hey i was thinking of getting a job at a starbucks in toronto (six points plaza) and just had a few questions
-starting pay? i heard it's 8.25? -do you get many hours? -is it hard to learn all the drinks/the cash? -are the customers assholes?
i'm a cashier at a grocery store right now and really can't deal with the rude customers anymore. but i'm hoping that customers at strabucks realize that it takes a bit longer to get your coffee than going to tim hortons for example, you know what i mean?
and do they need a resume, or do they just have applications? AND, is it hard to get a job there?

Thanks for the link. In the sun looks interesting. I saw Justin Timberlink did a remix of the song with will.i.am.

| Partners - I need your help for authorized Starbucks book |
[17 Dec 2005|11:11pm] |
Green Apron Book, Coffee Master, and Customer Resistance Experiences needed!
You may have heard about a new book being written in conjunction with the company (for example, it has been discussed at Starbucks gossip)! I am the author. I am focusing the book at the Starbucks store level. Its deadline is February 1,06 and it is scheduled to be published in the fall by McGraw-Hill. (I have all the requisite permissions from Starbucks corporate for partners to participate. Please check out the following (http://www.starbucksstories.com/Starbucks%20permission.pdf) or email me at josephm@lessonsforsuccess.com. You may also contact cgorley@starbucks.com
I am giving Starbucks gift cards and copies of the book, if your experience is included in the book.
As I approach deadline, I would appreciate your assistance. If possible would you share with me experiences you have had that:
involve the BE Knowledgeable concept. For example, where you have helped a customer learn more about coffee or wher coffee master training turned out to help a customer. reflect a willingness to work with a customer's resistance or where you accepted criticism from a customer well
This book (working title the Starbucks Success Blend) pays tribute to the uniquely customer driven behavior of Starbucks baristas. The more you share the better I will be able to capture the incredible Starbucks experience. Respectfully, Joseph A Michelli, Ph.D. www.starbucksstories.com

Hi everyone. I wanted to apply to Starbucks and I was looking from some advice. For the application form they ask several questions such as
- Have you ever visited a Starbucks Coffee location? Where? Describe your experience
- What do you like about coffee?
- WHy would you like to work for Starbucks Coffee company?
- Describe a specific situation where you have provided excellent customer service in your most recent position? Why was this effective?
I was wondering what the best way to answer these questions was. Do you think I'd have a better chance with really cheesy answers like
"Coffee is my life"
So, if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Also, can anyone answer how much a Barista makes?
I realllly want to get this job so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Yesterday I got my first good compliment from a customer and it made me feel sooooooooooo good :D It honestly made me feel that I"m doing my job right! I get my bar class today :D Then I won't feel so left behind.
This new menu board is weird. But it makes our store look more brighter. Customers come in and are like "*gasp* what happened to the menu board"
On my way to work soon. MMMMM I want a Toffee nut Latte

Okay I need advice....
On thursday was my first day working with one of my shift supervisors and I honestly felt like shit working with her. Like gawd I know I don't know everything but I try to do my job to the best of my ability! For about an hour or two it was just me and this shift supervisor and she was so grumpy the whole two hours. She got frustrated with me and apparently told one of the starbucks partners that she's frustrated with me because I don't get enough hours so I don't know what I'm doing. Um... Hello... Aren't you as a shift supervisor suppose to be helping out new partners? Star skills? I dunno man... Then when the next shift supervisor comes in she starts being all happy and lets out like this sigh of relief that he's here.
I was talking about this with my friend and he says to bring it up with my manager, but.... I don't want to sound like I'm complaining... I dunno...All I know is that I"m not liking this shift right now and I dread the day I get to work with her again. I don't want to feel like that.
Apparently she treats all new partners like this. So now I have to prove myself to this person? Wow I love how much more stress I have to go through at work....

| Yay my Starbucks drinks reference guide from SHeile ;) |

Calling drinks does take a bit to get the hang of, for sure => Just takes practice ’till it’s unconscious => (Iced) (Decaf) (Shots) (Size) (Syrup) (Milk) (Extras) (Drink) One of my regular drinks is an Iced Venti NonFat Light Ice Tazo Chai, (N in Milk, Lt. Ice in Extras, CH in Drink) I also like getting a Decaf Venti Extra Whip, Extra Sprinkles Peppermint Mocha => (X in Decaf, XWC and Xsprinkles in Extras, PM in Drink) Depending on how you learn things best, you’ll pick it up either by hearing it over and over again, or maybe by marking the cups yourself => If that doesn’t work we’ll set you up to the electric shock machine }=> ;>

I'm still new to this community thing. But anwayz I created this community for people who work in Starbucks in Canada. Anyone else can join as well.
So yeah... I guess we'll see how this community progresses in the next comming months!
