An empty threat.... to myself
05:25pm 09/07/2007
I may just decide to stop posting in this journal altogether. It's not altogether important to me anymore. I have another journal for the specific purpose of chronicling my writing process, but it is really for myself to remind me that I CAN make progress... I just need to see that I've made progress.

So.... yeah, this journal gets 1 post a month anymore. That'll be the most outta me for a while.

Any bit of reading is good reading

In a few more days I will be no longer officially employed at GameStop... so I have to go to Barnes & Noble and get as many books as I can under the discount I have there from working at GameStop. I bought a lot of fantasy recently, too. Can't wait to get started.

What have I DONE to myself?
05:32pm 14/06/2007
So I started reading a book that is over 1500 pages long.... in small print.... in hardback..... and that isn't including the sources and endnotes... which are an extra 1000... contained on a CD-ROM. "Why," you ask? Because I love punishment I guess. The book is Reclaiming History by Vincent Bugliosi. The introduction alone (about 40 pages) takes away some of my initially held beliefs that LBJ had JFK killed. He certainly destroys lots of other conspiracy theories in the introduction alone, and there is about 60 pages of debunking in part two of the book... so I look forward to being proven wrong, if the case is convincing enough.

Sometime it's just hard to believe that a king can be taken down by a peasant.

Class tonight
05:48pm 26/04/2007
  Skipping dat.

Anyway, I now finally have The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring: The Complete Recordings by Howard Shore. Good GOD! Finally being able to hear all of the themes and leitmotifs in their fullest has brought me to the realization that Howard Shore is the greatest modern film composer. Not ONE other person could have written the music for those films so well but him. I'm picking up The Two Towers tonight. It's actually $16 more expensive than the Fellowship set, but I believe that it is still well worth it. Anybody who wants to work in film scoring would do well to STUDY these scores.

It may be $76 for The Two Towers but it will be worth every damned penny.

Jos' Keeeding folks!

Anyway, I have been given the letter "R" by Lauren, and now I have to come up with my favourite songs that start with the letter "R." She came up with twelve... so I will come up with fifteen.

2. Rock N' Roll - Led Zeppelin (untitled)
3. Rime Of The Ancient Marriner - Iron Maiden (Powerslave)
4. Ram It Down - Judas Priest (Ram It Down)
5. Room A Thousand years Wide - Soundgarden (Badmotorfinger)
6. Real World - Blue Öyster Cult (Heaven Forbid)
7. Revolution DeathSquad - DragonForce (Inhuman Rampage... I think)
8. Rats In The Cellar - Aerosmith (Rocks)
9. Roadhouse Blues - The Doors (I don't know)
10. Rainmaker - Iron Maiden (Dance Of Death)
11. Rocka Rolla - Judas Priest (Rocka Rolla)
12. Rock It (Prime Jive) - Queen (The Game) (Good ol Rock'n'roll-style song with a Roger Taylor lead vocal after a Freddie Intro. Love it)
13. Rockaway Beach - Ramones (Leave Home)
14. Roxanne - The Police (Outlandos D'amour)
15. Ramble On - Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin II)

Post here and I will give you a letter.

Those days when depression creeps through
09:24pm 31/03/2007
I need to occupy myself better else I take naps all day, become highly depressed, and start punching walls... which is stupid because I DO have a punching bag.

Doo doo de doo waaaa doo de doo! (<-- That's you playing something.) Everyone appreciates the band/orchestra geeks and the pretty voices. Whether you sing in the choir, participate in a school/local band, or sit at home writing music, you contribute a joy to society that everyone can agree on. Yay! Welcome to actually doing something for poor, pathetic human souls. (Just kidding.)

Alternate History
01:58pm 29/03/2007

SM Stirling's Dies The Fire is pretty cool so far.... some of the peripheral characters don't act like normal people act, but that really doesn't matter to me. It's fun stuff.

No real point
11:28pm 19/03/2007
  I'm going to Harrisburg tomorrow.

So, I'm kinda REALLY pissed at myself because I just checked my email and found that Mercedes wanted me to call her two weeks ago... and I didn't even know it because I never check my email (so I never really know when people comment on my comments and such). So yeah, I should call her after this week of school and see when a good time in the near future to hang out is, cuz I miss her.

I'm seriously freaking upset that Richard Jeni killed himself. Didn't even hear about it until tonight.

I BROKE OUT MY MANDOLIN YESTERDAY!
Okay, so I really forgot how much fun it was to play that friggin thing. I love it. Try playing things like The Number Of The Beast on a mandolin (it's really just three chords for everything but the solo section anyway, so it doesn't sound rediculous unless you try to immitate Bruce Dickinson's voice).

"Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe fuck yourself"
03:43pm 22/02/2007

Maybe it's the fucked up weather for the past few days, but I have been quite melancholy for a while... not DEPRESSED like what happens when I forget my meds... simply dissatisfied and bored out of my fucking mind. I know I'm not depressed because at least with this I can snap myself out of it when I think about it. I've also got a good headache goin'.

Oh, I really really want Mark Wahlberg to win Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Departed.
