I’m doing some research into music social networking and online marketing sites. Like Myspace and Pure Volume and such. Places where artists can post music, info, tour dates, and fans can talk with artists and such. So I’m wondering if you guys know any good ones that might not come up on your typical Google search.

Also, any social networking sites that aren’t music related will be useful too. Thanks!

my Iron Maiden adventure....... [12 Aug 2006|08:34pm]

Iron Maiden tickets went onsale this morning at 10:00am. There was no way I was going to be able to be there that early since I worked late the night before (2:30am) and had to be back this morning by 11:30am. I figured I could make it to ticketmaster a little before 11:00 and still make it to work on time....but that long ass line of Maiden fans had to go and screw up my plans!

After being open for almost an hour there was still at least 30 people in line waiting. Not the longest line but murder for someone in a hurry like me. I left, defeated, and went to work. 6:30pm comes, I'm off work and race back to get my tickets. Sadly, I arrive during the ONE hour of the day that the ticketmaster booth is closed. Angered, I head home and try ticketmaster.com myself, no longer caring about the extra fees. Of course now the only seats available are near the damn lawn. I've been stuck up there before at this same venue and was NOT about to go back for another helping of shit seats.

Out of anger/desperation I resorted to using an online ticket broker run by scalpers and pirates who charge more than Maiden themselves will probably get paid for playing that night.
The price doesn't bother me all that much (who needs a new cell phone anyways?), its the BATTLE I had to wage for my seats that did it.

Give me tattoo ideas. I know you guys can think of good ones.

Thanks.

There are two types of people in this world -- those who like Journey, and those who won't admit that they like Journey.

I'm assuming the punk band Patient 957 no longer exists as there is no longer a website with their lyrics on it. They had one album, "Drugs and Asian Girls," not original in  anysense of the matter or even perfect the style, but goddamn it was awsome. I doubt anyone even knows about them, let alone has their lyrics handy, but heres my half assed attempt to possibly come across someone who has them. Its very difficult to understand the vocalist even with lyrics at times, his voice raspy to the point where he rivals Lemmy and even growls at times. They're probably the band that made me go from punk and NWOBHM to death metal, just because the occasional growls. Unlike most punk bands (that don't fall under the pop genre too) they had coherent song structures.

Good wholesome family orient lyrics such as:

"She masturbates to old reruns
Of 21 jump street
We went to the mall
To get her thong
So her and her boyfriend
Could get along
What else can I say?
Then she went back to school
So far away, so far away

[Incoherence]

Was I just a top notch tourist
In your bed?"

"First time we chill
Watching Scooby-Doo
I fucked my pillow and I thought of you"

"Why did I have to fart during sex?"

"I guess I woke up on the wrong side of the curb
Nothing to do in this fucking suburb"

All right, so this is probably really late and completely already talked about, but I got Ihsahn's solo album "Adversary" the other day, and I havne't stopped listening to it. It's incredible. Mind you, I was one of those people who fucking loved "Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise," and defended it to the death against criticism. I'm also a Peccatum fan. This was the best of both worlds. It was "Amor Fati" era Peccatum with Prometheus Emperor, and Ihsahn is incredible. Just curious as to your thoughts on the album and its artist.

Whoever posted about the song in this ytmnd http://demonexterminator.ytmnd.com/ , I found out it's by this EBM/Industrial/Metal band Vigilante.  The song is titled "Answers" and you can download it here.

You can download other tracks of theirs here, as well.

Why humanity must be destroyed. [16 May 2006|10:08am]

I post a link to this because pity parties like this are just pathetic. You know, if you're rich or have few worries monetarily, and are sad, try getting rid of your money and see how 70% of the planet's population lives. There are people with good dispositions who can't afford a bowl of rice, much less the catalog of The Cure.

So, what do you think about suicide? Should more people actually get it right the first time? Is "I have a chemical imbalance!" a realistic reason when you've got piles of money and top notch psychiatric healthcare? Would the world be better if a flood came and just washed all these people away?

I know most of you are probably sick of hearing about the new Tool album, however...

-The final track has always been an ambient oddity since AEnima; on this paticular album the message is much more hidden. AEnima is was a few of Bill Hicks's skits, Lateralus had the voice hidden beneath the noise, but was still audible, now on Viginti Tres (23) you can't even find the message without an audio editing program. Even so the voice is incredibly filtered so its hard to make out even after "fixing" it.

What is said appears to be "Destroy the System"

Edit: Also, its the week before finals so Mp3's are on hold. Unless someone as music of their own that they wish to impose upon others.

Mp2 of the Day

Country: England
Style: Blues Rock/Power Trio
Artist: Firebird
Album: Firebird

Meantime

Wonder what Bill Steer has been up to these days and why Carcass developed a classic rock groove towards the end? Firebird holds all the answers. Very similar to the blues based music coming out of Britain in the 60's and 70's, its a timewarp. Bill Steer became tired of playing metal, and Firebird is his way of playing music that he really wants to be playing, being in two of the most influential bands in metal playing a style thats tried and true is more than forgivable for a few reasons: Its awsome, its what he wants to play, it sounds nothing like his previous bands and pure blues rock is sick! While he's playing music thats relatively old it show's that its timeless within this generation of music where just about everything is blues based.

Awaiting Charlie Patton
