There's new fic over on AO3.

. . . that is pretty much all.  I wanted to post, but I am just crazy tired.  Real life has been a bit overwhelming lately.  Nothing too terrible, just lots of stuff going on. 

I have not made manips in forever.  I made a couple for Hellboy fandom, mostly Nuala-centric, but haven't REALLY gotten into it since my Spuffy days.  There is, in one way, something REALLY silly about, say, making fake wedding pictures for fictional people, but on the other hand, it's challenging and artistic and fun without requiring . . hrm, how to put this . . a certain base level of creativity?  It requires imagination, certainly, but it's more like putting together a puzzle than creating a painting.  There's something soothing about that (though I like painting too).

Also, I finished the zombie fic with bonus meta.  It went places I REALLY didn't expect it to go, and it kinda KEPT DOING THAT as I wrote it.  This fic started out as, "I wanna write mission fic for Natasha, but I suck at creating mission-like scenarios and I'm feeling lazy that way so, hey, let's see what I can borrow in the way of a crossover/fusion - oh, this has zombies!  And situations that would make Natasha uncomfortable!  SCORE!  Oh, hey, and there's an AI in here, too, isn't there?"

 . . . and yeah, then Natasha had ALL THE ANGST about that.  No, seriously.  ALL of the angst.  Every last bit of it. 

 .  . . . in other news, my cat just got a small square tissue box stuck over his head.  Yes, folks, this is my life.

I wrote more fic; it's not the laundry fic that everyone seems to want (WTF, you guys? I love you and your interesting brains). It is, in fact, a half-finished crossover between Avengers - my 'Indefinable Things' 'verse thereof - and the first Resident Evil movie. It's sort of on that crossover vs. fusion line in that mostly I tweak a few things and send Natasha into the Hive instead of Alice, and RE characters are in it only very incidentally. And I'm not happy with chapter 3 and I'm probably gonna edit some dialogue even though I've already posted - already posted chapter 4, even. Because I'm a sloppy author like that, apparently.

. . in fact it was bugging me so much that I just went and did that. It was just a couple lines of dialogue, but a couple lines of dialogue that are JUST WRONG are like . . gah.

(And all the authors/artists/musicians reading are nodding along, and anyone who isn't creative in that way is raising an eyebrow at my drama.)

I'll still try to write the laundry fic. Or maybe there'll be a laundry scene in this fic. Who knows, this 'verse is still munching happily on my brain.

. . . so . . .what else would you want to see, in the 'Proper Care and Feeding of Indefinable Things' 'verse, aka 'that Bruce/Natasha fic series that ate my brain'. I'm looking for slice-of-life type prompts (allowing that some of these characters lead rather improbable lives), not anything that would require excessive plot. And . . I have more or less this whole 'verse completely figured out in my head (except a couple of pairings, but I'm not going to decide on those via prompt) . . I guess I'm just not sure what is of interest to folks? Probably writing about Bruce doing the laundry (because Bruce is so the one who does the laundry) isn't going to interest too many people.

. . . so have I mentioned that Bruce/Natasha has eaten my brain? I'm making icons. There's more fic over at AO3, and more yet in progress.

And, the DVD apparently comes out on September 25th, which is only a little over two months away!   . . . I kinda wonder if that isn't a mistake, it seems SO QUICK, but maybe they want to cash in on the current fevered state of its popularity?  Anyway, I'm not complaining. 

You know that thing, in the film, that everyone in fandom has just sorta flat refused to accept as having actually happened?  There's a short film attached to this movie, on the DVD, and while there's been a synopsis released and all that . . . okay, maybe that's actually the point of it.  Maybe.  But I'm betting  . . . okay, $0.01, because I'm broke . . . that the short film fixes that thing. 

Because would Joss do that?  Why yes, yes he would. 

   . . I want to go into long, drawn-out character analysis, here, but I think most of what I want to say about the characters, I'm saying via fic. 

I have been watching Iron Man II absolutely obsessively, mostly because I'm too broke to go to theaters and watch 'Avengers' quite so obsessively.  Also I draw while watching at home, and that's hard to do in a dark theater.  I still want to see it one more time before it goes out of theaters, though.

You know what I didn't notice before watching obsessively?  Both of the Iron Man movies are pretty conservative-leaning, politically.  Not necessarily in bad ways - totally agreed with them re: private property issues - but it's interesting.  Also, the first on is heavily war-propaganda-ish and I really never noticed that at the time, which tells me disturbing things about the time.  But I suppose positive things about this present time, in that I can now look at that and go, "Woah, so, we liked our morals and our politics applied via two-by-four there, didn't we?"

Other observation on Iron Man II:  being told once, or even multiple times, by an impossible-to-please parent, that you're wonderful and amazing, isn't really that life-changing.  It falls into the category of bullshit that would mean a lot more were it put into action in a timely manner.  I mean, not saying that Tony couldn't have reacted as he did in the immediate, but in the long term?  Please, please do not make Tony all okay with his dad now, Iron Man III.  Because . . . no.  Deathbed confessions are for the dying, funerals are for the living, and it's mostly the stuff that happens way before any of that, that actually counts. 

 . . . . and fandom still needs more Natasha.
