Wednesday was our Anniversary, number 4 to be exact.
These four years have been a whirlwind and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.
I haven't figured out how or why he puts up with me, I am demanding, and expect a lot out of him, and I'm not the nicest. But I haven't quite figured out how to put up with him. . . I just figure I have a long time to figure that out.
We had plans to go skiing, and even out to a movie and dinner, since the dinner and movie would pratically be free with certificates. What actually happened, a replay of his birthday. Movie and a pizza. At least we got smart this time and moved the big couch into the play room.
The first memory of him was at the singles branch, we had to give a talk the same day, so we sat by each other. I remember thinking. . . man him look how skinny his legs are compared to mine. . . I think they still are skinnier than mine.
I remember at stake conference my mom asked me who he was, and why I didn't date him.
I said, "MOM he's short."
Her reply, "Your short."
Guess what. . . .
Next thing I know, I am buying flats for the dance. . . gained about 70lbs, got a horrible short haircut, had a baby and the nurses think I am 30 and my husband is still in high school. Great times.
OH . .
and our kids are short too.
Sometimes he makes me laugh, then he gets a kick out of making me laugh, starts trying to hard and ruins it.
He can't do the bon qui qui/ de white impression at all, he's total white boy hick.
He can fix almost anything, and it's great.
He never really complains about working, that to me is awesome. But I think part of that is because going to work is actually a break from being at home.
He is a great friend and support even when I don't realize it, or act like it.

quirks
Maura tagged me a few weeks ago.

1. I constantly make lists. Any unsuspecting scrap of paper be it mail, envelopes, coloring pages, or even ads- which don't work so well they do a pretty good job of using every inch of that paper for advertising- will and can be used by grabbing the nearest pen, pencil, crayon, marker, colored pencil, water colors. I have no idea how many lists I make a day, but I am sure the number is embarrassing and sickening. I have had to limit my self to one notebook, and it hasn't been going real well.
2. I literally can and will forget/lose everything. I guess that's why I make so many lists. And examples, I lost my phone Saturday, found it today. This would be the first time. . .this month. Not the first time for last month, since technically it happened in both months. The only people as forgettful than I am are my mother and brother(Matt), she likes to call me Matilda, but I know I am just Karen Jr.
3. I am the nosiest private person I think I know. I love to know what is going on. Like the time the tornado struck the area, and I just had to pretend to live down a street so I could see why they had blocked it off. I seriously don't do this on purpose, but I am quite and people talk loud. I often listen in some people are quite amusing. But I get freaked when other people know things about me that I haven't told them, and I am not the quickest to tell people what is going on.
4. I am very determined/competitive. I think it goes hand in hand. If you tell me I can't, I will. If you tell me to, I won't- especially if you are in my family. If you beat me I will be mad. If I win I will gloat. Not my proudest moments, but it has driven me push myself further than I would on my own.
5. I love to work, whether it's outside or in. I love it. Gardening, raking leaves, mowing the grass, laundry, drywall, painting walls, sewing, cooking, anything. I think it's the combination of things looking nice and and the chance to mark something off my lists. I can't sit still unless I am sick, pregnant, or it's 8:00 at night.
6. I love to play hard. If I'm not working on a project, I am having fun or really mad that I'm not.

Thanksgiving 2008

This is us before the race, believe me we looked a lot different afterwards, much redder. This was the first year for us and the first 10K. We came in just under 1:05, which was pretty good considering the lack of training. I can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner so much more after running this.

It's all fun and games till your brother eats all your pie.

We had our "First ANNAL Rosenberg Family Table Tennis Tournament". My Dad made a freudian when making our bracket poster. I beat Jeremie, and I didn't even have to play him. Jeremie could have gotten a new TV if he beat my Dad, but he choked. The offer still stands, lets just say I'm pretty confident in my father.

Jeremie and I had a lot of fun going out shopping. It's nice having a husband that enjoys this type of thing. Let's just say it was a good thing we had a van. Special thanks to grandma and "bad papaw" for watching the kids.
After a long nap, our next tradition is going Downtown, first stop the train display.

The only two kids tall enough to reach the head holes, umm imagine that.

What a ham, I told her to smile that's what she came up with.

I love the way he studies things.

She was enjoying it I promise.

Their cute little display guy.

This would have been cuter if jeremie hadn't walked right in front of the picture. They were so cute.
Second Stop, Santa Clause at Macy's.

This is as close as she would get.

That's a lot closer than I thought she would ever get.

The bravest kid there, o'gosh was he cute, he had the biggest smile ever.

Okay he finally did it after some coercing. His smile is cute, but there is some terror still in his eyes. hehehe.

So this is where we almost left him, we were done right? Everybody had a chance to sit on his lap? Yep, lets go eat we are starving. One, two, three, four, wait there's suppose to be five, KENNIE? Luckily he was right where we left him, in a trance checking out what this guy is all about. BTW, we only got like 50 ft away. . . . luckily.
Okay the third stop was the food court, nothing real interesting, except for kids playing in a waterless fountain, and a drunk lady puking up blood. Gotta love downtown.
Last stop Tree Lighting

He loved it, I promise. I wonder where Lilly get's it from ummmm. . .

Kennie thought it was hilarious to put his hat on Daddie.
Trying to stay warm and watch some fireworks.

she finally started to warm up to them.

Ever Wonder?
Have you ever wondered what might be in a nurses lunch bag?
I have.
Today I was cleaning the kitchen and noticed Jeremie's lunch bag. Went to move it and it was HEAVY! So I thought I wonder if they got fed and he left some perishable food inside, since he's not working till Saturday I thought I should inspect the inside. I opened it and this is what I found.
12 forceps
6 medical scissors
5 rolls of med tape
136 alcohol swabs
3 highlighters
5 dry erase markers
1 permant marker
5 pens
1 penlight stick
1 nine-volt battery- still don't know what that was for maybe shock therapy or something?
2 suckers- ya we are suppose to be on a sugar free diet.
3 used Q-tips- he claims they weren't used but they were dirty enough to be considered used
1 wound marker- it's like a pen with a ruler I don't know it's nurse stuff?!
1 wound care sticker- I guess they label each wound? Oh I was just informed it goes in the chart after they assess a wound. Which poor sucker got that left out of their chart? OKay it was blank but still.
1 pencil- you aren't even suppose to use pencil!
1 wallet- and all that is included in that,
1 coupon for 25% off next purchase in cafeteria- he doesn't even eat in the cafeteria
1 apple
2 saline flushes
2 chapsticks, he even admitted there used to be 4
1 badge thing, you know it holds your badge with that retractable cord.
1 paper clip
1 button, and not a button that had fallen off of something a button like a pin button- okay okay , if he gets three he gets put in a drawing to win a gift card, I'll give him the weird button.
1 27 gauge needle
and
1 micro clave
I wish I had picture, of when i dumped it out but you get the idea. Right?
I have.

Hocking Hills
Kennie well he was just ready for bed.
Hallie woke up as soon as we got there, and really liked checking out the place.
I was worried how the carriers would work, but it was awesome. The backpack was one of the best finds at a thriftstore. It was only like 5 dollars. I got the hipster(at least that's what I call it) from a friend. It was totally awesome. Kennie and I kept eachother warm which was really nice.
Couldn't resist doing the hawk after his hair got wet from some rain water.
Hallie taking it all in.
Why I call it the wock and waadoo trip, ever time he saw them he would get so excited, at least for the first day. He'd try to jump out of the carrier to play in the water, and shout at every stream and rock on the path. It almost got old, but he's just so cute about it all.
The tree roots systems are amazing I know it's not that great of a picture. But they were just the coolest things. But I think Hallie has seen one too many movies where trees are kind of scary, okay maybe just Snow White.
They hiked a whole mile back to the car, it was a lot of fun to see them go at it.
Our cute little cabin, it was soo nice, and soooo clean, who could ask for more?
This was probably the most intense hike we went on, you had to cross that bridge at the very top of the picture, and work your way down. It scared the kids enough that they didn't even ask to be let out. I can't remember were it was, there was a boyscout group and all I can remember is that they really wanted to go through Fat Lady Sqeeze or just say it, and keep saying that that is what they did on the campout. Imagine that, boys!
Ya this picture is cute, but boy was this cave scary. It's a huge cave called the rock house and the kids wanted to climb everywhere, while Jeremie check out deeper caves, OH Man!. I got him back though, needless to say he learned his lesson, and no one got hurt in the process.
He became so indepdent on this trip, in a very scary way. At least there were no cliffs around this time.
I thought it might snow, but I had no idea it would be enough to play in. I am glad they both can enjoy it this year so I can watch from a distance rather than entertain.
Ever heard the phrase "killing with kindness", pretty much sums up the bear hug he was trying to give me.

I know life isn't easy but COME ON!
So last night I couldn't get to sleep not being of a deal, I kept myself busy with the computer and books, until I could finally feel sleep coming on which was about 3:00 in the morning, but my kids haven't gotten this whole time switch for some reason. They are still getting up at their usually 7:00 just predaylight savings. Jeremie was off so I just hoping that he would be willing to take his turn for morning duty.
I would like it to be known I don't mind 7 the actual normal 7 o clock, It gets me going a little earlier than I would on my own, but that it good for me in a sense.
6:00 comes around and just like clock work they are up and off, saddly we weren't. I kept poking Jeremie trying to get him to make sure they aren't doing anything and to watch them at the very least stick in a movie and fall asleep on the couch. I know I could have done this but I still haven't felt 100% yet, and I keep saying if I could just get a whole 8 hours I might feel better. All of the sudden in my sleepy stuppor I smell something. THAT IS NEVER GOOD.
It's not the poopy explode diaper smell either, it's the chemicals burning your nose smell and killing your brain cells smell. I open my eyes and Jeremie's gone so I try to fall back asleep and let him worry about the smell. I keep getting woken up by the stench though, and Hallie comes running up to the bed naked. She REAKS! I just ignore it though to tired to care. I just didn't have the energy to deal with this.
Then I finally connect the smell. NAIL POLISLH AND NAIL POLISH REMOVER! I open my eyes to see my crazy children, whom I am debating whether or not to sell if the price is right.

In this picture they shouldn't be smiling. I was one step away from putting them on the corner with and cardboard sign saying FREE. They were just lucky I wasn't the one who saw them first, and that I never did see the bathroom floor pre cleanup.
Is this where the story ends my dears OH NO. So if you have been wondering what I have been up to for the last month that would be one the first part a trimester of pregnancy knocking me on my butt. Followed by a miscarriage, which ended in a D and C. Which I spent a week, trying to avoid by taking horrible cramping medication laced with wonderful vicodin and perocet. Followed by catching a bug. Followed by kids getting foot and mouth. Followed by the latest and greatest news. I AM FREAKING PASSING A KIDNEY STONE. It's gotta get better RIGHT!
Oh I forgot to mention the election.

Having a Van
Okay this is a little embarrassing, but here it goes.
When someone was making fun of their sister about never doing anything on her own with her twin boys, and how they are going to go through a shock when they move away from home.
I spoke up because it was then that I actually realized. I haven't really had to go out with my kids on my own at all. A visiting teaching message here and there, a playgroups or garden group. I can't even remember running any errands. I walk with them all the time around the town, and go to the library and park but seldom have I ever taken both of them in the car somewhere with me, I think I could count the number of times on one hand, okay maybe two.
Now that wasn't exactly the reason we bought a van, but it made me a little more anxious about getting one, all the things that I was going to be doing alone. I don't deal well with that at times. I LOVE alone time, but doing things with kids is another story.
The reason was I just started craving independence, and the van was the answer for now. And it's great. Today, I got to clean up a little, looked at the clock and made a deadline for me to be out of the house and on the way to working out, I was running around trying to make the unreasonable deadline I set for myself and realized, I have a car, I have a choice I don't HAVE to be there, no one is going to honking for me, or waiting at the gym, sorry babysitter lady, I know you're going to be there till 12:30. It was so refreshing, I was able to leave, yes at 8:15 not 8:00 like I thought I was going to.
I know it's not that big of a deal, but today was the first time, I have decided when to workout, when to go to the library - and how long to stay there. At least the good library. Along with grocery shopping, and being able to grab the things on MY list and get the heck out of their before my kids start jumping out of the ridiculous red car cart that they somehow tricked me into getting once again. I was able to make sure we were home for lunch and nap time. And man does it feel great. I like this having a van thing.
Oh btw, I need some advice. My child is a lunatic, and has learned how to undo the top of the carseat. Not only this but he burst into tears and biting mode when I even pick him up to put him in the carseat. So I have to wrestle him in after being bitten and pinched, click the carseat- which is a another task in and of itself. causing a few more bruises. Then I start the car only to turn around and realize he has unclicked the top part and is now only retricted by the bottom half! It started with him learning to move the little plastic piece down and manuvering his arms out to be free, but he totally undoes it now! He is way to little for this by size alone. I've only seen this before when little Jeremy was little, but he was a big boy and was able meet the guideline for a booster. Kennnie has a least two more years of growing till I could even think about it. What can I do. We are going to Hocking Hills this weekend, and I can't drive all that way with a kid only half in the carseat.

Happy Happy Birthday- okay not so much.

So yesterday was Jeremie's birthday, I wish I had more pictures. Okay no I don't because then you would know how lame the day was. Truth is I believe we have only gotten pictures of 1 of his birthday's since we have been together. That year i didn't even make him a cake because we just had eaten the last of Hallie's birthday cake, and didn't want to have another one lying around, we did make a nice doughnut mound and stuck candles in them though.
There is a reason to the madness though, it's not that I love to make a huge deal out of everyone else's birthday and just not his. I am ALWAYS sick on his birthday, and not the sneezing cold symptom sick, it's the going to the hospital and doctor's appointments every few days sick. I try my hardest to make it special and it just never seems to work out.
So we had a nice a day that included a nap for one and all but Hallie. And a haircut, continued with getting a Rx and waiting for Jeremie's mom to pick up the kids. Finished with a pizza/ movie and opening presents from the box and suitcase I have been hiding them in. Amazing and wonderful all at the same time. I know.
There is a reason for the haircut, on the birthday, the last day he worked I got so many questions about the back of his head. Sooo we decided to get it cut it's a little bit less noticeable when it's super short.(if you can't tell he's got a bit of a bald spot on the back of his head) not exactly the male patterned baldness one would expect. And everytime I would look at the back of his head I immediately thought of this.
Can I have your Number?
Because yesterday the back of his head did look ridiculous.
Anyway, It has been a wonderful year and at times like this I am just amazed at the wonder man I got to marry, and the amazing father he is.
I love you Jeremie.
