Is there a way to set a brown dwarf's temperature manually?
I have been trying to simulate some real life brown dwarves, including their mass, radius, temperature and everything, and I've noticed that the game is way too concrete in the way it simulates their temperature. Honestly I think this is kind of a problem. I mean it doesn't do the same with stars and that's great.

Unfortunately, I think the only way is to turn off temperature simulation globally. Hopefully, it's something that can be addressed when stellar evolution gets looked at.
We don't really simulate brown dwarfs specifically in Universe Sandbox right now. Their temperatures and properties are defined fairly strictly by a set of lookup tables and they're considered to be gas giants, not stars which is why there's a bit less freedom here.

The energy comes purely from the simulated internal fusion temperature so the temperature of a brown dwarf will always settle back towards the value determined by that power.

This is good feedback though, and something for us to think about in the future, especially as we think about stellar evolution. Thanks for bringing this up.

The thing is that their properties, like the relation between mass and temperature, often don't seem to match with real life brown dwarfs of the same mass.

Also, they tend to behave differently when I make them by massing down a red dwarf then when I make them by massing up a gas giant.
Since brown dwarfs have similar properties to red dwarfs with the exception of mass, can red dwarfs have their gravity reduced so they act like a brown dwarf?

Example:
A red dwarf of 90 Jupiter masses can already have its radius and temperature set to what a brown dwarf's radius and temperature are. If that brown dwarf has a mass of 45 Jupiter masses, could the red dwarf's gravity be set to 50% and allow it to simulate the brown dwarf reasonably accurately?
