| And ANOTHER site that offers flowers online!
www.ftdfloristsonline.com
I tried FTD.com before but didn't find anything. But with ftdfloristsonline, you put in your city and state, pick a shop, and you can see all the FTD stuff and order it. There's stuff in everyone's price ranges, even the people who thought my last two posts were overboard (I still think proflowers is cheap!). | comments: Leave a comment |
| This wedding is going to happen in 15 days and it is turning into hell. I have no flowers as of right now b/c things are screwed. My dress has not been altered tho i have my appt. Monday...My dad is being a jerk...He went out and bought a suit, sports jacket with tie and all..Now this might not sound bad....but my groom is wearing JEANS for crying out loud. My dad then had the nerve to tell me that I never told him...which I have told him from the very beginning and he didn't even ask me what i'd like him to wear or even knows what colors we are using...so I don't know. I did kinda yell at him, and I feel somewhat bad, but I am not going to let him give me the guilt trip because this isn't my fault. He said it was too late to take the suit back because it was paid for and he all ready sent it off to get tailored..wtf...he didn't tell me any of this before doing so and then went on to tell me how he "wanted to look nice for his baby" well yeah, I understand that, but geez, he didn't even tell me first, I could have saved him all of this trouble. I know I'm sounding like a bridezilla but he's going to look out of place and it DOES matter to me, I don't want him to be dressed different than my FH, it's just not going to look right and I'm so upset at this point I'm crying. I dont know what else to do. I know my dad doesn't have that kind of money to be spending on a suit but i don't know what to do.
I'm sorry for the rant everyone, I have planned this wedding by myself and he hasn't even asked me anything about it.not even what kind of dress i was wearing. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

| Some background on me and my partner, since this is my first post here. I've been with my partner ( furpants_tom) for just over four years, living together for three, engaged for about two, now. I'm 22, he's 21. We're both in our honours year of a B.A, which is why we haven't gotten around to actually GETTING married yet, but we've set the date for 16th September, 2006. Since we're both doing History honours this year, our theses are due on the same date (11th August), and so we're holding off most of the planning until after that. I'm heavier than I'd like to be - a size 20/22. Most of this is because I was heavily bulimic for most of my teens, into my very early twenties, and so for the last couple of years I've been trying not to diet or give myself rules about food, and psychologically, I'm doing very well. I do want to drop a few sizes (pretty much just to a 14/16 - I look quite awesome at that size) by the wedding, but Tom and I have decided that it's best not to focus on that until after our theses are in, because the added stress isn't good for me. Neither of our mothers agree, however. My mum's always passing me diet books, and HIS mum, whenever we go over there for dinner (about once a week), always puts about half as much food on my plate as she does for her two sons. Even though both of them know about the bulimia. Even though both of them know I'm not dieting or trying to lose weight until after my thesis is in. His family's Catholic, but he's pretty lapsed, and my parents are athiest so we decided on a civil ceremony. His mother keeps asking if I want to meet their parish priest, even though Tom's told her about a million times that he and I both want a civil ceremony. I can't imagine what it'll be like once we actually get around to the proper planning. Grrr. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Hi, all... new here, and figured I'd take the opportunity to blow off some steam...
First, it's a small wedding... as in 28 including me, my fiance, the officiant, and children. The space is free (courtesy of his sister - it's the apt complex clubhouse), it's going to be a potluck reception (please, don't make funny faces, it's his family tradition), emailed invitations ('cause I'm a geek, lol), and it's not fancy dress, so it'll be under $500 total.
I don't want to do this anymore.
He says that he didn't want to do what I wanted for the wedding because he thought that it'd turn into a massive, messy production. I wanted the dress, printed invitations, an additional 10 people on the guest list, somewhere close to my house, and inexpensive decorations. Financially, I could have carried all of that (except the location) out of my own pocket. I'm not going to get any of that, because in the interests of preserving peace, I'm letting him have his way.
With less than four weeks to go, and virtually nothing accomplished, I want to scrap all the plans that have been made. I want to drop it down to he and I, my kids, the officiant, and two or three witnesses, and no goddamned party. That's it. But no, he doesn't want that either. He's insisting on having the potluck reception because he feels obligated to throw a party for his family. If I want any sort of order or nice presentation, I have to do it myself, and it feels like he's blocking me every way that he can, whether the current issue is financial, emotional, logistical, or whatever. (We're both very pigheaded people.)
He virtually accuses me of trying to make this into a production, while he's pushing me into doing it by insisting on the current plans. I'm frustrated, pissed off, irritated, and just downright scared. I'm tired of rolling over for him on this, but if I don't, things are going to get messy. I feel like I'm being forced into the role of a trained monkey performing for everyone else's benefit, and for me, that's horribly degrading. Ugh.
I see it getting to the point where it's not about me, even in the slightest degree. It's not my wedding; it's his family's wedding, if you know what I mean, and that's all because of him. A sheep could fill in for me and nobody would know the difference. *cries*
I have never been so miserable in my life. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
| OK, when she had a chance back in DECEMBER, one of my bridesmaids who lives halfway across the country from me refused to have her measurements done for her dress. Everyone else went ahead and did theirs at that time. I have no idea why this one wouldn't get hers done then (she does not have weight to lose or anything and is not gaining weight for any reason). Because now she has to go out on her own dime to find a place to have measurements done and, as predicted, she has not done it by my March 15 deadline. She says she will do it next week, but I just know she will forget then, too. This is a dear friend all the way from first grade, but PLEASE. She is a known forgetful person and loses everything all the time. When we encouraged her to do measurements, maybe we should have been more forceful.
I know this is going to be a struggle. Should I just let it go and decide it's on her back whether she gets the right size dress or not??? | comments: Leave a comment |
