NHK BS Premium had a seiyuu special for the new year called Akeome! Seiyuu Daishugo.

Someone loaded the full 5 hour special on billibilli.

Hosted by Sugiura Yuki (NHK announcer) and Nishikawa Takanori (T.M. Revolution).
The twelve seiyuu guests are: Izawa Shiori, Ito Kento, Ono Kensho, Kakuma Ai, Kotobuki Minako, Sanada Asami, Seki Tomokazu, Takahashi Hiroki, Toyosaki Aki, Nakamura Eriko, Han Megumi and Miyake Kenta.

They do character lines from some of their best scenes voted on by fans as well as taking phone calls from the audience. They also bring manga scenes to life by lending them voice.

There are also special video greetings from many seiyuu like Taketatsu Ayana, Kaji Yuuki, Nozawa Masako, Saitou Soma and Mikami Shiori.

The 189:00 mark has Miyake Kenta doing his most voted for scene as All Might.
From the start it was obvious that the audience would overwhelmingly vote for that scene. "Sarabada, One For All".

Hope I will have a scan version soon! ^^

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE released in North America today.
It is the Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem game that evolved to be more ATLUS x Fire Emblem.
Usually, ATLUS games released here are English dub only. But this game is unusual in that it is original Japanese voice audio with English subtitles instead.

I, for one, am glad that we have this here. The seiyuu are very good. The game focuses on the modern Japanese entertainment and idol industry. So Japanese voices would probably be the best choice.
The reason they went with this is that doing and English dub would have cost extra, especially since they would have likely required all the character songs to be English dubbed as well. That's a lot harder to do and thus more expensive. This game is expected to sell only niche numbers, so Nintendo would likely want to avoid extra costs.

Veteran seiyuu Mizutani Yuko passed away on May 17 from breast cancer at age 51.
Why is cancer taking the lives of so many in the anime industry?

She voiced many beloved characters in anime as well as video games.
In Japan she was famous for her role in Chibi Marukochan.
I first heard her as Mihoshi in Tenchi Muyo.
She was cool as Fia Arcana/Faurink Maya, Plasmatizer in Shadow Skill.
She was Disney Japan's official voice for Minnie Mouse, including in the Kingdom Hearts games.

Artists, mangaka and anime character designers paid tribute online with art.
The art of her character Sora from Digimon Adventure is quite touching.

I wanted to do this sooner. THis entry will be sad. #MatsukiMiyu
It was announced last week that seiyuu Matsuki Miyu passed away from medical complications from her pneumonia on October 27, 2015. She had been forced by her medical condition to take a hiatus from voice acting earlier this year.
She had many roles that were loved by fans, most recently as Anna in Shimoneta.
She turned 38 in September on the 14th. She wrote a very touching blog entry about her 38th birthday party.
In the entry she wrote "私、この病気が治ったら、本気で婚活するんだ…！"
"If my sickness is cured, I am seriously going to get married... !"

Many, MANY other seiyuu have expressed their thoughts and sadness on social media.

I dont think I saw this posted this year. Everyone remember the Seiyuu Awards in Japan? And that they have an overseas fan voting page?
The ceremony was March 7th. It was the 9th one.

Is this a format that people would like to use for this comm's awards? The one used by the awards and their overseas fan voting page.

So I have read the comments and seen what people have to say regarding the future of the seiyuu pool.
Maybe we should change things up. Add some new things for variety.
But that will require rethinking the entire format.

I think people should post suggestions and ideas. The comments in my last post here were a good start but by themselves they may not be enough.

Maybe having three or four polls a year would be good? Maybe one for each season? Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter? Or the one at the end of the year be the big one?

What categories would people want to vote on?

Should we outright copy the Annual Seiyuu Awards format? Can we come up with one of our own that's more fun because we're not restricted by ties to the industry?

I have not put up a Seiyuu of the Month poll yet for this month.
I have been wavering about it and have decided to just ask people on this comm.
I have noticed that the voting participation each month has seemed to dwindle over the years.
2014 seemed to see many months where maybe 5 or 6 people on the comm would vote. That's it.

Is it because the seiyuu comm and LJ in general have gotten smaller as people decide to just use Facebook or G+ instead? I know some mods have quit here.

Are people just losing interest in SotM because winners (and voters) don't actually get anything?

Are people just frustrating with voting for seiyuu they love but never seeing them win?

Years ago this comm was so active there was actually a Seiyuu of the Week poll for a while.
But that was crazy to manage. I knew I would never be able to keep that up. Someone else ran it. What used to happen was whoever won, they would be the main focus for sharing that week.
People on this comm don't share as much. Maybe YouTube has eliminated the need?

Should I continue taking the Seiyuu of the Month poll each month or is it really not something the comm here cares all that much about?

Any opinions? Please post in comments below.
