Been searching for that perfect duvet cover to go with your newly painted walls and coming up empty? Fret not, little design mavens, for Inmod, the modern decor site, now has it's own design-your-own modern bedding application. It's much like paint by numbers if it were done by the folks at Dwell. The colors are a little limited and only a few of the patterns are really cool....but, I did just waste 40 minutes on there coming up with cool combinations! And it even has a birdseye preview option in which you can change the rug and room accessories to reflect your own (or those on your wish list!)
Pretty darn cool if you ask me!

You may be embarrassed to receive a Pottery Barn Teen box at your home, being a full grown, mortgage paying adult and all. But shake it off, because there are some genius finds on the site that would fit in anyone's home, not just the room of a Justin Timberlake addicted 15 year old (wait a sec, did I just go to his concert a mere few months ago?)

As you may well know, I am a bit of a fashion addict. My interested in design spans all mediums- art, interiors, furniture,clothes, jewelry...it is both exciting and expensive. There are worse things in this world to be addicted to.

My first "designer" bag purchase was in the late 90's and was a grey nylon Kate Spade, which I just NOW parted with. Upon purchasing it, I swore that I would never need another bag again. Cut to the present time, where I now need a separate closet just for my bags. My promise may not have lasted, but Kate's continuously fresh style certainly has. Ever since those days when that little black Kate label inspired me to be a more fashionable person, Kate Spade's products and personal style have inspired me; never more so than now. She designs with a luxe, WASPy feel, but infused with a giant dose of humor and "joy de vivre". Being serious is not on Kate's pink polka dotted agenda. Think Palm Beach meets Greenwich, CT; classic meets modern.

While house hunting this spring in Inman Square I came across this absolutely adorable and perfect shop called Boutique Fabulous on Cambridge Street right near 1369 Coffee House and S&S Deli, for those in the area in the know. It is a MUST visit for all Boston area people!!
Too bad the house didn't work out that was right down the street!

Phew.
With my back aching and design ideas running through my head a mile a minute, I am now sitting at my uber-cool new IKEA desk in my office.
I have a whole OFFICE, people.
Coming from a 698 square foot den of clutter, I feel odd in so much space. Andrew even exclaimed when thirsting for a drink, "It's so FAR to the kitchen!"
In our last place you could practically open the fridge from the couch.
Alas, he will not be getting the beer fridge in the living room he asked for last night. Big design no-no.
As I slowly progress with my design, I'll post pictures. It's going to be FABULOUS. I can barely wait.
Patience, grasshopper...

Here it is, time to leave Cambridge for the greener (literally) pastures of our new JP home. Finally, closets galore, a dining room for entertaining and three bedrooms for guests.
Needless to say, posts are on hold until next week when I resurface from the insanity of boxes, paint and furniture catalogues.

Nothing beats opening your mailbox and finding REAL tangible correspondence inside from someone other than the traffic department warning you that you'll be getting the boot soon unless you pay up. Iomoi is just the site for those of you who write letters still and want some funky, hollywood regency style stationery. And for those who ONLY correspond via e-mail, they even have e-stationery you can purchase in a variety of types and styles for just $15 a year! I'm SOLD on all counts!

I realized this morning I have yet to explain exactly what my new little company Element Interiors has to offer beyond the blog. So here is a little bit about my approach to design and how I work:

The purpose of starting this company was to cater to what I believe to be is an underserviced market: young professionals who are too busy to decorate or don't have an interest in it but want thier living space to relect them and functions in a way that makes sense within thier life. This encompasses people buying their first or second condo or first house but also those renting apartments who want to give it character without losing their security deposits! Hiring a "designer" can be intimidating, many have minimum requirements for jobs and so the common folk finds the idea daunting and intimidating.

So here I am! Friendly, approachable, flexible and ready to help!

I love the challenge of working within a budget because there is so much good design out there that doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. I want to listen to what you want out of your space and furniture, how you live within your home and most importantly what makes you happy!

So if you want help just buying new furniture, advice on paint colors, window treatments, rearranging your current furniture to work better for you, adding some accessories to spice it up or redo a place top to bottom, give me a call!

I also have a deep love for event design (and some great experience). I would love to help anyone design the look and style of any event: wedding, dinner party, birthday celebration...you name it! From flowers to centerpieces and invitations, I am your girl.

I charge an hourly fee and a percentage markup on any wholesale goods (which still provides you with a discount over retail-lucky you.)
