Willensfreiheit - Hume, Leibniz, Rousseau

Als Handlungsfreiheit bestimmt die Willensfreiheit auch HUME: Freiheit ist nichts als die Macht, zu handeln oder nicht zu handeln, je nach dem Beschlu des Willens (a power of acting or not acting, according to the determination of the will, Inqu. VIII, sct. 1). Thus it appears tbat the conjunction between motives and voluntary actions is as regular and uniform as that between the cause and effect in any part of nature (Ess. on liberty). I, 34 f., 150, 193). The doctr. of philos. necess.2, 1782, p. 7 ff., 13). Without a miracle or the intervention of some foreign cause, no volition or action of any man could have been otherwise, than it has been. Though an inclination or affection of mind be not gravily, it influences me and acts upon me as certainly and necessarily, as this power does upon a stone (l. c. p. 26, 37). hnliche Argumente wie bei Hume werden vorgebracht. A man indeed, when he reproaches himself for any particalar action in his passed conduct, may fancy that, if he was in the same situation again, he would have acted differently. But thio is a mere deception. and if he examines himself strictly, and takes in all circumstances, he may be satisfied that, with the same inward disposition of mind, and with precisely the same view of things, tbat he had then, and exclusive of all others, that he has required by reflection since, he could not have acted otherwise than he did (l. c. p. 90 ff.). I, ch. 11, p. 186 ff.). Moralphilos. S. 70). Den theologischen Determinismus lehrt J. EDWARDS (Treat. on the will, 1754). - Vgl. D'ALEMBERT, Mel. DESTUTT DE TRACY bestimmt die Freiheit als la puissance d'excuter sa volont, d'agir conformment son dsir (Elm. d'idol. IV, p. 108).

Einen vermittelnden Standpunkt nimmt LEIBNIZ ein. Freiheit ist zunchst Spontaneitt. Libertas est spontaneitas intelligentis (Gerh. VII, 108. vgl. IV, 354 ff.). 230, 288, Erdm. p. 590 a. Nouv. Ess. II, 8, Erdm. p. 252 b). 889 ff., 931. Psychol. rational.. Philos. pract. I, 12). Aphor. I, 1004). II, 512 ff.). Die Willensfreiheit im indeterministischen Sinne lehrt H. MORE. Ferner CLARKE (5. By the liberty of a moral agent, I understand a power over the determinations of his own will (Ess. on the pow. III, 264), BEATTIE (On truth II, 3. Ess. p. 191 ff.) u. a. II, 59, 64, 143). Liberum arbitrium indifferentiae lehrt CRUSIUS (Vernunftwahrh. 450 ff.. Anl. S. 26, 48).
