Everyone deserves respect, including men. What a concept!
This community was created on February 14, 2009 (how appropriate) after I had the bright idea to create a show called The Penis Monologues, to celebrate men and stand up for their rights in a world that vilifies and abuses them daily. This is not to say that women are not abused, just that neither gender is benefiting from the current social order. This community exists to combat that social order, to benefit all.
MEN: tell us your story. I am assembling monologues for The Penis Monologues, which I am going to try to get staged. By submitting your monologue to me (robertpeate@comcast.net) or to this community, you consent to have your monologue included in the DRAFT of the production (I reserve the right to correct your grammar or punctuation, but am open to negotiation), compensation to be determined later by contract if and when it gets to that point.
If you submit a monologue, please try to make it about ONE aspect of being male. On the bright side, you may submit as many monologues as you like! Posting is moderated, so only the best submissions will reach your friends page, and, perhaps, eventually a stage. I am excited!
WOMEN: you are welcome to join, and to contribute monologues in support of men and harmony between the sexes. That is what we need to be promoting here. The LAST thing we want is to treat you (or anyone) as a second-class citizen. We want you to help us to send a message that men are not just scum, as some believe. Your voice will carry special weight.
NOTE TO ALL: The Vagina Monologues was criticised for being misandrist. We will rise above that, and go one better, with men and women in our show, celebrating men, love, and harmony between the sexes. No misogyny or misandry allowed.
Posts are viewable by members only as well, to cut down on the risk of theft. This is a creative work, though a collaboration. You are of course welcome to post your own work on your own journal, but I would recommend courtesy when posting the work of others.
