Hephaestus sux
There's something just off about how his boons work. Like the idea of heph with the mini nukes sounds cool but is just so useless practically because of the huge windup time. It takes a lot of poms to even make it viable. The cast ones are especially useless because they reduce it's size to a laughable amount.

Heph is probably the strongest god in my playthroughs. Impervious at the start of each fight carries in the late game, and the dash explosion is crazy once you have any mana regen. The dash explosion which, if you hadn't noticed, has no cool down except for how long it takes to cast and get mana back, and gets its damage boosted by poms instead of how frequent it can proc. Possibly the single strongest damage boon in the game.
heroic attack is like 2secs for 200 or 400 dmg either way it's insane and honestly the point of him is using it on the button you don't spam(attack or special) just so you can get free aoe dmg every once in a while.his dmg reduction magick regen and cast(if i used casts) aren't terrible either but yeah many boons lneed buffing right now but i can think of worse ones than his.
Heph is great with just a little investment, at least in my experience. Bringing down the cooldown timer for his explosions is great for melting bosses. But rest assured everything will be changed with time and probably made to feel more intuitive.

Now Zeus on the other hand feels worthless for basically every run.
Yeah, I'm never too hyped to see him pop up. Most of his stuff just flat out doesn't provide the same level of DPS the others can give you. He's got some really good stuff in his selection, but he's got a lot more mediocre crap so its a crap shoot to get something worthwhile from him.

sprint is good but it's kinda awkward with the wind up(channel) and how you need to be gigaclose to the enemy to get them.I guess since it's nearly the only damaging sprint it's up there for dmg but poseidon imo destroys it.

quick attack weapon->prime for chain lightning on attack(+potentially blitz+lightning buff effects)=win, ionic gain is terrible though.

A lot of the boons feel useless xD
for a zeus biased dagger build, you WANT hephaestus for trusty shield to prime 30 magic.

then you get prime 50 with static shock from zeus to have chain lightning.

with both of those you can duo hephaestus and zeus for master conductor which increases the chain lightning damage 15% each bounce.

You're aiming to have 10 magic exactly, so that spirit surge from zeus spams everything with lightning, but you don't want 0 so that the arcana of when you have less than 100% magic gives you 40% attack damage is usable by 1 special throw.
Heph is great when im running a build or weapon where im not using one or two of my main attack buttons like say the torches special. Where i can get huge value out of a single button and then continue my main dps.

The dash boon he gives is also probably my favorite of the dash boons atm, its tricky to aim the explosion but the damage speaks for itself

zeus is the most OP build in the game.

go backstab dagger.
get blitz from zeus.
every time you do 120 damage you pop the blitz which is literally every second.
chain lightning from zeus
multiple lightning procs from zeus
if under 10 magic, entire map is spammed with lightning
heph trusty shield + chain lightning zeus = -80 magic so easy to stay under cap
10 magic = spam special once to trigger 40% damage from arcana of not being at 100% magic

heph+zeus duo static shock so chain lightning increases damage more.
hestia for flame flourish for special to apply scorch
hestia+zeus combo scorches things when blitz goes off
dagger 300% final hit, increased backstab damage, hold button for spam attack any of it is viable
artemis for crits/fire arrows on attack

I've cleared chronos full run in 10 minutes with this build. i had hestia for armor bonus damage which made tartarus trivial but slowed the chronos kill itself down (i'm assuming armor bonus damage is irrelevant to bosses?)
Haephestus is probably the strongest defensive set of Boons in the game, and I actively seek him out every single time. Trusty Shield is basically "regen 10-30 HP per room", while also synergizing with Arachne's crazy boosts, and even just taking the Boon that grants a large flat chunk of Armor can trivialize the later encounters.

His offense isn't terrible either! His dash can be a win-con all by itself if coupled with mana regen and supported by movement speed/dodge/daze/weak, and his Cast works really well with Zeus or Hestia's boon that turns your Cast into a ranged nuke, Apollo's to make it wider, or Demeter's to make it freeze/slow enemies within it.

The long cooldown nukes on his attack/special are great boons to have on any action that is lower on your priorities. Example.. if you're playing with Pan Aspect daggers or Artemis Aspect Daggers, you could get good value out of having the Haephestus Boon on whichever of your Attack or Special you're not using as your primary means to deal damage.
Yeah, I couldn't make much use out of his attack and special boons, either. For attack and special boons, Poseidon, Aphrodite and Demeter felt like the strongest ones for me.
I think it's OP and all it takes is some patience on your end
Another way to look at his Boon that grants a huge amount of Armor + knockback immunity is to equate it as roughly similar as if he gave you an extra Death Defiance charge (like Athena did), but one with additional synergy and scalability.

It's easy to get caught into the mindset of "this one-off thing doesn't have a persistent, replenishable effect and so it must be a bad value for my next Boon selection", but it's all very dependent upon when you take those bonuses and how much they influence major enemy encounters. Having persistent value is meaningless if you're dead, ya know?
people talking about how happhaestus is either weak or op goes to show how balanced (most) of the gods are imo, theres so many possible builds i love it
