Thought you’d love this as much as I do…There’s a contest going on to design a tour poster for Ledisi, and the winner will be chosen by her. I love the entry with the black and white background and the lyrics as a backdrop.

Blue Scholars are celebrating the release of their amazing new album Bayani and are joined by Common Market and Gabriel Teodros for two shows in one evening! 6PM for some all-ages action, and 9PM for those of you over the age of 21!
Come listen to some great music and hang out with me!! You will be able to purchase a copy of Bayani a month before it will be released in stores (on June 12th)! Trust me, it's worth it. I've been listening to it nonstop since I got it on Friday, and I mean NONSTOP. Come through!
( flyerCollapse )
If you've never heard of their music before, you can hear a sampling on their respective myspace pages:

Lots of pics from the recent Public Enemy show in NYC --- it was a packed house, show was almost 2 hours long. Definitely one of the best Hip-Hop shows you can ever see live --- the combination of Chuck D & Flavor Flav is increadible... Flav even brought his 1 year old grandson out on stage! ---lots of great pics at the link below

So I've been a big backer of MC Radiation for a while. So when I saw this new video, I thought it would be good. And then I get to watching it, and I am thinking "WTF? When is this going to kick in?"
And then, I realized, it wasn't going to. Then I realized it didn't have to.
I actually consider this to be jaw dropping and a big leap forward for MC Radiation, and for our underground, NW hip-hop.

This is the video for MC Radiation's music video "Argyle Socks". As you can probably tell, it was shot in and around some local Portland landmarks.

This is a great perspective on the Middle east conflict... this guy know what he's talking about much better than any news anchor or politician... very good read -- told in a language we can all understand instead of some political mumbo jumbo

Beat Back Bush - Seattle screening with performances by:
Romanteek
Beyond Reality
Seattle What (bgirl crew)
DJ BGirl
$7($6 w/ club card)
At Ethnic Cultural Theater just west of the UW campus at 3940 Brooklyn Ave.
http://depts.washington.edu/ecc/
Beat Back Bush! The title of the film says it all, but in case you’re expecting a weed-whacking documentary from Down Under, maybe we should clear something up. The film premiering on Saturday is about the dire state our current administration has put us in, all set to hip-hop workout music! Make sure to show up on time to ease into the trenchant political workout with DJ BGirl’s wicked spins and Seattle What, a local bgirl crew. Also playing are Beyond Reality and Romanteek, whose funky hip-hop is guaranteed to get everyone movin’ and groovin’. There will be a brief discussion of the film afterwards, which addresses issues such as gay marriage, globalization, the war in Iraq, and of course, our man Bush. Flex your minds and your muscles! This is not an evening you will want to miss.

The Capitol Hill Block Party
Friday & Saturday July 28th-29th
The Vera stage is back at this years infamous Capitol Hill Block Party, and its as rocking as ever! The local scene has never been represented better at the Vera stage, with Ladyhawk being the most foreign band, traveling all the way from Vancouver B.C. to rock audiences of all ages. Tall Birds kick off the Friday show with servings of stripped-down rock that only ex-members of the Catheters could muster alongside Abyssinian Creoles unique mix of subterranean beats and flow like the Mississippi River, creating a fresh blend of home brewed hip-hop that should be enticing enough to bring everyone out into the heat. The first day is jam-packed with amazing Seattle music, from the infectious, almost too-danceable punk emanating from the sweaty dudes in the Pharmacy to the powerful, catchy rock and roll of Visqueen.
The second day rolls around with a handful of great acts, starting off with the awesome Der Trasch, whose experimental punk/hip-hop just bleeds sass. The good kind of sass too, like a Debbie Harry sass. Maybe even an Easy-E kind of sass. Either way, its good. Later in the day comes the dual threat of Speaker Speakers post-punk sensibilities and the contagious party hip-hop of the Saturday Knights. Prepare to get your groove on!
