| Venus lost a very tight match yesterday in the first round of the Australian Open. First time in 5 years she has lost in the first round of a Slam. :-(
Hopefully the rest of the year will be better than this. - Mood:disappointed

| Venus started 2006 out with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sania Mirza! Venus did, however, have to take an injury time out when she was down 2-3 in the first set because of a pain in either her back or pelvis (she herself wasn't sure). She thinks that it isn't anything serious and can be fixed there in Hong Kong.
Hopefully Vee is okay and will be ready to face Lindsay Davenport tomorrow in the semis. Best of luck tomorrow, Venus!

| We are off to a fresh start in 2006 and I promise myself I am going to be a lot better about updating on what Venus is up to this year.
And we start right away with the Hong Kong Exhibition this week. She had Serena teamed up for the doubles competition but fell short 8-7(7-2) to Kim Clijsters and Sania Mirza. Venus still plays her first match tomorrow against Sania.
Good luck tomorrow and through all of 2006! :-)
|
| Vee is scheduled to play a few more tournaments this year, and hopefully bring home a few more titles in 2005. :-)
October 10-16 - Kremlin Cup, Moscow - Tier I October 17-23 - Swisscom Challenge, Zurich - Tier I October 24-30 - Advanta Open, Philadelphia - Tier II
After this, she should be playing in the Year-End Championships.
|
| After having had to withdrawn from her Quarterfinal match against Marta Domachowska in Beijing today, Venus has now been advised by her doctors to withdraw from Guangzhou and Filderstadt to allow her knee plenty of time to heal. :-(
Get well soon Vee! | |
|
| Vee finished as the finalist of Stanford this week as Kim Clijsters won the title 7-5, 6-2. After an amazing week at Stanford, Venus came up a bit short in the final as she didn't have enough energy to get her all the way.
But no one can question her desire, after an astounding 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 victory over Patty Schnyder in the Semis, saving 5 match points! to make it to her 6th final at Stanford.
Now please Vee, get some rest!!! lol
Venus is next scheduled to play the Nordic Light Open in Stockholm, which starts August 8th.

| Tomorrow is the big day for the premiere of Vee and Serena's reality show!!

| ``Now it will be a bit easier for us,'' Russia's No. 1 Elena Dementieva said. ``The (Wimbledon) winner and the runner-up in one team -- it was too much.''

| Venus had a tough one today against Fabs, but prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the end to advance to the third round at Roland Garros. She started and finished the match playing really great tennis, moving up the net and finishing the point off in top fashion, but something happened during the rest of the match. She backed off from the approach shots and made quite a lot of unforced errors.
I think this match will only be good for her, because she played against an opponent who threw everything at her and came out on top. She still has some things to work on, I'm not sure what's going on with her serve lately, so hopefully she'll get them worked out before the Quarters.
Best of luck Vee, and keep the fighting spirit up!
