For a game with such complex handling? I really doubt it. Can you name any similar game with gamepad support?

If you're that precise with a joystick enter CS tournament and win a million dollars.

This is an indie city-builder. Try big-budget ones like Cities: Skylines 2, Tropico 6 or Civilization 7 and see how they feel.

There's a big difference between CS and a city builder, isn't it?

Yes.

Do you have a source for this claim? 1/3 seems like a lot yet most PC games implement controller support if they plan on supporting other devices like consoles or handhelds.
OP seems to be unable to name a similar game with gamepad support.

Age of mythology retold.
Anno pax romana.

Living room PC sector is growing anyway. You will preferred play with a controller rather then mouse and keyboard. Steam deck and steam machine are adding extra users too.

That's not a source that's an assumption and an assertion of what you think another person would prefer. You have no idea what I, personally, would prefer but I will give you a hint.

Age of Mythology Retold. LOL that scheme on controller is most likely based on of Age of Empires II and only really preferred by console players. Do you really think anyone on PC plays AoE2 or AoM:Retold with a controller? And by anyone I mean 1/3rd of the player base on PC. That took YEARS and YEARS of testing to get right and is no where near the ability of this dev group to create as a separate control scheme for this game.

How well did CoH3 do on consoles? That's right. It stopped getting updates.

Pax Romana from Ubisoft is a AAA studio. The amount of resources they have is XXX times what Envision has. Its also on Xbox which is the entire reason it has controller support anyway.

I can tell you this, I bought Against the Storm for my Switch and while I think the scheme is OK I much prefer a M&K over the toggle and sluggish nature of the controller scheme. However, I do like Frostpunk on Xbox. I will admit they did a good job with that. BUT!!! those two games are much smaller scale. To say it cannot be done is not quite true but you would need at least an extra programmer and a few testers with some UI/UX devs to help you out. That's an extra group of 4 employees at 100k each?!? Not on Envisions budget. Plus, most PC players will play with a M&K. You don't make a business decision to hire 4+ people just to deploy a control scheme maybe 2% of your players would appreciate. Not without pushing development to consoles.

Same can be applied to:
Cities Skylines
Civ VI

More sluggish than PC IMO and just not well done.

These games are nothing compared to PoP, which has a much more options when building. You are obviously misled. Besides, I go with what ImNotACrooksHead said...

Imho it's lame even to think about it. But of course you can have your own opinion even when it is to troll.
I would like to see game pad support as well.

Getting negative feedback is normal, PC gamers will tell you an idiot when you ask for game pad support.
its one thing to have an opinion. its another to claim 1/3rd of the players on pc play with a controller then when asked for reference just asserts '..you will like it, trust me'

I use my gamepad only for racing, jump&run or shoot'em'up games. Even most action games I prefer mouse and keyboard, not to mention strategy games.
Gamepads/controllers have their place in gaming. City Builder games is not a genre where game controllers are beneficial. Give me a car racing game, or a space game, anything basically where the majority of my time is spent controlling a vehicle can use a controller, but not this genre IMHO.

There's a reason why it's not automatically included for RTS, CB's and the like , it's simply not financially prudent to spend the amount it will cost to cater to the very few that might want it.

If the game you want, doesn't have controller support, then don't buy it and vote with your wallet, though I have a feeling the numbers will be so low of people threatening "the game has to have it or I won't buy it" that it won't mean anything to the developers.

Fight your battles on games that could really benefit from controller support, the CB genre isn't one of them imo.
I remember someone asking on the Civ VI board if the game had controller support :steamfacepalm:
