Teya's Butterfly Birthday Party
This was Teya's 6th birthday party. She wanted a butterfly birthday! When she was little, we asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said, "I wanna be a butterfly". Too cute!
Turkey Time!!
(November 2012) We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Popo, Grandpa Dong, Uncle Steven, Riley, Aunt Jana, Texas and Zuki (Jana's kids...I mean dogs) all came to celebrate with us. We had such a good time together. I got to decorate the table scape and make a lot of the food. It was fun being in charge this year. I have to say the sweet potatoes were my favorite...although, anything you add brown sugar and marshmallow to - how could anyone NOT like that!
One new tradition I started this year was having everyone write down what they are thankful for on slips of paper (before dinner). Then, I rolled them up and baked them in the croissants. So, during the dinner while they were eating, they found little surprises in the bread..kind of like fortune cookies.

We had a FUN family competition of minute to win it games! It was hilarious...we had a great time! Too bad I didn't take more pics. I must say, these games were so much fun for kids and adults!
Vacation to Utah
(Summer 2012) It has been 5 years since we've visited Utah. It was sooo nice to get back there. We had such a blast. Here's a little summary...
1st. Went to my wonderful cousins' wedding. I love all my cousins...they are so fun to hang out with. He married a beautiful girl...they are just so cute together. The wedding, lunch, and reception were all so beautiful. The bride's dad has his own band, so of course we rocked out and danced a ton.
On Monday, my parents, Jana, Katie's family, and we went to the water park called "Cowabanga". It was so much fun, there's a lot for little kids to do. Chris never wanted to get out of the wave pool. The kids could have stayed their all day. I was so proud of Teya, she went down the scariest ride. A really high tube that was completely dark the whole way down. She said it was scary, but did it...and that's pretty good for Teya (good thing it was the first ride she tried-everything else was easy after that one!)
We visited Temple Square. They have a new visitor center with a children's play area that the kids thought was really cool! Of course seeing the huge temple and Christ image is always a treat!
Then off to BYU's campus! We love that place...A LOT of great memories! Here's the tunnel that Ben and I walked a billion times while we went there!
Of course the BEST highlight was that we got to watch a BYU football practice! We felt pretty special because it's really hard to get in to watch a practice. We were all sporting our BYU shirts! Ben was like a little boy on Christmas morning. :) We love our team!!
At the end of our trip we visited my Grandma Taylor. I love this lady. She's still going strong...she can even play the piano still. She' been my adopted grandma forever. She even sends birthday cards to all of my kids and cousins. She's so awesome. We just love her so much!

The kids met up with their cousins they never get to see. They live in MD, but were staying in UT while Jeff was away for 6 month. Even though they haven't seen each other in a long time, they immediately hit if off and played so well with each other!

Kali's First Race
(May 2012) Kali was in her first Gap2Gap race. She's the first one in our family to try it. It was a really fun race. She was competing with other girls in her age group 6-7 yr olds. It's a relay race. Kali ran the first leg (3/4 mile), then Emily biked the second, Trinity roller-skated the third, then the final leg was an obstacle cores done by Emma. The girls sure gave it their all. I face painted stars and stripes on them and put tinsel in their hair. What a great little team!
Kali ran so fast. She was running with a lot of big boys, thank goodness they weren't really competing with her. They ended up getting 2nd place! YAY! Kali ended up having a huge picture of herself running in the newspaper.

Chris' 6th Birthday
When I asked Chris what kind of birthday party he wanted this year....I was so excited when he said he wanted a MOVIE birthday party. I thought sweet, the kids will just watch a movie. They did play a couple of little games to earn tickets for the concession stand - bean bag toss for popcorn, dinosaur bowling for a pop, then they had to pop a balloon filled with tickets for candy! Once they had their tickets, they bought all their goodies for the movie. Chris wanted to watch "Spy Kids 2". The kids used their tickets throughout the movie to buy candy (I think this was their favorite part).
I was most proud of the cake. I have to say it turned out better than I expected. After I cut out the shape of the cake, I wrapped it in white fondant, then painted red lines on it (at first I tried to make the lines with a fruit roll-up or licorice but that didn't work, so I just painted it with food coloring). I invited the troops (my kids) to help make the "popcorn". It's pretty cool, you just take mini marshmallows rip it into 3 parts, then squish them back together again. Then I painted yellow "butter" on to it. It was all worth it when Chris said, "Mom, that was an AWESOME party...thanks so much!".
I was so proud of Chris, he was so thankful for all his presents. Earlier in the day, we surprised him with his new bike. He loved it! So his brother got his old bike, now they all can ride bikes..YAY!
