Cousin Fun

Daniel stayed with us approximately 6 days 15 hours and 32 minutes prior to his marriage. We had a great time visiting with him. He then went and stayed with his mom at Grandma Reid's house but before he disappeared on us... I snapped this pic of he and Jenni. I don't know... do they look alike? Nah...I then went over to mom's house to visit with Pam and her family and caught this cute little shot with my trusty camera. And who says I can't take cute photos! It looks like mom might have a pair of scissors in her hand..... mmmm I wonder what she's going to do with them.....

Great Memories

Time keeps marching on. This picture was taken last summer at our 4th of July BBQ in my backyard. The kids are enjoying some homemade root beer (thanks to Pam) with some ice cream making a great root beer float.

Looking at this picture takes me back to the 4th of July celebrations that we did when Alan, Sheryl and I were kids. Our kids haven't had the fun experience to spend the 3rd of July night sleeping on a curb to save a spot in the shade for the BIG 4th of July parade. Nothing compares to that memory except maybe the smoke bombs being tossed into the Orem High School marching band! (Alan did it) We always enjoyed a great BBQ, the carnival and fireworks... except of course... the year of the CHERRIES..... (ask your parents to tell you THAT story!!) Ahhhh memories~

Daniel took Cat up to the top of Pike's Peak yesterday and proposed to her. They will be getting married on the 9th of Aug. in Salt lake. More details to follow!

Memorial Day

My mom, Grandma, Colby and I went to the east lawn cemetary on Friday. We braved the cold to honor our Grandpa, Father and Husband. Colby is in the picture making sure the pinwheel from the grandkids was perfectly straight, he also made sure grandpa had the flag and cross to honor his military service. Dosen't it look great? We sure love and miss our cute grandpa. Hope everyone is doing well.. as grandpa would say "take it easy"

Graduation

Last week - May 9th - Sheryl graduated with distinguished honor (4.0) with her Master's degree in education. Mom, Jeri and Scott flew over to watch the events. It was a wonderful experience with all of us feeling quite proud of Sheryl's accomplishment. I thought it would be nice to share a picture of Sheryl and her family at her graduation as well as a picture of dad (grandpa) when he received his degree.

Time Flies

I was talking to a friend today who's oldest son just received his PhD at BYU. My friend is my age. He started to share his experience of watching his son during the ceremony. He shared how it hit him hard how fast time had moved on. He mentioned that it seemed like last week he was teaching his now 30 yr old how to throw a baseball. We both got a little emotional thinking of the changes we have seen with our kids and others. Wasn't it just yesterday they were playing with Barbie's and trucks? The song from Fiddler on the Roof - Sunrise/Sunset has so much more meaning now then it did when I saw it while in high school. It's humbling to think that all the generations that came before us possibly felt the same way... that time flies and life is too short. We need to grasp every second, good or bad, and live life to the fullest.
