What we do
The Sew London Project CIC is a social enterprise that aims to reduce âtextile waste by empowering communities through hands-on workshops. âThe organization teaches essential repair and alteration sewing skills, âallowing individuals to extend the life of their garments and reduce their âenvironmental impact. In addition to workshops, Sew London offers a âvariety of services, including clothing rentals, professional repair and âalteration services, and the resale of preloved clothing. By providing these âsustainable fashion solutions, the enterprise encourages a circular âeconomy and promotes mindful consumption. Our core mission is to foster âcreativity, sustainability, and community engagement while reducing the âfashion industry's carbon footprint through practical sewing skills and âsustainable practices.
Why CREATIVE SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITY?
About Us
It is important to take care of our environment and help improve the well-being of lives, these two âthings are very important to the Sew London Project CIC, we started in 2013 and evolved into a âsocial enterprise in 2020.
We continue to to work within our local community of Barking and Dagenham, the council, Schools, âand other organisations, on collaborative projects to help educate how to reduce textile waste âcreatively.
It is important to promote sustainable Fashion education to the younger generation through social âresponsibility programs in schools and Further education colleges, to help raise awareness of the ânegative impact of fast fashion on our environment, and to promote the reduction of landfill and âcarbon emissions.
The programs will teach how to reduce, reuse and upcycle workshops, sewing, Up-cycling projects âand talks.
Our school workshops can be tailored to the school time table anything from 45 mins assembly, one âday projects to several workshops over a term. We also run CPD Days for organisations and schools.

What we do
SEW LONDON REPURPOSE STORE
The high street has changed and the SEW LONDON âPROJECT CIC wants to be part of the revolutionary vision âto Re-think the high street and circular economy.
In September to November 2023 we opened our first âPop-up store at Ilford Spark Lab, and the community had âa positive response to our presence and our vision to âreduce waste and sell second hand clothes, or have their âgarments professionally repaired.
At the Sew London Project Re-Purpose Pop-ups and âShops,
Our focus is on resale of pre-loved fashion, clothes ârentals, professional repairs and alterations services, but âwe also educate the next generation health and well-âbeing, repairs and alteration skills to repair their own âgarments, entrepreneurial skills, sewing, arts and craft âprojects to Adults and Young people how to re-think fast âfashion and its harmful effects on the environment.
The Mayor's of London's vision is by 2030, there will be âzero waste, textiles being one of the worst pollutants.
The heart of what we do is working with local âcommunities, deliver 'Catch them young' Up-cyclinâg schools projects in conjunction with the local wastâe management team within the Borough of Barking anâd Dagenham, and other sustainable events in otheâr London âbâoâroughs.

We are a big believer in giving back to the âcommunity so when I was approached in 2022 âto create Bereavement quilt blankets for âQueens Hospital Romford, my local âcommunity raised money to buy fabric and I âvolunteered with some members from my âsewing group to make blankets for the âbereaved, this is an on-going project, which âaim to keep supporting for as long as we can.
