AMOS 1 [Spacecom]
The Israeli AMOS 1 (Affordable Modular Optimized Satellite) communications satellite was developed by Israel Aircraft Industries with assistance from DASA and Alcatel Espace for Spacecom.
The 1000 kg-class satellite carried 7 Ku-band transponders (plus two spares) for Eurasian communications services, including Direct-To-Home TV broadcasting and VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) applications.
After shared launch on an Ariane-44L H10-3 rocket in 1996, it was operated was placed in its allocated slot at 4 West longitude. Later the AMOS 2 satellite was colocated.
In 2009 the satellite was sold to Intelsat, which used it from an inclined orbit at 47.3 East under the designation Intelsat 24.
