Venessa here! Thank you for visiting my shiny new Patreon, where I hope we can make some fun and beautiful stuff together! A bit about my flagship projects: Manu is a queer urban fantasy webcomic about the quest for identity, community, and love that takes the A Train to Washington Heights from the shores of Old San Juan: Manuela is at the height of a lucrative music career when a loved one’s death unearths a family secret – that she is the last in a line of powerful mediums capable of channeling vast spiritual energy. Told she must reawaken her dormant powers to meet a mysterious threat to the urban community she left behind, Manu is forced out of her high-class solitary lifestyle and pulled into the center of a rash of crimes. With the help of her brilliant cousin Ivan, the insufferably righteous Delia, and the Spiritual Realm, she must wield her extraordinary abilities in defense of New York City’s most vulnerable or else lose her soul to the darkness.</div> When the Tides Held the Moon is a queer historical fantasy-romance about found family, chasing freedom, and coming home, set in Coney Island’s magical golden era:  Benny, a young Puerto Rican migrant with chronic asthma, is beginning to lose faith in a life beyond the smoke-filled furnaces of the ironworks when a strange commission falls into his lap. Tasked with designing a massive water tank for the proprietor of a Luna Park freak show, he soon finds himself roped into helping kidnap its intended inhabitant: a merman with blue eyes, pewter skin, and a grudge against humanity. When Benny leaves beam rolling behind to become a day laborer for Morgan’s Menagerie of Human Oddities, its seasoned crew of curiosities adopt him as one of their own while he secretly cares for the creature he helped cage. But as his affection for the merman in the tank grows, Benny begins to better understand the forces that have held him captive as well, realizing that freedom isn’t about what you can see—it’s about what you believe. Thank you so much for your interest in supporting my work, and I look forward to sharing my art and stories with you!
