I'm considering closing this community for obvious reasons. Anyone want it?

it's that time again, ladies & gentlemen. we are getting close to the release of the FINAL harry potter book, and so all entries will now be approved by the moderators. if you remember, several years ago, many many communities were trolled with copies of the "shocking" page of book 6.

even though this is not specifically a Harry Potter drabble community, we'd just feel better that way!

so, continue to drabble, and have fun!

Just something I wrote up in a fit, apparently. Careful, language.

( I can see myself.Collapse )

The challenge for this week (or maybe the next two, it depends on if I can get to my comp next Monday or not) is sports.

I really just want to say how awesome the World Cup games have been and make that the topic but I don't think that will leave any room for writer creativity ;)

Title: Apathy In Motion
Character(s): Death
Rating: PG-13
A/N: I say that the character is Death, but then again, I'm not entirely sure.

( Her red stilletto heels click on the marble floor, cold, cold, like her heart.Collapse )

Alright, I know it's Friday and I'm several days behind but I haven't been able to check my email much less really get on LJ so I'm sorry about this. This is next week's challenge posted early so if you still want to post for Challenge #3 up until Sunday go for it :)

The challenge up is color. Pick one, pick many, and go with them.

This week's challenge is from a rather famous poem by Robert Frost. The actual part I intended for inspiration are the lines in bold, but if something else strikes you, go for it. The reason I picked these lines is because they talk about how things in our lives always lead to things we don't expect, and the fact that we usually can't revisit the past.

( THE ROAD NOT TAKENCollapse )

Hello, everyone! I'm Robyn, and I'm here because zinaya is a very effective recruiter. ;-) I'm semi-active in the Harry Potter fandom, but though I love reading fanfic, I prefer to write original stuff. My usual genre of choice is romantic fantasy - swords, sorcery, and kissing, basically - but I like to do the occasional foray into science fiction and mainstream fiction, as well. My short stories have a distressing habit of turning into novels, so I'm really looking forward to practicing the art of brevity in this community!

So here's my first try:

Title: Clearer Now
WC: 171
Genre: Historical, Mystery, I have no idea
Challenge: Painting of Woman
Critique: Yes
A/N: I have no idea what this is about or where it came from....

It never occurs to her that all the others think she is crazy. In fact, with each passing day, things are becoming clearer and clearer.

“Samantha, love,” her mother whispers, “please put those books away. There is nothing in them for young ladies such as yourself.”

Samantha has become skilled in ignoring her mother. The books hold the answers to all the things she wants to know – about love and sex and travel and adventure and the world. They are the windows that open her eyes to what is outside her house.

She never hears her younger sister and cousins, gossiping from the porch, that Samantha has completely lost it and will soon be put away.

It is when she discovers the book of ink blots that the world becomes clearer. It is then that she can see the meaning behind each on, the beauty that they possess.

While Samantha’s eyes are opening, while things finally begin to make sense, the rest of the world knows that she has gone insane.
