Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Hello! Let's talk V. [03 Jun 2013|09:51pm]

noboundariesipm
Hello! I am very happy to be in this community. One of my biggest passions is women's rights and feminism.

I have a podcast where I talk about stuff like victim blaming, slut shaming, VAW, etc.

Tonight, to be blunt, I am talking vaginas (and more)! That's right I'm discussing everything that has to do with a biological woman "down there".

It's interactive, so I hope people will join the chat (as a side note the number of people in the chat room does not reflect the number of people listening). To join just click the chat tab, try to type and then it will prompt you to create a user name (really simply)

Tonight at 10:30pm EST on ipmNation.com/noboundaries

And please friend me if you like!

Looking for woman essayists [X-posted to several communities] [26 Jan 2010|12:40pm]

amethyst_heart
The public radio station where I work, WEKU-FM in Richmond, KY, is looking for women to write essays on their driving core principles for a Women’s History Month special series “This We Believe.” We will publish all submissions on our website and select some of them to put on the air. Essay submission deadline is February 5.

Here’s the press release we’ve been sending out in case you’d like to pass this along to anyone else:

WEKU SEEKS ESSAYISTS FOR "THIS WE BELIEVE" WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH SPECIAL SERIES
Public radio station continues a series featuring the driving principles of listeners

(Richmond, KY) WEKU Radio celebrates Women’s History Month in March with a Kentucky-made series, "This We Believe."

”This We Believe,” which is in its second year, is inspired by "This I Believe," a series created by radio news pioneer Edward R. Murrow and resurrected for public radio by Jay Allison. The series features statements of personal belief from a wide range of individuals. People from all walks of life are encouraged to share their convictions, often with profound and powerful results.

WEKU is again collecting essays from women for a special compilation program. All women are invited to submit a 350-500 word essay to WEKU describing their philosophies. All participating essayists will be published on WEKU's website and some essays will be selected for broadcasting during regular programs and for inclusion in a WEKU special. The submission deadline is February 5th, 2010.

If you’d like to know more, you can check out our website – www.weku.fm/tib2010.html – there’s an email link on the page if you have any questions. :)
Thanks,
Nik <3

Hey all!
Felt like writing some!
I had my son in May and I love it! I was just curious - anyone have any pointers on teething? I'm not big on giving him tylenol, but do have pellets for him. Not too sure if they're working for him, though.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Time to meet the new girl [12 Oct 2008|10:26pm]

lacatface
Hey hey, girls! I'm Cat. I really suck at discussing myself, but hey, I'll give it a shot.
I was a really loud, open, social person for most of my life but thanks to emotional trauma and moving to a sleepy, quiet, tiny town where I rarely want to leave my house, I've become sort of shy, but by no means mellow and calm. I've always been a big city girl with my head in the clouds. I spend most of my time on my laptop laying in bed or sitting in a nice comfy chair IMing my boyfriend and researching. I love learning about sex, sexual health, dynamics within sexual relationships, etc. etc. I'm really quiet and reserved when it comes to sharing my interest in the subject, I've shared it with few people, just my mother and my man. Mostly for fear of what people will think of me, given the preconceived notions society has instilled in most of us. I'm always listening to music, I can't stand silence, I've always got something playing. Right now MC Chris, Lil Wayne, Elvis and Say Anything are in heavy rotation. I'm usually the girl people come to for advice, which I find to be rather amusing, given how fucked up I am, lol. I love to crochet, lately I've been churning out hats like mad. Since moving to this itty bitty town, I've lost contact with many of my friends, and I haven't made any friends in the area, so I've really been looking to make some friends. Talking to my sister, mother and boyfriend each day gets old, I need new views, fresh faces! Anyways, there's a little bit about me. I'm ALWAYS on AIM, my screen name is pour some tea yo, and if you try to IM me, you'll see that I have an away message up, feel free to send away, that away message is always up.

Hello ladies.. ^____^

My name's Jenny.. I'm 20 and I have a lot to say about a lot of things.. Hahaha..

I enjoy playing video games, going to shows, and reading...

I've always looked up to strong, self-respecting women who did not need to compromise who they are to get to where they wanted to go.. Women such as Anne McCaffrey, Alice Walker, Lea Salonga, Imelda Marcos, Christina Rossetti, and more...

But yeah, nice to meet you all...

Something I found [25 Sep 2007|10:02pm]

crazybouncycrls
In my honors house for my honors class we have tons of "inspirational" posters and such.... this is one that is next to my seat so I see it everyday... Comments are welcome on this, wanna know what people think.

' Because a woman's work is never done and is underpaid or even unpaid or boring or repetitious and we're the first to get fired and what we look like is more important than what we do and if we get raped its our fault and if we get beaten we must have provoked it and if we raise our voices we are nagging bitches and if we enjoy sex we are nymphos and if we dont we are frigid, and if we love another woman its because we cant get a "real" man and if we ask the doctor too many questions we are neurotic and pushy and if we expect childcare then we are selfish and bad mothers and if we stand up for our rights we are aggressive and "unfemminine" and if we dont we are typical weak femals and if we want to get married we are out to trap a man and if we dont we are unnatural and because we still cannot get a safe effective birth control but men can walk on the moon and if we dont want a pregnancy we are made to feel guilty about abortion and.....for lots and lots of other reasons women should support the womens liberation movement. '

any comments on this?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and I was asked to start brainstorming up some ideas to raise awareness on our college campus. I was hoping to hear some different ideas from any one and maybe find a unique combination as well. Thanks!

hello everyone, i'm anna.  i was browsing communities and i came across this one, and oddly enough, it's kind of exactly what i'm looking for. i have had journals in the past, but i just recently started this one as kind of a 'break-journal' in which i can expose my thoughts without censoring myself but still be out in the 'public' with the allowance of being selective.

i'm 22 years old and i live in canada and i love my vagina and my vulva and my clit.
oh, the things they can do!
i also love books, music [listening not creating], photography, and writing.  oh, and feta cheese is pretty good too.

i love love love sexuality and all things having to do with it.  i'm a very open person and will talk about most anything with anyone, providing they aren't sketchy, y'know how it goes.

i have absolutely zero friends or communities [aside from this one] so if you would like to add me as a friend i would be more than happy to add you back.  a lot of my entries will be friends only, because again, the privacy thing.

i look forward to being in this community!

Hi, everyone. My name’s Andy and I’m a girl, despite the moniker.

I’m a 19 year old intellectual geek chick, studying anthropology at a fantastic school. I have a wonderful mother and stepfather, and I need two hands to count all the people that I would call real friends. I love myself, my default state is happy, and I have an amazing, wonderful, blessed life.

The reason I’m here is because I’ve been rolling this particular essay around in my head for a while, and with Valentines Day drawing nearer, I’ve been looking for a place to get some outside opinions on love. I’m hoping to find some people to discuss the philosophy of love with, some advice on dealing with my emotional hang-ups about the concept, and maybe even an affirmative, “Yeah, I’ve felt that way too.” Sometimes a girl just needs an outside source to air her mind to.

( Cut from a much longer post that I put up in my journal. I tried to shorten it up as much as I could while still getting the full extent of my feelings across.Collapse )

What web sites would you recommend to girls who dislike their periods to help them accept they are not necessarily negative things? Particularly girls that have fallen victim to social taboos and menstrual product advertising – i.e. periods are gross, dirty, smelly, etc.

I'm looking for web sites that discuss menstrual taboos, body-issues, vaginal embarrassment, to address the issues head on. Web sites that discuss different menstrual options both in feminine hygiene products and lifestyle/diet changes or herbal treatments to prevent menstrual problems that may make girls dislike their periods. Web sites where women take pride in their periods would also be helpful.

Announcing -----

A Call for Submissions for a Special Issue of Kalliope

Throughout the course of history, women have worked and fought on the
front lines of war, whether it be the war to end slavery, the war to
end all wars, the war against discrimination and injustice, the war
on drugs, the war against the exploitation of children, all wars in
which the United States has deployed its military. In remembrance
and celebration of the countless wars in which women have dedicated
themselves, the Fall 2007 edition of Kalliope will be a special themed issue:

Women and War

We invite submissions of poetry and short fiction for this special
issue that relate to the theme of women involved in or responding to
war in its broadest or most specific context. We are pleased to
announce that for this issue we will consider all submissions,
regardless of the gender of the writer, provided the submission is
grounded in the theme of women and war. All submissions should
comply with Kalliope's general submission guidelines and should be
sent by April 1, 2007 to:

Hey there...

My name's Brittany and I'm 17. I'm bisexual, but I lean more toward the ladies most of the time. I'm a christian, but I question some things...and I'm not closeminded at all...I accept all kinds of beliefs and religions, I will not criticize you and I will not try to force God on you. I believe it's your life and your choice, live it how you want to. No one should been shoved into a box and forced to believe something they don't.

I'm very passionate about woman's rights, animal rights, and I don't tolerate racism from anyone.

I love music, besides my friends and family, it's my life. I'm into hardcore (Madball, Blood for Blood, Agnostic Front, Bury Your Dead, Donnybrook, CDC, Dead to Fall, Full Blown Chaos, ect.), punk (Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, No Cash, Cramps, DKM, Nipple Erectors, Angelic Upstarts, Blatz, Lower Class Brats, Oi Scouts, GBH, Clit 45, ect.), ska (Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Big D and the Kids Table, Hepcat, Skankin' Pickle, Planet Smashers, Mustard Plug, ect.), and some old school rap (old Snoop Dogg, Naughty By Nature, Tupac, Biggie, Wu-tang Clan, Fresh Prince, ect.). That's just a few of the bands...I'm always down to hear about some new ones, so if anyone's got some in mind holla at me.

I'm VERY into the riot grrrl movement and I love L7, Bratmobile, Sleater-kinney, Bikini Kill, 7 Year Bitch...stuff like that.

Art has it's own little spot in my heart. I'm an artistic creature and I love all kinds of art.
