The American Red Cross needs as many volunteers as they can get. In order to become a volunteer, interested people must first call in at (915) 593-0208 to sign up for one of the following mandatory orientation meetings: Tuesday, September 9, 2005 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2005 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2005 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call in as soon as possible to sign up, as they will not be accepting walk-ins. They can give you more information on where orientations will be taking place. It is short notice and I know several of you have classes, work, or other prior engagements, but those who can attend are urged to do so. It is for a good cause and community service is always a plus.

2:58 pm - Setting up early music group
|

biailisha
|
OK. I am posting as an early music musician, not as a goth or DJ....
Please forward this to the general Las Cruces / El Paso community, especially groups for music students.
I am an experienced harpsichordist and recorder player, and also player of medieval instrument (formerly Sex Seacla). I have a musicology degree and had done some teachings (early Davis mixer). I came from Colonial Williamsburg and had performed there. I am looking for a few players of ability to form a small early music group, specialised from medieval to early Classical period. If you are a player of early music (singer, baroque or renaissance dancer, recorder, oboe, shawmn, violin, viol, cornetto, renaissance instrument, harpsichord, traverso, gamba, cello, etc.), please contact me.
The object of this group is to play music that is seldom heard, performed in its original score (facsimile) if possible, original pitch and temperament, and also settings (we can discuss this later). In short, we try to have a historical informed performance pratice group. This will not be just another Baroque group. Costumes will be nice (I have some, we can discuss this later).
I have more than one harpsichord and a few more instruments that I can share, I also have space and recording equipment. I have tremendous amount of music ready to play, and they are not your average Baroque or Renaissance pieces. I live in downtown Las Cruces, easily accessable especially if you are an NMSU music student.
Nobody will be turned away. If there are more than two harpsichordists both will be played. I have music for that! If you are SCA or in theatre, we may need your help to make costume, or do baroque or renaissance dancing. We can try to produce small baroque operas.
Please email me for details (recorder at cygoth dot com).

3:18 pm - Dave Matthews concert on 31st

A friend bailed out on me at last minute due to his work schedule.
I just want to get rid of his one ticket and a nice hotel room for a really low price. (I don't want the stress, I just want back a little pocket money and will happily take the loss.)
Here's the Deal:
August 31st @ 7pm at Albuquerque, NM (Cricket Pavillion) ONE (1) Dave Matthews Band concert ticket (reserved sitting (middle/middle), which was originally $59.00 plus all those fees = $73.00 But... I am willing to take only $25.00 bucks.
Also: I have an "already-paid" room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (4 star with pool), and regular price is $129 bucks (a double) -- But I am willing to give it up for $35.00
Even Total for both ticket and room =$60
So... You can go on your own with this one reserved seating ticket ---- or you can buy a 2nd ticket for friend for $39.00 (lawn) ticketbastard (still available) and go with friend. Either way it is a steal.
If interested let me know - chasemice2003@aol.com
