Hello, your moderator here.
Since one of our members got a nasty reply to an entry she wrote, I'm asking everyone to introduce themselves. You don't have to write a book, just say hey and tell me why your're here. I'll give everyone 4 days - if you haven't introduced yourself by then, I'm banning you.
This is simply to protect everyone that's here. I didn't want to do this, but it looks like a favorite little troll of mine has found this community.
I also urge you all to go back and make all non-friends only entries FRIENDS ONLY. And from here on out, all entries need to be FRIENDS ONLY.
And oh - pinks_and_blues, I'm banning you - considering your journal was made on the 15th and I'm not so sure you're not a troll. If you're not, then Prove it to me.

So.
We've decided to take the house off the market. It's just not working, and our real estate agent wasn't even really showing it. Anywho.
That's ok - most of the houses we ended up looking at were of equal square footage, just a different floor plan. This house is plenty big for a baby to join the family.
So, we've decided to just put the energy into fixing this place up a bit. We're rearranging things and rooms to free up our third bedroom for the little 'un. We're also going through all our closets and donating not needed stuff to Goodwill. We'll be getting all the carpets shampooed here shortly, and I started re-doing the bathroom today (new shower curtain, DEEP clean on the tub, re-painting, adding border *leopard print, YESSSS* etc., etc....
We've decided we're gonna paint the little 'un's room a really cool light green color that we bought a couple weeks ago, and we're going to be decorating it in, WHAT ELSE, animals. Probably reptiles and jungle-ish schtuff. And we have a super cool frog bean bag chair for the room....It's fuzzy. Methinks I like it more than the kid will. :)
We're liking WACAP more and more everyday. The people that we've talked to are more than nice and helpful, and they're VERY OPEN to lesbians adopting. They're also very supportive of our lifestyle. YAY!
Anywhos, that's about all.
Take care!

We are heading to L.A. tomorrow to meet our adoption lawyer. We have a 6 hour interview/counseling session with him on Monday. From that day on we are eligible to be matched with birthmothers. It is very exciting!!

There's a new website called RainbowConceptions.org that looks promising. GayfamilyOptions.org is still good but hasn't yielded us what we seek.
Pass on the word so the website becomes a good community resource.

Our social worker came for our home visit tonight. I have working to get the house clean and tidy for the last few days. Gaynor was telling me I was crazy because I was wiping down the fingerprints on the wall. I knew she wouldn't even look but I think I needed to do it just to be busy. Our social worker is a bit of a whirlwind. She comes in and it is like a friend we haven't seen in a few weeks. She catches us up on her last few weeks, she talks and talks, and puts everyone at ease. She truly is one of those people you just connect with immediately. She thinks our place is fabulous, says not to worry about it being small, she lived in a one bedroom with her daughter for two years. She said her daughter literally slept in the bathroom. She said, "it was big, it worked!". I love her.
It is funny, so many people in our education workshop said the homestudy is so invasive and stressful. Gaynor and I were just talking about how it is not at all what we thought. It is more like having a chat and telling her some stuff about ourselves, but we are pretty open people, so no big deal. Maybe it is just that she is so easy going and I don't think she asked us any really tough questions. She has not delved deep into my past thank god. She asked me a bit about how I handle stress and we talked about my depression but not in any great detail. We have only one more visit or possibly two, which is very exciting.
But the best part about tonight is that she told us that two men who are also her clients and are also going through the same lawyer as us, got a call today. They are heading to L.A. tomorrow to meet a birthmother. She is only 5 1/2 months pregnant, so it is early days, but it has been less then two months since they signed up with the L.A. lawyer. That means they could have a baby in less then 6 months from sign up. That means that could happen to us as well. I know that lots can go wrong between now and then, but just the fact that this lawyer does seem to work as fast as we were told gives us real hope. We have been in touch with these two guys the last few weeks. They are British like Gaynor and seem really nice. They have been very helpful to us, so I am so excited for them.
We fly down to L.A. in 17 days. Now I am getting excited to get this all started. Who knows we could have a baby before 2006!!!

Meagan and I have looked at a couple of different places, and one of the top ones so far is WACAP. (www.wacap.org). We got our information packet and read it from front to back in one evening lol.
On the house front: We put ours on the market yesterday, and have two houses already in mind. One REALLY in mind...it's a two bedroom so it's not as big as the four bedroom but it has a HUGE basement for the animals and a GIGANTIC totally fenced backyard. Plus, it has a really nice front yard too. One bedroom could be ours, the other for the baby. We're going to make appointments to look at both of them today.
So far, things are looking good. Just need to sell our house :)
How is everyone?

Hi there, everybody!
My partner have been together for what, four years? I forget. We got "married" this April and are looking forward to starting our family.
I want to join this group even though at this point we're looking for a donor. Is that ok? I want to connect with other rainbow mommas. Plus, I want to adopt at SOME point after we both get the health benefits of pregnancy.
We're a drama teacher and a PHd candidate in history. We live in Brooklyn. We are presently sort of parenting her 20 year old brother who has some dev. delays and new and exciting challenges every day.
