Big boy-26 Months
We are trapped in the house! Nope no one is sick thank goodness but someone IS learning to use the potty!
This fellar:
Last week I was just saying how he wasn't ready. We bought him a seat quite a while ago and he wouldn't go for anything. But just the other night as he was getting out of the bath he said "go potty"! He hopped on and went potty and has been going in the potty ever since! I'm thrilled and so is he! He goes in to giggle fits every time he goes. He is so proud and there is a lot of excitement around our house right now.
He wanted to tell his grandparents first thing. He called Nan Suz on the phone and told her all about going potty.
Lots of practicing, lots of sitting in the bathroom, lots of waiting, lots of laughing, lots of celebrating!
Good job buddy! We are proud as can be!

Gooseafurd
Do you make up your own words?
I surely hope so.
It’s fun and every time I use a word that I made up I wonder if anyone else in this world has said or thought of that same word.
Like gooseafurd. Pronounced goose-a-furd.
I believe it originated from saying “silly goose” to “silly gooseafurd” to just “you’re a gooseafurd”
It’s just plain ridiculous but it makes my mister smirk every time.
I think that’s why I like it so much.
I hope Zealand someday calls his kids “silly gooseafurds”
And I wonder if I will ever grow up because certainly I cannot be considered a grown up or taken seriously for that matter while going around saying words like “gooseafurd”

A song for my Little Boy
Friday night I got a little night on the town sans baby boy and husband. (But sans Zealand and Dan anything I don’t really prefer)But by the end of the night I was so happy I went! Thanks Michelle!
So out for some Guru’s take out and The Rooftop Concert Series.
Although I wasn’t really too familiar with 2 out of the 3 artists I left with a list of music to add to itunes.
The line up:
Ryan Innes
Mindy Gledhill
Meaghan Smith
I came away with two songs to dedicate to each of my boys the one in which I ended up teary eyed. Yes I know.
But just listen to the words of this…
The song for my love ? "poor" By Meaghan Smith.
We will definitely be attending the Joshua James night. The atmosphere on the rooftop with lanterns hanging above and the backdrop of the mountains is summer perfect.
Thanks Michelle for the pics!

"In the depth of winter, we find within us an invincible summer"
Dan’s graduation was April 29th and since then I’ve glimpsed the life of a maniac. Maniac meaning someone, who leaves their home at daylight and returns far past sundown with enough time to shovel in a midnight snack (literally), brush the teeth, wash the mug, and hit the sheets x 2… meaning mine and the little boys. I understand that is not the true definition of a maniac but that is what doing all of that has made me feel like.
We have had two collage graduations, one high school graduation, and one still to come. Family members from Japan, Virginia, Montana, Logan, California, come and go. A birth of a new and very beautiful little girl Sophia (my sisters), all the while working, job hunting, church calling fulfilling, RAGNAR training, planning, preparing, and throwing a baby shower, endless celebration dinners, and coping with some significant news of our own.
Birth of Sophia:
My sister and her husband have been going through fertility procedures for quite some time. One day my good friend Beth called me up and had remembered from a conversation me mentioning my sister and her situation. Well Beth was calling with some awesome news. She knew a birth mom that was looking for someone right away. The birth mom had ties with Beth and so Beth had my sister and her husband meet with the birth mom THAT VERY NIGHT. What a selfless action, she had never even met my sister, so amazing of Beth.
From there it was a roller coaster. I have not experienced the process of adoption on either side so personally before. But my respect and appreciation for birth moms and adoptive moms as well has truly grown tenfold. Adoption is such an amazing and trying thing. It is a bitter sweet experience! I know everyone involved has been so blessed.
But out of this has come a beautiful and perfect little girl who I am so excited to be able to know for the rest of my life.
Welcome sweet Sophia.

Since graduation Dan has been a job hound. Searching consistently and constantly for a job as well as taking a summer class, making the preparations to take the GMAT and to apply for graduate school. I think anyone can agree with me that job hunting and applying to schools is so exciting but brings the stress of the unknown, everything is up in the air!
I think the job sitch is near its end and depending on what happens we could be in a different state by July! Oooooooooo boy! Then who knows where after that depending on what colleges accept!
We had a huge ward split and so received all new callings in our new ward. Which has actually been a blessing for two reasons: 1. We are nursery leaders! Whoop! Church has bumped up on Zealand’s awesome list for sure; hopefully he doesn’t get too comfortable, we can’t be with his nursery leaders forever. and 2. It is a quick way to get to know others.
For 3 weeks out of the past 3 ½ Zealand has been as sick as a dog. I was completely convinced he had whooping cough although he has had his full course of vaccines (yep I vaccinate, oh the horror) . Diagnosis: Croup and a sinus infection that held onto Zealand for dear life! Thankfully after a round of antibiotics and a steroid, things have been looking up this past week.
I feel like I’ve been blessed with a “ain’t nothing gonna break my stride” (that is going to be stuck in your head all day now…”ohhh no I got to keep on movin”) attitude through whatever comes along but there were a few days this month where I really struggled.
On one of those particular days I received a very unexpected surprise package from a blog friend! It was plum full of things from my most favorite place on earth. The place that no one can be sad…no not Disney Land… Hawaii! It had chocolates, locals, lotion, and the most hilarious post card ever ! I promptly slipped the “slippas” on my feet popped a chocolate in my mouth and popped the lotion lid to get a nice whiff. My day turned from doom and gloom to a sunshine, worry free day! I'm not sure if she wants me to name her name so I will just say you know who you are and if I have not said it enough THANK YOU MY LOVE! You're the coolest!
People are so amazingly kind and selfless. I am so grateful for the love and support of family and friends.
It is the simple fact of knowing they care that gives me all the hope I need.
Speaking of hope the quote that title's this post came from a really powerful talk given by one of my favorites. I happened upon it one night and although I have read it several times before it has never been so powerful. I could fill a book with the awesome quote's that come from it. Here it is: The Infinite Power of Hope
And now for a round up of pictures from the past month, except when I started downloading pictures from our camera I realized that not many pictures were taken, how sad...so just a few out of the 100 that should have been taken:

So proud of my love. Now onto better things :)
My nephew Seth graduated from Provo High! We could not be more proud of him! He is one of a kind!
Z & J and The Fireman's breakfast
This picture makes me laugh, all the pictures I took of Zealand graduation day were blurry. He was so good but his two year old bottom of course could just not sit still.
