Back after a long break — need help
Hello everybody!
I haven’t played Sea of Thieves in a very long time (the last time was in season 11, I think), and a lot has changed here. As a result, I have a few questions:

First of all, it’s worth clarifying — I’m mostly a solo PvE player.
1. What’s the most effective way to level up faction reputation (and, of course, earn gold)? I’m primarily interested in the standard factions (the Gold Hoarders, the Order of Souls, the Trading Company, Athena, and the Reaper’s Bones). I’ve heard about the Banished vaults and the Ashen Garrison — is that true?
2. I’m also interested in the Smugglers. Do they have any rewards, reputation, and so on? I’m also interested in the Hunter Brotherhood (I don’t think their leveling process is similar to that of other factions, so I’ve put them separately).
3. Could you tell me what the best weapon combination for PvE is right now? I use a pistol + a sniper rifle (I don’t like shotguns because of their too‑small radius).

I think that’s all for now. Thank you very much!

Welcome back ^^

1. Banished vaults are indeed decent gold & reputation, but mostly for guild and Reaper emissaries. Aside from that, world events are the way to go. Ashen garrisons are terrible for gold & reputation, I'd avoid those unless someone else has already done one and you fancy stealing it.
2. Smuggler stuff only gives gold - there's no faction for them. Hunter's call level up at the same rate as other factions now - same with Athenas. There are also 5 prestige levels for each company effectively giving you 505 levels to grind for.
3. A lot depends on your own playstyle but generally sword & blowpipe are decent at dealing with PvE, with sword & throwing knives for skelly lords/ashen lords. Though I expect you were actually indenting to ask about PvP loadouts, in which case pistol + sniper or blunderbuss + sniper are still the PvP metas.
Thank you very much)
For the most part, I was mostly interested in weapons for PvE; I try to avoid getting involved in PvP.
Could you tell me then what can be used to level up the main factions? As you said, events? I’m just afraid that other players will flock to them (although, as I understand it, the game’s online population has decreased lately).
When you lvl up a specific faction you want to use the most of the emissary bonus so the best is sitll doing missions for that emissary rather than any other activty that will be giving loot for all factions at once. Sell at lv 5 reset flag and jump into a tall tale portal to reset the pve encounters.

Smugglers gives a lot money with minimal effort, it's like an upgraded version of merchants as you go somewhere collect a couple items deliver them, except you don't need to lvl up your flag to get the max income. But you will be only lvling up your guild faction with smugglers, i think you get like 30k every 10-15 minutes if you maximize your speed.
Completing a bunch smuggler achievements is needed if you care about the smuggler curse.

For pve the best is blowpipe + knife.
also before you jump back in, you can do safer seas without worrying about others
Safe seas are not suitable due to the inability to raise the reputation above 25, it seems - and the absence of the Athena faction, even if it is open

I tried Banned vaults - and it's cool, I liked it. Can anyone explain how this guardian is reborn? How long will it take? If I have already found it on 1 island, can I go there again after a while and find the grave there again?
It's largely RNG at large islands.
