Kaylee's Recitals

Kaylee had a very busy day on recital day.  She had three recitals - one dance recital and two baton recitals.    Her recital was dance and her teacher tried to put all her numbers towards the top so that we could leave early to make it in time for her first baton recital. 

I volunteered to work backstage so that we could leave as soon as her last number was over.  It was definitely a fun, different experience.  The girls were so sweet and we had to change them super quick.  However, the view from the side stage is not quite the same as watching from the front.  I can't wait to see the video of how they really did.

Because we had to leave early, we didn't get to stay for awards.  That night, her dance teacher messaged me to let me know that Kaylee had earned dancer of the year for K-2 grades.  She got her trophy Monday.

Team baton girls had to perform in both recitals.  We did make it in time for her number at the first baton recital and then had to stay for the second.  They got a trophy for winning the state baton competition and a medal for winning the state competition.

I'm so proud of Kaylee!

Last Day of School

Today was Kaylee and Troy's last day of school...they couldn't miss the last day - they had perfect attendance for the entire year.

I am so proud of how much they have learned this year.  In the last month, Kaylee's reading skills have really grown and she is doing such a good job in reading.  Right now at night, she reads to her stuffed animal Cuddly every night before they go to bed.

Troy loves math and is very good at it.  Earlier this year, we were calculating something and he was able to calculate faster in his head than I had time to get out my phone calculator and do it.  He also loves to read and you can catch him reading in his bed almost every night.

Tuesday they told me they had learned everything they needed to know this year but yesterday they told me they weren't ready for school to be out because they wanted to keep learning.  I'm so glad they love school.

Awards Day

Troy and Kaylee had their awards day.  The 3rd and 4th grade awards ceremony was together and then the 1st and 2nd graders.

Troy got a certificate for academic excellence in English Language Arts and Math.  He also got an award for music and physical education and he got a perfect attendance certificate for not missing a day the entire year.  Only five students in grades 3 and 4 had perfect attendance and Troy was one of the five.

Kaylee also had perfect attendance.  There were only two students in 1st and 2nd grades that had perfect attendance, and she was one of the two.  Last week, they had a party for students who read 150 books or more.  We barely got them in, but Kaylee finished 150 books and earned a Star Reader certificate.

First Baseball Tournament

Troy tried out for a new team back in the fall and started practicing with them in February.  They had their first tournament today.   I missed most of his games because I was at the baton competition, but as soon as it was over, Kaylee and I rushed to the park.  We got there in time for two games.  The last game, the kids got completely frustrated and came up short, but that meant they still won second place for the first tournament.  Troy was pretty excited about that.

Baton Competition

Kaylee had first baton competition.  Her little team was so precious.  They had to do their routine twice - once for the state competition and once for the AAU competition.  They got first place for both performances.
