Trenton is a Junior in high school this school year! Only two years of high school left! Trenton is an incredibly resilient young man starting at his third high school in 3 years. He is taking it in stride and doesn't mind the earlier wake-up call now that we are here. He leaves at 5:45 am each morning for seminary before school and then goes straight to high school afterwards. He is amazing!!
Ashleigh also has a much earlier wake-up call this year. She started 8th grade this year and has to be on the bus at 6:50 am! She is loving the new school and has made a few friends already. She wasn't sure she was going to love riding the bus for the first time, but she enjoys talking to friends to and from school on it.
Owen also has a much earlier wake-up call at his new Ohio school. He gets on the bus at 7:45 am! That's earlier than he used to wake up in Omaha! He is starting the 4th grade and is excited to have his own locker this year. He wanted to wear all black his first day of school to match his new black shoes (size 6 1/2 in mens) that he LOVES!
The bus is an exciting change for all of the kids this year. Day 3 was today and so far so good!
Dallin is a first grader this year! He is the last one out the door each morning. He catches the bus at 8:45 am which gives him extra time to sleep each morning. He loves riding the bus thank goodness! My mornings are a bit interesting with four different departure times each day, but at least we are never rushed to get everyone out the door. I have an hour to get each one ready!
Dallin sported a lot of green the first day on complete accident. I found the Minecraft backpack at a good price, so I talked him into that. I also found his new Under Armour shoes (size 1 1/2) at the outlet mall on clearance, so he didn't have much say in those either :) But he picked out his green Under Armour shirt and socks for the first day. As he was getting his backpack on, we realized he looks like he really likes green this year. His favorite color is actually red though! Lol. He looked adorable though and very sporty!
I volunteered to help in the cafeteria at lunch the first day of school so that I could check on him. I was so happy to find him sitting by a girl from church who happens to be in his class. He had a great first day! I am trying something new with him for lunch this year. There were many days last year when he would come home without a single thing eaten from his lunchbox. He doesn't move very fast sometimes and is easily distracted. I think the lunchroom craziness is too much for him some days. So, I am using little trays this year so that he can just take off the lid and start eating without having to worry about opening any packages. It seems to be working, but I have been helping in the cafeteria both days this week when he has lunch, so we will see how he does when I'm not there.
I didn't have a chance to snap a picture at the bus the first day, so we made sure to get one the second day. Doesn't he look so happy?!
