I'm having the same problem...did you ever figure it out?

I just installed the game and a few times it "black-screened" or all the interactions were blocked. But it can be fixed by restarting the game.

But after the scene of fleeing to the Root Forest from the Mechtheatre black screen just don't go away.

I'm unable to go any further.

After downloading the save it works. Looks like it is a workaround.

Upd: I was able to start the game from the downloaded save but couldn't go any further. I have the same problem as the topic starter.

They provided the saves.

Also, answering my own question when I was unable to go any further in the game: I only could solve it by running the game on Linux (Ubuntu, to be precise).
I ran it using Proton settings (google Proton Steam).
Also, I was able to use saves from my Windows installation.

I have been unable to progress.
I tried to ask the developers for the "save game" file but it's been a month and no reply.

Very late answer, but after trying all sorts of things to fix the black screen bug, I tried to open the game on a different pc, where I finally was able to proceed after the cut scene! I then copied the new savefile manually over to the pc I was formerly playing on and was able to proceed with the game. Maybe this helps somebody :)

Ich habe das genau gleiche Problem wie ihr. Ich habe bisher schon mehr Zeit damit verschwendet, nach einer Lösung zu suchen, anstatt zu spielen. Ich gebe nun auf, da as Entwicklungs-Team leider auch keine Hilfe ist. Steam lehnt eine Rückerstattung wegen der 2 Stunden Spielzeit ab. Ich habe nicht mal die Hälfte des Spiels gesoielt! WIESO sollte ich den vollen Preis bezahlen müssen???

Ich berufe ich mich auf meine Gewährleistungsrechte gemäß § 437 BGB, da das Spiel einen erheblichen Mangel aufweist. Falls keine Lösung angeboten wird (Reperatur oder Rückerstattung), behalte ich mir vor, rechtliche Schritte zu prüfen.

Hat jemand ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht oder Lösungen gefunden?

Thanks for this solution, which it works. However, in chapter 2, after release Robert in the forest, again everything stuck.
It's a pity no official fix for all this problems. The game is amazing but it's impossible to play with a modern pc with these conditions.

Had the Same problem. I downloaded the Save File, saved it in the correct folger and it worked again!

is there absolutely no way to fix the crash? I really enjoyed playing the game and would like to continue.
