| Urgent request, for a family member |

I know this is an extraordinary request, and I really do not like making it. At all. But the situation is quite urgent. I have been helping my mother with her expenses or the past three and a half years. However, it's gotten to where I cannot cover a particularly big expense by myself. Her landlord is demanding $885 for back rent by Monday morning at 0800 CDT or she may face an eviction notice. She was able to put in $200. I can probably put in at least $300, though my credit cards are almost maxed out due to her expenses stacking up, beyond my means and hers put together. Now she does finally have work but it won't be enough for this month. Also: this will likely force me to move in with her to save money (about $8-900/month if I give up my apartment). If you cannot help, or choose not to help, that is understandable, and I will accept that without judgement. But -- if any of you can help in any way, I can send you instructions where one can send a payment to help her out. I'm doing my part, as much as I can handle. I am also going to be starting work doing overnight stocking. It won't be a lot, but it will help. If you do decide to help, tell me, and tell -her-. She will find a way to compensate you. She will promise you that. Thank you for your consideration.

Due to some confusion about my position, I've replaced my journal entry with this:
Let me make a clarification about the BBC news article, so my opinions are not misunderstood:
- The article itself is surprisingly good, for not immediately going on the attack and spewing every single misconception we've all heard before.
- I am not upset at anyone that was interviewed for it. Everyone seemed to actually behave themselves, for once.
What I got upset about was not the reporter, nor any of the participants. What I got upset about was there being any articles about fandom at all. I know I cannot control what people write about, or who talks to the media. But, to me, It's like they've (whether intentionally or not) ripped into one of my deep, dark secrets of my like, and laid it bare for everyone to gawk at. I'm already very shy as it is. This sort of thing makes it worse, making me want to crawl into a hole and hide. I got enough harassment in the past, and this is like ripping that old wound open. It's a personal issue, nothing more.
----------
But let me make it clear - I am not upset at anyone featured in this particular story.
No offense was intended, and apologize if any was inferred. |

I will be staying at the Fairmont, from Thursday through Monday nights, January 21-25, 2010, for Further Confusion. Right now, I have two others in the room, for at least four of those nights (I think Monday's the odd one out, right now). If I get a fourth person, he or she will need to have an inflatable mattress. I think I ordered a roll away, but that, and the one queen bed -together- can handle only the three I have.
If you or anyone you know is interested, message me here, at roofae@me.com, via AIM, YIM or ICQ, or on the mucks I'm on.
I am a non-smoker, non-drinker, private, secular, and progressive - but tolerant of "alternate" lifestyles.. rather live-and-let-live on that.
Druggies, drunks, wild partiers, or bigots of any sort need not apply.
Anyone else - just message me and we will discuss it.
Thank you. |

I got to meet Seth Green, one on one Thursday night, but in the most odd way possible.
The Robot Chicken Star Wars Tour was at a roller rink here in Kansas City. Kind of neat, if hot and crowded.
In a fit of insanity bravery, I decided to give it a go. I got around two thirds of the way, then.. *crunch*
I ended up fracturing my arm, just below the shoulder. >.< But, as I was being patched up in the ambulance, who shows up?
Seth, himself! He brought out a autographed shirt and signed my DVD. I also got pictures, and their videographer got a couple minutes with me. Amazing.
But, now, my right arm is in a sling, for six to eight weeks. :P What I worry about is how I'll pay for this, when my employer doesn't offer insurance (Even after ten years of employment)? The rink? (doubtful). Seth and co.? (riiiight). Hmm. Any thoughts?
I -did- enjoy myself though! I don't regret going. I'll need skating lessons for Xmas. ;)

From the Stuff No One Really Cares About Dept.:
If you really want to meet me at Anthrocon (I know, unlikely!), you can message me here for the number, or email roofae(at)me.com (or IM me on ICQ, YIM or AIM).
I will be staying at the Doubletree, -somewhere-. Specifics may or may not be posted here depending on it I can get good enough Wifi Access at the hotel.
Or just look for me. I'll have my Roofae badges on, at least in Con areas. I -am- a bit reserved and quiet, so, you may need to introduce yourself first. |

A while back, I got an offer to attend Anthrocon. I may take it. However, I found that the room reservation from the person offering it was only for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. So.. that leaves Sunday night(7/5) to be a bit of a question mark for me. So I need to ask:
Does anyone have, or know anyone who has, room space for Sunday night?
I don't like to be a pain about it, but that's about the only thing that's preventing me from going at present.
Please contact me at roofae@mac.com if you have a potential offer for me.
(Note: I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs, and I'm rather quiet and keep to myself. So - I am looking for something similar.)
Thank you.

Well, I -hope- I do!
I'll be in town yet again for you-know-what, you-know-where.
I'll be at the Doubletree from Thursday afternoon until at least Monday. Tuesday if room space can be procured (and it should be).
If anyone wishes to call me, message me privately, and I can send you that information.
Maybe I'll actually get to meet a few people this time that I kept missing. |

Regardless of who you want from he White House on down, don't throw away your chance. It's too important to neglect.
I don't like being preachy, but, this really is too important to blow off. |
