Anybody else getting headaches?
I'm not sure what, but something about this game's visuals give me a headache. I don't know if it's the FOV, the pixelation, something about the movement, etc. But man, it sets in quick. I finished two levels and already had to take a break from it. As soon as I alt+tabbed it was pretty instant relief.

Anybody else having an issue with it? Maybe an idea of how to fix it?

Really am enjoying the game so far, hopefully there's something that can help so I can play it more.

Hi^^ I have the same problem.

I think it has something to do with the annoying headbobbing when you move.

We told the devs about this problem in the GoG forums and they promised they will adress this in a patch (we should be able to switch it off) but nothing happened so far.

Have fun^^

Hi

This Headbob feature has been decreased significantly - if it still bothers you, I will make sure to add an option to disable it competely. Sorry for your inconvenience

Best Regards,
Jakub

Thanks for your nice reply^^

Yes, I definetely get motion sickness from this feature^^ If it could be switched off it would be much appreciated.

Btw. you have a great game here, immensely fun and reall well made.^^

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.^^

Sincerely, Markus
To the devs, I'm a new player with the headbob fix and I'm still getting headaches. It's the art style. You're using retro pixels + sharpen shader effects and that hurts the eyes. Doom uses retro sprites but the pallet is much smoother e.g. the blend from one pixel to antoher has a smaller step in contrast to your assets. You'll want to remove sharpen all together or smoothen the assets out or both.

you can customize the options any way you want. I would recommend disabling the post effects and setting the color "sharpness" filter to less than 0 :)

Poor attempt at PR. If you read my post you'll see I removed sharpening all together. The textures themselves are very blitted (black). Setting it to less than 0 makes the game blurry.

Your art needs to be revisted to remove headaches. Either scale up to bigger sprites (like doom) or use less contrasting colors (smoother pallete)
Yes reading your post gave me a headache :)

Go outside and stop playing 24/7 you addict.

Hi

every texture and sprite is using C64 colors as color palette - it's an artistic design choice. I am very sorry to hear that you are having health problems due to our design choice.

Our nearest hotfix is going to remove headbob temporarily until we implement proper headbob toggle option. I hope that it will help you in some way.

I know that it won't be the most concrete explanation... But I can tell that even if you don't have epilepsy or something like that, there can be some combinations of color/shape/sound which will make you nauseate or having some other unpleasant effects. Years ago I had problem with playing first levels in new episode of Jazz Jackrabbit 2: Secret Files. I was much younger than now I'm, but I remember that I felt sometimes a bit "nauseate" with those blurred collors in level background and music. By some reason, I don't have it anymore.

Yeah, it's not cool, since it's usually some "personal" issue with organism, which can't be helped too much. Of course don't know for 100% if this is the case, but maybe?
people who have a headache from this game should consult an ocultist or a neurologist, this could be a sign of serious illness.

That is some top notch garbage medical advice.
wait till its urgent
Make sure you switch on the cross-hair, it'll decrease you chances of motionsickness/headache.

The game seriously need a FOV slider in the options though.

Hi,

As I said before, we've recently released a 1.0.0.2.8 hotfix that removes the head bob. This is a temporary solution – we’ll look at your feedback and release a tweaked version in one of the future updates.

Best Regards
Jakub
I myself initially had this issue on my first play through and gave up on it, I just came back to this game after a year of not playing it and tried every thing suggested, another thing that has greatly helped my is to lock the frame-rate in the graphics settings as well as to have the character walk instead of run, hope this helps you guys as well.
