This community is dedicated to those who have the following questions:

1) Where the heck can I get an XXX fandom fic?!
2) Where can I find a good fic for XXX genre/with XXX squick?!
3) Where can I tute a horn for someone who wrote a good fic?!

Feel 100% free to ask any question, that might fit into these categories (or possibly outside them even, just make sure you follow the rules below).

Rules

Please note that breaking the rules in any combination probably will irritate the mods to varying degrees. It is at the mod's discretion what the punishment (warning, deletion, or banning) will be. This is non-negotiable.

x01. NO FLAMING. We mean it. No stupid flames. This is a recommendation community, not fanficrants. ^_^ (Go there if you wanna flame. Nobody's stopping you from linking there!) This applies not only for the fic itself, but pairing preferences, squicks, and so on. THIS IS AN OPEN-MINDED COMMUNITY. Go ride your moral high-horses elsewhere; this isn't the place for it.

xxx01a. To elaborate, arguing about art is like screaming at a brick wall to get out of your way. Fanfiction discussion can get more heated than it deserves, and I think we all know that, so let's do our best to avoid it. Discussion is encouraged, but if you take it too far the moderators will close the thread.

An example of concrit / a reasonable comment: I thought that fic needed to spend a little bit more time with a beta reader before it was posted. The characters just seemed a little too OOC, even if the mechanics were good.

An example of something that will get you banned: That was AWFUL. That wasn't Shinji, that was Colin Powell wearing a plugsuit!

x02. NO TROLLS. People who are obviously rec'ing fics that are horridly grammatically incorrect/are flamebait/are asking for flame wars/display marvelously ridiculous Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus will be banned... kthx. This will be monitored.

x03. THOU SHALT NOT REC THINE OWN WORK. We would think this might be obvious, but this is not your announcement board. People who want to read your stuff should be able to find it here through word of mouth... and by that, we mean not your mouth.

x04. THOU SHALT LABEL THINE POSTS PROPERLY.

xxx4a. You must put a rating for your requests/recs if it is above PG. If it is above PG-13, it also requires an LJ-cut. Be reasonable, kids. Over-rating is probably in better practice than under-rating.

xxx4b. If you have to LJ-cut your posts, then you must indicate before the cut or in the cut's title the general reason why it's cut. For example, indicators might be: "Cut for sex" or "Cut for squick." Don't get too specific, else you defeat the purpose of cutting. This works both ways; IF YOU KNOW THERE ARE SOME SQUICKS YOU'RE OFFENDED BY, DO NOT CLICK.

x05. THOU SHALT HAVE PROPER CONTENT IN THINE POSTS.

xxx5a. There is to be no fully written fanfics in your posts. The community is designed for linkage only.

xxx5b. If you wish to post an excerpt, you may. You may even post "spoilers" for the fic in question, but only if properly labeled and LJ-cut.

xxx5c. Do not link to shady websites. This can range from "unrelated content" to highly-spyware infested websites. ...The Pit of Voles gets an odd special exception to that, for some reason.

xxx5d. Do not spam the community. Single users are allowed only 2-3 posts per day. We won't be patrolling it 100%, but just don't make a bunch in a row. We'll probably notice. If you feel like you just have a lot of love to spread, you're welcome to put several links in a single post.

Relatedly, do not post about a single fic for every update made if it is a multi-chaptered piece. We don't really want to see the same fic come up more than once every month or two.

xxx5e. Do not pimp your community without permission. Please comment on the very first mod post located here and indicate you're looking for permission.

x06. NO SOCKPUPPET ACCOUNTS. Writing journal account postings are fine, but don't let us catch you with a journal created out of the blue posting stuff. This is a bannable offense.

x07. Thy moderators are wolfie and ai_ni_youkoso. Listen to them. This one didn't get caps, because we're doing our best not to look self-absorbed.

x08. SUBJECT LINES. Something that is helpful for those who are skimming, and for mods who are tagging, is putting the name of the fandom you're looking for / talking about in the subject line of your post. Doing this will probably increase your chances of getting a reply, and is frankly, helpful to all of us. So do it. Multiple fandoms can be separated with a slash. If you are looking for RPF/RPS, this should also be noted in your subject. This is not a bannable offense, so don't worry if you forget it once or twice, but we will nag you to label your post until you do, and if we have to keep at it, we won't be terribly happy. Eternally pissing off the mods is a bannable offense.

Friendly Suggestions

1. We don't encourage heated debate, but you're certainly welcome to discuss fanfiction here. In fact, if you don't, it might get a little boring. The moderators certainly encourage discussion in posts.

2. Don't post just everything that you come across that you even remotely enjoyed. Save your recommendation posts for things that you honestly thought were really good. Of course, if somebody asks for a bunch of goodfic to read, feel free to bombard them with links--in a comment, of course.

3. It'd be awesome if you somehow let the author of the fic know that you're posting here for them. Some authors don't provide a means to contact, we understand. However for those that do, it'd be polite to inform them. ^_^
