hi all
i am in desperate need of some sort of spark notes-esque guide or chapter summaries of the terror that is ahab's wife by Sena jeter Naslund. It's a bit like a spin off of moby dick, based on the life of his ahab's wife. i really dont mean to sound like a girl who doesn't want to do the assignment. i have so many other books to read and this book is really long and would only keep me from reading the rest of the books on the list. can anyone help me? or can anyone lend me a summary they might have written? i won't use the summary i just need something to read that is shorter, in place of the book. thank you verrryyyyy much.

hi everybody, I just joined and I think this community is a great idea!
I have to read Madame Bovary and I'm on page 146 and I still hate the book. Has anyone read it? If so, do you have any tips for making the book more enjoyable? It's so hard to get through it, and it's ruining the precious little free time I have this summer. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I'm reading "The Living" by Annie Dillard for our summer reading assignment. I usually love most of the books we read, but I just can't STAND this one.

uhh lol yeah i have some ALGEBRA 2 homework and its hard and i dont understand it...so if someone could be so kind to help me out...
ill give ya a couple of the problems and if you could tell me the answer and how you did it and then ill do one and give you the answer and you tell me if i did it rite does that sound good? okie dokie...

(the numbers after x are exponents...x3...3 is exponent 3x2...2 is exponent)

I wanted to know if anyone has read the book Brave New World and new the differences between it and the movie Brave New World. I have read the book and I need to write an essay on the differences between the book and the movie, but I cannot find the movie anywhere!! Recently I was given a essay assignment from my teacher that I don't understand what so ever.I read it over a bunch of times and I still don't get it.Can someone explain the essay assigment in plain english to me?
In his own words he says the essay assignment is:Using your knowledge and experience of the past and present of American society and having actively read the text, write an illustration essay arguing your major premise, defended by 3 minor prepositions on either ONE of these three approaches:(1)education,(2)justice,and (3) liberty.

Anyone want to look over my religion paper? It answers the questions, "Why do we have religion" and "Why is it still here?". Its really short (500wrds) and its just an opinion paper, so all that needs checked is the grammar and content. You don't have to agree with my opinions...just make sure they look nice :-)

I apologize in advance for the only tangentially-related post, but I just wanted to tell you guys about a new community I am starting with my other LJ account; it's called add_students and it's for students of all ages with ADD, ADHD, or even other learning disabilities, a place where we can discuss issues specifically related to school, classes, accomadations, the ADA, etc. While it's still getting started now, hopefully soon it will provide resources, information, and support for students with AD/HD/LD. Reconstitution is when the State order the act of firing all of a school's teacher because the school is performing below mandated standards. Consider a State-wide math assessment made up of 10 questions. Each question is equally difficult and an average school will have a 65% success rate on each question, whereas an accomplished school will have a 70% success rate on each question, and a struggling school will have a 60% success rate on each question.
The State reports results based on the percentage of students at each high school who get at least six questions correct. After the 2002 Test, the community of Eastborough is notified that 89% of Eastborough High School students answered at least six questions correct. The community of Westborough is notified that 60% of Westborough High School students answered at least six questions correct.
The State sends Eastborough H.S. a letter of commendation. The State sends Westborough H.S. a notice that it is now a candidate for reconstitution.
Mathematically speaking, are the State's actions fair?

Hi, I just joined this group. My name is Nicole, I'm 14, and I live in Idaho. I'm a pretty good student. I score well on standardized tests, and I'm in advanced math. Next year, my classes are:
Reading/Speech
Algebra II
Bel Canto Choir (audition choir-hard to get into :))
World Geography
Earth Science
Spanish II
English (Hopefully English Publications, which is a little more hands on, less book work)
Geometry
Oh, I'm in 8th grade right now. 9th next year.
The main reason I joined is because my grades are dropping. Gotta go. More later.
