We have been working for more than twenty years on conservation projects on the coasts and islands of the Pacific Ocean, particularly in the state of California, Hawaii and Chile. Along with this, we have collaborated on conservation and education initiatives in territories as diverse as Antarctica, New Zealand and Mono Lake, for the protection of threatened species and ecosystems.

Based out of Dr. Peter Hodumâs Conservation Ecology Lab at the University of Puget Sound, Oikonos conducts research, education and community outreach projects focused on conserving native species and habitats, from urban green spaces to islands of the outer coast of Washington. The lab also provides support for Oikonos projects in Chile.
