Join the LiveJournal Revival! Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community. When you don't have a sledgehammer, a 20lb dumbbell makes a damn good substitute. In your face, axle rust. Current Mood: creative | | Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 | 1:56 pm [project_mayhem_]

Triumph releases the 2009 Bonneville- http://www.themotorreport.com.au/6002/2009-triumph-bonneville-range-updated/comment-page-1/ Triumph has freshened up its Bonneville range for the 2009 model year just in time for the 50th anniversary of the iconic model. The original Bonneville was launched to critical acclaim for the 1959 model year and has been regarded by many as the definitive Triumph model ever since.
Taking their inspiration from the 1970s, the Bonneville has received what Triumph refer to as “a significant update” for the coming year that includes a new variant - the Bonneville SE. Both models feature authentic 1970s styling, plus a host of chassis changes aimed at making the bikes easier to ride than before and giving them an even wider appeal.
Visually, the most striking difference comes with the new 17-inch cast alloy wheels at the front and rear, shorter mudguards and stylish megaphone silencers from the sporty Thruxton. The new seat proudly displays the Triumph logo, which is now printed in white.I'm surprised they didn't mention that the new ones will also be equipped with EFI. Am I the only one who thinks the wheels look like they came off a Harley Sportster? Current Mood: excited | | Saturday, January 24th, 2009 | 2:30 pm [project_mayhem_]

I don't think anyone has posted on the new release yet, so I'm gonna- because I fracking LOVE this bike. New for 2009- Street Triple R gets tested at the Isle of Man TT course.I remember how much fun the regular Street Triple was- if this one's better, I can't wait for the Triumph Demo Days next spring. If riding this bike doesn't put an ear-to-ear grin on your face, it's because the key is still in the "off" position. Could this be the revival of the naked bike that looks decent? Sorry, but I'm not a fan of the bikini fairings or polygon-shaped headlights the newer "naked" bikes have, and the SV650 just doesn't have enough punch for me. Shame about the $9K price tag, though. | | Friday, May 23rd, 2008 | 7:53 am [hobbfather]

Sportbikeparts.com SUCKS!
Never buy from e-bay seller sportbikeparts.com! After two weeks they won't reply to e-mail, but they cancelled my request for money (refund on useless charging rotor), so I know they're there. So, That's my flame. I was going to leave Negative feedback, but I haven't figured out how to fit it in one line... | | Monday, April 7th, 2008 | 12:03 am [project_mayhem_]

Recent conversation with scarybaldguy and normalcyispasse reminded me of one of the most awesome products for help in maintaining your bike- the Colortune. Actually, it was scarybaldguy who told me about these in the first place. Pretty much, it's like a sparkplug with a clear ring around the base. The color of the flame tells you whether you're running rich, lean, or intermittently. It may seem a little pricey, but it takes so much of the guesswork out of "what's wrong with my engine?" Fun with reflective tape. I should probably find something to add to the sides to help break up the black/black/black/dark red riding ensemble. Gotta do something while I'm waiting for the snow to melt :P Current Mood: working | | Monday, December 3rd, 2007 | 2:10 am [project_mayhem_]

At the Tokyo Motorshow, Yamaha unveils the new XS-V1 Sakura http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/19/yamaha-xs-v1-sakura-concept-to-be-shown-in-tokyo/Skip the paint job that looks like- OK, SRSLY- what were they smoking? It looks like a cosmetics ad for robots. Beyond that- is anyone else thinking "V-twin Bonneville" for the style? Personally, I'm glad to see the retro look coming back- I'm not a fan of the sharp, angular shapes and pseudo-sports fairings all the newer bikes have. It might make a sweet cafe racer- but as a liter Vee, probably not too light. ETA: They've got some pretty cool original vintage bikes listed on the right of the page, too. Backwards controls be damned, I LOVE old Brit bikes. Current Mood: intrigued | | Monday, November 12th, 2007 | 2:52 pm [myboysherman]

My Cafe Rat project
I just thought I would show you all my far from finished but ridable bike. I hope you can see the foil tape covering the large hole in my muffler. I have to find a side cover to match this one for the other side, then paint. The tail is from a 40's car of unknown origin. This B-L-C headlamp is my favorite part, its from an early 30's Ford. | | Saturday, October 27th, 2007 | 4:04 pm [project_mayhem_]

So for everyone north of the Mason-Dixon line, what are your plans this winter? I need to get over to satanicmechanic's house and help him clean the garage- we've got a lot of work to do. Mine: 1997 ZX-6E- needs radiator flush, fork seals replaced, entire transmission rebuild (2nd gear is shot, shift forks are almost certainly bent, makes a noise like a crowbar in a garbage disposal when shifting up from first), new sparkplugs. His: 1980 Maxim 650: Needs routine maintenance, leaking fluids from several different places. 1974 Honda CB750- needs paint, carb jets installed, total reassembly (stripped down to not much more than the frame, motor, and forks at this point). I REALLY want to make this one into a cafe racer. 1982 Honda CX500- needs temperature sensor, minor reassembly, we're gonna try and make a bracket to hang the saddlebags. My neighbor's: 1974 Shovelhead Police Special: Has not run since the Reagan administration. License plate sticker expired in '82. Needs....Uh, shit- where do we start? The bike is in good shape, but it's all the rubber bits I'm worried about- and the oil being the consistency of molasses. Looks like this one, but without all the custom bits. (Hey Jim, you thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?) Current Mood: working | | Friday, October 26th, 2007 | 4:23 pm [xploitedgirl]

My turn Hey all. My name is Heather. My bike is nothing special (except it's MINE) so I'm going to post pics of my husband's bike. He did all the work with the occasional help of another mechanic.
He started with a stock 1986 Suzuki Madura (gv1200) like this one:
