Mac Version
First of all thank you for this great news. For years I was looking forward to a new Settlers game. The disappointment of the development of the new Settlers game was quite high, after Volker Wertich left the team. Now came fortunately the amazing news, that we just have to wait until the end of this year. Even a delay will be ok for me, as it is much better than having the thought that there won't be a new proper Settlers game anymore.

I just hope that there will be a Mac version, as many people use a Mac nowadays. From the M1 processors onwards there should be enough power for a strategy game. Thank you in advance for considering this. Even though it won't be for the Early Access version.

This might be a misunderstanding. There is only a Windows version. It works on some Linux configuration with Wine/Proton. While we try not to break compatibility with Proton we do not official support it.

Technically if CrossOver would be able to reach the same level of Windows compatibility as Proton it should work. You might start asking the CrossOver Devs if they have even plans to support our game.

As I know this question will come next. I cannot comment on future plans that are not part of a public roadmap yet. While there is no right now we will publish a new one in January.

As much as I hate to say it but as of now we have no plans for a Mac or even an iPad version.

Can you tell why? Too much effort for the possible gains from it?
iPad would require a completely different user interface. Also the way people buy games on iPad is different than PC so overall it becomes very complicated very fast.

For Mac it is the effort versus gains as you said it. A native Mac version is a lot of work in itself and Metal works completely different than DirectX12 once you start using advanced features.

To be fair such answers are not for the eternity, but as far we can currently see in the future. Depending on the success of Pioneers of Pagonia and the demand of a Mac version we may revisit our options next year. But for now, we do not work on it.
Thanks for explaining! So I now will keep my Windows PC only for being able to play this game! :steamhappy:
How about making this game playable via Geforce Now? For me, that would solve the problem of not having a Mac version.

Now that Apple released the game porting toolkit in macOS Sonoma and it should do the heavy lifting from DirectX 12 to Metal, any chance you'd reconsider? 😅
Very disappointed to hear there is no Mac version planned as I believe there is a growing number of people using MacOS now. I think you are missing a trick here.
It‘s so disappointing, that there is no Mac Version. My Mac Mini M2 has the Power to run this game. Im a settler fan starting from settler 1. Today i am a Mac user, and if more developers are doing a port to mac, the mac community is going to grow.
In meantime i habe my focus on mac native gamesâ€Ķso no „pioneers“ for me.
I already tried to run it using CrossOver on my MacBook Air M1 but with no success. Perhaps this will work at some point in the future...
Have someone tried to run the game with Whisky?
