Memo: Re: Fwd: Game This Weekend
Hail and good morning, yo.

Few things I wanted to run over before this weekend is upon us.

First things first, I wanted everyone to know that while it IS true that I hold a certain attitude and demeanor while running my game on Saturday, it's not because I dislike you, or feel some sort of anger towards you. My attitude while running my game is very no-nonsense, and I try my best to make sure you know not only HOW to make a character, but WHY you're doing it.
If you feel that perhaps I'm being too tough on you, please, let me know. I'm not here to make your life too difficult, I'm here to tell a story. My style of running a game is different from Joe's style. I AM a bit more intense from day one. But please don't let that dissuade you. Especially since everyone has been doing so well.

Secondly, game this weekend. Just so everyone knows, I'm still hoping you will all type up or email your backgrounds to me. Most of you, I have some form of background, or a fairly good idea of where you've been and what you've done. But I am INTENSELY interested in getting the new players involved, and need some sort of info from you all. If you don't know what you're doing, we'll probably have to sit down and sand down the rough spots and get everything worked out.
I'm all for that.

And lastly, I'm working on finalizing the game 'crew'. As of right now, Shelby is my Co-Storyteller. Steve is involved in arbitration, and Emily and Richard sounded interested in being Narrators. So, as soon as I know, I'll tell you all EXACTLY who can do what for you. But until then, be aware that approvals and character generation should be run through Shelby or myself. Rules calls can be run past Steve, Emily, or Richard. If you need anything else, ask.

Cool.
There.
I, for one, feel better.

Dearest Kindred residing in Bellingham
How glad I am to see so many of you still flourishing despite some acts of random and blatant stupidity amongst you. I am glad to see that such actions have been dealt with efficiently and with much haste.

But, I digress. There are a few matters of which I would appreciate you all handling soon.
Your Prince has done much to assure the safety of the Kindred in this city, and although I am certain he is of much greater resources, many of you have not shown your appreciation appropriately.
Many clans showed reluctance to defend their city against a supernatural threat in Burlington mere nights ago, and I ashamedly admit that even my own clan did little to stem the breach. As a fact, the only one's who showed dedication to defending this city were the Brujah, under the guidance of the Setite who posed as their Primogen.
Such an embarrassment should never happen again.
As well as this, another embarrassment occurred in the allowance of this 'faux' Brujah to waltz into Elysium with a machine gun. And not a one of you barely batted an eye.
Perhaps you all think this is amusing. I did not. I found it a gross breach of Elysium rules, the Traditions, and should I witness you all allowing such nauseating acts of disrespect again, it will not be a comfortable evening for ANY of you.

Firstly, I expect all of you to challenge any new Kindred you see WANDERING into Elysium at any time. I cannot count the number of Kindred who have simply walked in, sat down, and remained unchallenged by the Camarilla members around them. If you should see someone you do not recognize simply lounging about in our midst, I expect you to handle it before I do, just as the Prince expects me to handle problems before they reach him. As well, should a Kindred be obviously not respectful of the Traditions, it might behoove you all to CONSIDER THE FACT THEY MAY NOT BE CAMARILLA!!
The Brujah Clan should find themselves ashamed that they allowed such an individual to infiltrate their Clan.

Secondly, quite a few of you had better begin educating your own on the standard etiquette and manners that belong in a proper Court. I have been approached by numerous Kindred referring to me as, "Malkavian Primogen"...not to mention how many times I've been referred to as, "Hey, you.". I will not tolerate ignorance amongst our kind. It is unbecoming. And Lord Almighty save the next Kindred who addresses the Prince of this City with anything but a respectful title. "Mr. Stone/Nosferatu Prince/Hey, you", or any other title lacking the proper respect due to a Camarilla Prince will be dealt with by a firm re-education. This I swear.

And lastly, I am the Seneschal. I am the Prince's eyes and ears, on occasion..his mouth and hands. I am NOT your goddamnable Primogen. You will NOT have your young childer running to me with every squabble that comes to light. If you have not been introduced to how the Camarilla works, here is a small primer:

As an Acknowledged Kindred in a City, you have sworn fealty to the Prince. You promise to abide by the Traditions, and to RESPECT the Prince AND the Traditions of the Camarilla. If you are Acknowledged, you are Acknowledged as you presented yourself. Thusly, if you pretend to be some other person...a Brujah, say...and you are not truly of that Clan, you become unAcknowledged. The next person who comes to me asking if, "The Setite posing as the Brujah Clan Primogen is now UnAcknowledged in the City", is going to be introduced to whoever steps up as the Harpy for public ridicule. And there WILL be a damned Harpy...we are simply waiting for someone to show promise.
Now, once you are Acknowledged, you become grouped with your Clan. Your Clan has an 'elected' representative. Your Primogen. He/She is your voice and your representation in the Primogen Council. He/She is also held responsible for the actions of the members of his Clan. Therefore, when there are issues...a member of the Camarilla will go to their Primogen. They will discuss it with the Primogen, AND THE PRIMOGEN HAD DAMNED WELL HANDLE IT. It is up to the members of a Clan to oust "Vote of No Confidence", if you will, your Primogen if he shows gross negligence of your Clan and it's issues.
You do NOT bring issues to the Seneschal, Sheriff, Harpy, Keeper of Elysium, and DEFINITELY not the Prince.
Your Primogen shall bring issues to the Clan Primogen with whoever you have issues with. And if your Primogen cannot speak with them, or talks are unsuccessful...then THEY shall present the problem to the appropriate Elder.

I have had random squabbles brought to my attention, as if I'm the one who is supposed to be handling them. This is what is known as 'jumping the chain of command'. It will no longer be dealt with lightly.

Now, I must retire.
I anxiously wait for the next meeting, and hope Elysium will be a bit more gracious and secure this time.
Thank you, and good evening.
William Smith, Feared Seneschal under the Revered Majesty of Mr. Smith, Respected Prince of Bellingham. Childe of Malkav and Faithful, Acknowledged Member of the Camarilla

So for all you gamer geeks that don't already know, there is a lunar eclipse this Saturday around 5pm and it will last about 25 min.

For vamps, I dunno if you care too much

For Garou, this might mean just a little bit more. Since it is a lunar eclipse, this also means that it's a full moon. Think about it *mwhahahaha* Stay away from the warder....

Current Mood: devious

An addendum to our Esteemed Seneschal's discourse.
We are not human.

We are, however, humane.

Elysium is a place of peace. It was the name of "Heaven" in Greek mythology - a paradisical afterlife, much like what we seek for ourselves in our own lives. As such, our Elders set Traditions into place which would safeguard our unlives as happy ones.

I appreciate all of you staying here in this time of strife. I will forewarn you, however: the Beast holds those in New York as it holds those in Baltimore. While those of the Sabbat unleash their Beasts, the behavior of one who courts predation makes a little concession to his or her Beast every day.

What I'm trying to get at is this: while respect for elders is necessary - you trust me for more reasons than you likely care to know - you should also understand that no elder seeks to prey upon you (nor should any neonate). I know that many neonates - I won't name any names - like to use vampiric abilities under the guise of self-defense. There's one among the kine who makes the same claim, and I'd rather not have a pack of militant Kindred claiming Charleton Heston as their patron. Many an innocent Kindred has been executed in the name of "self-defense," let me tell you that. Under no circumstance do I want to see an unfamiliar Kindred greeted with fists. This behavior only leads us headlong into the jaws of the enemy, whether that enemy be Sabbat subversion, anarch ignorance, or the Final Frenzy.

I have witnessed this hostile behavior already, and it brings me worry that there are some among us who are so young and undisciplined that they bring danger into our own ranks. Even those ancillae who expect their brothers and sisters in the Camarilla to betray them at any moment contribute to an atmosphere of fear - an atmosphere of fear which tears away within the Camarilla like the demons within our hearts and minds.

This is my city, and I want it to be a peaceful one. I take great pride in that our Elysium can be one filled with illustrious and intelligent characters. Remember that the Camarilla is the Great Society of vampires - that all are welcome, and that all have something to offer.

And remember, for those of you who would wait to turn your wrath on your foes:

There are those of us already in power whose job it is to take care of vampires who cannot keep their hostility in check.
