We're delighted to have you with us!
It's now time for you to participate in the sorting ceremony.
Don't be alarmed... just pull up the stool, place the sorting hat on your head and await the verdict.
It doesn't hurt a bit and no student has ever been placed in the wrong house.

HOW TO BE SORTED

Go to this entry with the sorting survey.
Fill out the survey.
Do not attempt to fix the voting... answer truthfully and thoroughly!
Post survey into the community using an LJ-cut.
It helps, to get quickly sorted, to bold the questions - students can read your survey easier. Prefered subject line is: Sorting Survey of [insert your LJname].
Members will vote for whichever House they feel suits you best.
After 2-4 days you will recieve an official sorted noticed from bluemchenblatt or hope_and_death. (Which says OFFICIAL NOW or something similar. x3)
Do not argue with anybody about your House placement... you will be banned if you do so.
Once you've been sorted you will be invited to join your House Common Room.
Don't forget to go to your House Common Room once you've been sorted to apply for admission!
The reason these are moderater-approved membership communities is so that the Prefects don't have to worry about members of other Houses or non-Hogwarts students sneaking in!
Just say you want to join the community and the Prefect approve you if...AND ONLY IF...you have been sorted into that house.
Once they have approved your membership you are free to post as often as you like, completely unmoderated... but keep your Common Room entries Friends-Locked!
If you try to join a House Common Room for a House you do not belong to it will be reported to the webmistresses and your house will lose points. If you are unsorted and attempt to join a common room you will be reminded once that you cannot join until you've been sorted. Future attempts made by a repeat offender who has yet to be sorted will result in that student being expelled from Hogwarts.

Our Simple Rules

01. RESPECT OTHER STUDENTS!
02. All applications must be placed under an LJ-cut. No cut = no sorting!
03. All applications will be accepted. Please be patient! If we approve them all too close together the other members may miss out on sorting you because you'll get lost in a bundle of 5 or 6 applications! We'll try to approve as fast as possible.
04. Only sorted students are allowed to place incoming students! PLEASE VOTE IF SORTED!!!
05. When sorting students please provide a brief explanation as to why you placed them in a particular house.
06. Post only Harry Potter related news unless it has been cleared by the maintainer!
07. ABSOLUTELY NO LJ-DRAMA WILL BE TOLERATED! Mods reserve the right to expell students.
08. Sorted Students are encouraged to participate in challenges to earn House Points!
09. Once sorted, members are asked to post excessively long posts behind cuts... or risk losing points!
10. Sorted Students must sign every entry with their name/handle and their house. For anyone who has them, why not use your banner? For anyone without, you can make a doll here: http://elouai.com/doll-makers/candybar-doll-maker.php. You can design your own background or post a request, with your doll, in sorting_song.
11. Follow individual House Common Room rules when hanging out there.
12. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
13. When sorting other members please BOLD or *STAR* your final answer! (<*b>HOUSE<*/b> - w/o the stars house will be bold!)
