What has been going on – a primer
Work: got laid off, unemployed for 18 months (with some small work sprinkled in), shitty job for 2 weeks before I told them to go fuck themselves, week later a permanent job doing detail design for a pneumatic conveyer company, didn’t like the management so when a better opportunity came up I jumped ship for better pay. The office was downtown St. Paul but I mainly worked at the Malt-o-Meal plant in Northfield working as the plant design coordinator, liked the company but I was on contract for a year and a half so when my old company wanted to know if I would come back with my seniority back, more then I was making then and great benies I jumped ship and came back and loving working back downtown Minneapolis! I also worked at the MN Renaissance Festival the past two years (I did that years ago)
Relationship: Last year I ended a long term (13 year) relationship, it should have happened a long, long time ago. Her drinking had gotten so bad that I could not take the daily on slot of verbal and physical abuse, being taken advantage of, and dealing with cheating and the like. At some point I will go into way to much detail about some of the stuff that happened. As of mid summer, I started dating again, there was Crazy Kitten, Christian, Hare(y) Cleavage aka Scary, Purple, Screamer, Geegee, The Belly Dancer, The Other Belly Dancer, Salsa, Oops, CC and a few others, my boss out at Renaissance Festival started to can me Doug Joan since I had a little harem going at fest… I have cut things down to one or two for the time being but I meet a new girl Sunday that I really am digging on, might have room to still explore.
Spent a little time in San Francisco and hoping to head back that way soon.
I am also working hard at art again, will go into detail soon or you can go to my public art blog to see more.
Feel free to ask me a question if you like! I will probably be supper crass, open and honest here so be far warned, I need a non public vent area. |

Re(focus) is no good if there is no action to back it up so I broke the bounds that have been holding me back and forced myself back into the work I love so. As the shackles fall from my wrists and ankles I took off running as if something big and dangerous was chasing me, nipping at my heels. Four (4) new works started or restarted…
The first painting I started working on is a nude that had a base laid down some time ago, some blue outlines to indicate where I wanted the main figure to be on the page was also laid down. As a start I started by adding a wash of paint with drips and splatters to get the color vibe going for then started to block in the figure keeping a painterly and loose style through the image. I felt that it got to a good point and I left it yesterday as it is in the picture below.
Today I went back at it, I fought with the breasts a bit (sounds more fun than it really was) under the hands that I had already blocked out. I pretty much had to paint over some of what I liked of her left had to get the feeling and light I wanted for the breast/cleavage area. I also worked on the torso for a bit and added some cooler tones behind her elbow and curve of her waist and added some more splatter to the overall image. I will post some images of this phase when I can…
I really did not mean for this post to be a talk about process of this painting but I don’t think it is a bad thing especially for the re(focus), talking about what’s on the mind is good…
I have a few commissions lined up that I am going to start in the next few days, along with an opportunity to hang a few paintings at a trendy place downtown, more on that when I have things up though!
Boy, this has been a rambley post, I will shut up now… oh if anyone wants to know more , have questions or wants to commission me out/buy a piece please leave a comment! |

I have been gone from here for a long time, i don't see many people left, just some usual supects and the like, life has changed an increadible amount since the last time I stopped by. don't even know where to begin, not sure if anyone would even give a hoot. |

the big project from today was cleaning Sophia's (my parrot) cage. We took it all apart, no easy job, and hosed it down. I swear she almost had a heart attack when I was pulling the thing apart. She was so happy when it was back up and clean! |
