and Kyler moved to Logan to attend USU. That December, I could not take the distance and moved to Logan.

Kyler loves to play and create board games. He and his best friend enjoy coming up with future games they could make. Kyler is currently going to USU and is studying computer engineering, but has a few more years to go. He is working grave yard shifts as a technical support for websites. . . Being a girl, i do not know exactly he does. :D

I love playing my flute and to sew costumes. I have always had an appreciation for music, and am always willing to perform. My all time favorite job was sewing for the Snow College theater department. I will be finishing up my Associates degree at Snow College by taking the last two classes at USU. YEAH!!!

Pixar recently put out a new movie called "UP". In the beginning of the show, it is the story of a couple meeting. A girl named Ellie and a boy named Carl. The first time i saw this movie was with Kyler's family. At the end of the first section, they stated that the relationship between the characters reminds them of mine and kyler's. reasons being. . .
1.) Ellie's hair when she takes off her hat. yes my hair, with out good product, will do the stand up frizz thing.

2.) the line "You don't talk so much. . . (long pause). . . I like you" Kyler does not talk as much as most people do, and i talk A LOT A LOT A LOT!!

3.) Carl and Ellie are SO in love.

recently we have loved going on hikes together, playing our instruments, and playing Rummikub, (which i'm the champ at) and Bananagrams, a new addition to our collection. We are also trapped in Japanises cartoonish things, like Esra Flolune.

So that was our spotlight, but of course i changed a couple of things since i dont have a limit on how long it can be. :D

Kyler and I are still SO in love. i'm sure we make people at church sick because all we can do is cuddle and stare into each others eyes for minutes at a time, but hey, were newly wedds. We only enjoy this part of life once, so there. :D

What a weird couple of weeks. I have been so absorbed into books that I am not sure how I’ve made it to Friday. It is so funny how the week goes by in a flash. So the last three weeks, I have spent my extra time reading. I have read the first three Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Dear John, and PS I Love You. I couldn’t tell you which has been my favorite. I really liked the Percy Jackson books since they are so much like Harry Potter. Dear John was amazing. The point that they made in the book was so Great! If you read it, there are a couple of bad paragraphs that should have been left out. PS I love You is the one I finished last night…. Or this morning… at 6:30. This was so good, except they had to use all sorts of words that were not needed at all.

Since PS I Love You is the last book I read, I’ll give a summary and tell you what I liked so much about it. The story is about a women grieving for her husband who just passed away at age 30 from a brain tumor. Before her husband passed away, he mailed a package to her parents which held notes with a task to do on it. There were nine notes, one for each month left in that year. When she receives the package, she slowly begins to recover from her husband’s death. It was such an amazing book, just the ending was lame. The author of this book did a great job of making the sad moments not too sad. Often when I cried in the book, I was laughing also. There was one section in the book where I had to muffle my laughs under a pillow. Kyler just sat on the bed and rolled his eyes at me and tried to tell me that people were sleeping in other apartments around us, as it was midnight.

The book Dear John lives up to its title. Although this book also made me cry, it is not the reason you would think. It is not because the “soul mates” of the book break up, but because of another relationship that takes place between a father and a son. Although its not a “Happily ever after” Story, at the end of the book, you feel complete. I have several friends at work trying to read this book, they all say that they cant get past the first few chapters about the father’s daily routine, if you are reading this book, keep pushing past that, but remember what it says. The book is not really about finding romance, its more about friends helping each other through life, helping others understand what another person may be going through. I guess that’s the real reason why I like the story so much.
Than Percy Jackson and the Olympians. . . Oh dear. . . poor Percy is a ‘half-blood’, half human and half Greek god. This book is done if first person and Percy’s commentary of what is going in the story makes you cry from laughing too much. The series main plot is to find which half-blood will turn the tables and either save or destroy Olympus, the place of the Greek gods. Each book in the series ahs its own plot that helps develop Percy for this task. . . So in some ways its like Harry Potter, just you know Harry is going to destroy the Dark Lord eventually. :D
So, that is what my life has been the last couple of weeks, I have been ready books basically daily. . . and the sad part about it is, my brain doesn’t adjust really well to the “real world.” For the past weeks I have been driving myself CRAZY with my need to narrate my own life story. . . for example, at work today here is what my brain was doing.

As I stood in at the drive through drink stand at work, I realized how tired I was. Why had I made the choice to stay up all night and finish that stinkin book! I can’t focus any more. I reached for my drink and stared out the window at the Logan temple for the next couple of minutes mindlessly sipping my Lemonade.

Yeah, I know, not normal. I really do think I’m writing my life story in first person as I go! I really do narrate what I’m doing as I am doing it, I’m not exaggerating, I really think . . . “I reached for my drink. . . “ I am really starting to drive myself CRAZY with this. I need to stop.

So moving on from my, I’m going insane bit, what is the next book I should read, Any ideas? I’ve checked out the book “My Sister’s Keeper,” but the first page about how her first memory in life is trying to kill her sister, I don’t think I’m in the mood for a tragedy.

Life

On March 12, 2010, Kyler and I got married. We have almost been married a month now and Great news!!! we are still Alive!! wait, we all knew that would be how it would work out. :D Well, March 12th happened, I saw my family, as Lexi, my niece, would say, i got to be a princess for a whole day... or week. After tying the knot, we went to St. George and celebrated with my family and friends. After a grand exit in bubbles, we took off to California.

We drove and drove and drove till we got to ... ... ... Disneyland!! We rode the Nemo ride a whole two times!! And We saw the firework show and... and... we rode Splash mountain Two times in a row, we were drenched after that and i spilled Hot Chocolate down the front of me just like a kid... isn't Disneyland the happiest place on earth? i mean, it is 100 times better going there with your Husband on your honeymoon i would have to say. Of course Kyler and i were floating so high on clouds that we managed to forget cameras, so we only have pictures of one day at Disneyland.

Well, we got 3 days worth of Disneyland taken care of and we were off to Salt Lake for another party for us.

Going back to work was so hard. I'm still not in the swing of things and i've been home for what, two weeks, or maybe three. . . well, Kyler works nights so I'm also getting into the habit of sleeping in a queen bed alone. . . oh what fun!? not. I dont know how wives can let their husband leave them for vacations! I can hardly handle Nights alone.

but besides that, we are getting in the swing of things. I'm right now in the process of persuading Kyler that i NEED a ferret, any ideas on how to do that? THey are so cute and cuddly and funny and... yeah. i want a ferret right now. WEll, i guess i'm off. I've uploaded photos of the wedding onto face book if you are interested in seeing them, i'll try to upload some on here in a bit. i dont have internet at my apartment yet so i have to do all internet surfing on at the library and i only get here about once a week, if that.

Take care
