Hey everybody,

Just a quick note to say we're aware there were problems for some existing players with accessing the 1.0 build. This was an issue with Steam globally, and it unfortunately caused a delay to REKA updating. As a small indie team, this was the last thing we could have wanted for launch day! 😂

We believe this should now all be sorted! If you're still experiencing issues with accessing the latest version, please either let us know in the comments or you can chat directly with us on Discord[discord.gg].

Thanks for bearing with us!

Hello witches!

It feels so wonderful to finally say this... REKA 1.0 is now live! The closing chapter to Reka and Baba Jaga's story is ready to play, plus new features and big gameplay improvements across all areas of our game. Grab a hot drink, light a few candles, and get warm and cozy; your chicken-legged cottage is calling for you!

Inspired by Slavic folklore, our game follows the story of Reka, an apprentice witch to the legendary Baba Jaga. Throughout all our updates there have been new trials and quests that continue their journey through the woodlands, and now the story is complete. Please let us know what you think of the ending!

There's more side quests, shrines, and collectibles throughout the maps! We know many of our players love to explore, so we've added more points of interest to bring the world to life.

House building is one of the coziest features to our game, and one our players can spend many hours on. If building and decorating a witchy chicken-legged cottage sounds like the perfect way to relax, we really think you'll love the new mechanics and items we've added. There's new wood types (and clay!), new items, you can drag to build or delete multiple house pieces at the same time, a rotation indicator compass, smarter snapping, better roofing, and more.

We want our players to be able to immerse themselves in the calming (and sometimes a little eerie) landscapes of REKA, so we've paid a lot of attention to your surroundings. There's an improved wind system, moths will fly around light sources at night, footprints, splashes, breath shows in the cold, and wet clothes in the rain. All the things we love about autumn!

You can now collect Steam Achievements! There are 21 achievements you can unlock, from Sage of the Stove to Witch's Castle. You'll then be able to decorate your home with special achievement plaques. We hope you enjoy collecting them all!

We've also introduced background autosaving during regular play and after important quest moments or hut building sessions. The frequency is adjustable too, so you can decide what works for you.

Working on optimization has been a big focus of our throughout Early Access, and for our 1.0 launch we've also focused on performance around big houses and light-filled villages.

The full patch notes will follow shortly for anybody who would like to read!

It wouldn't be a proper 1.0 launch without a nice big discount! If you're seeing REKA for the first time, have been waiting for our full release, or have some friends who you think might enjoy our game, now is the best time to get involved!

If you've been on the lookout for a cozy, wholesome space where you can talk all things witchy, we'd love to welcome you to our Discord server![discord.gg] Everybody is so lovely and you can discuss REKA and share tips and house builds, but also we've got channels dedicated to cooking, reading, arts, animals, and more!

REKA is our first game, a labor of love, and it's been shaped massively by our community. Early Access has been a whirlwind experience, and we wouldn't be where we are now without all the feedback from our players. From joining playtests and leaving Steam reviews, to bearing with us while we squash bugs, it's all been so incredibly helpful. We really hope you love playing REKA as much as we've loved making it. Thanks for all the support! <3

Spotted a bug? If you see anything that's not working quite like it should be, please do let us know! We'll be keeping an eager eye over the next couple weeks to support with post-launch bugs. Thank you!
