The One-Minute Thoughts of Rebecca & Company

It's amazing how much trouble one minute's worth of thought can cause.

It all started with a vision, on May 10, 2002.

madshrubbery, commonly known as "Le Beckish," was obsessed with LiveJournal. It consumed every fibre of her being, and she would post quite often. (And still does!)

But quite often, she would be struck with a thought. Because of this, she found the community, randomthought, and would post.

But.

She never felt free to say what she really thought. Too often, she would have to spend time editing her post, thinking the thought out carefully, and then people would ostracize her for her thought. It wasn't what she wanted.

madshrubbery wanted a place to just -put- what she had to say down quickly, without really thinking it through. Like, if something struck her as odd, or if she had an epiphany, if she wanted to ask a rhetorical question, post an observation, remember a favorite lyric, post a quote, or she just wanted to make a quick shout out to something. There was no real method to the content, it was just pieces of the things floating around in her brain.

The "One-Minute Thought" was born.

After just one post, madshrubbery created a sensation with her fellow LiveJournal friends, and further posts would go on to receive many, many more comments. Finally, there was a way for her to put her thoughts down in her journal. And quite often, they would fill the void when she either didn't have the time, effort, or words to write a longer entry.

Then the thoughts started taking over. Some days, she would have more than 10 entries. She never realized the quanitity of her "One-Minute Thoughts," since she had well over 100 friends and communities filling her friends' page, and spacing out its content. A dear friend brought it to her attention that most of Rebecca's friends only had a few friends of their own, and her entries were taking over their pages. It was nothing but her, and it was a bother to keep scrolling to find other people's entries. Yes, they were still nice to read, but it was getting too much to handle.

madshrubbery agreed. And after more than thinking one minute about this, oneminthought was created. Here, every thought can be neatly placed in it's own little home, and people have the option of adding it to their friends' lists or not. Yes, occasionally she will still post a random thought in her journal, but that is only if she wants to reach a large majority of people. Otherwise, she is quite content to leave her little thoughts quietly hidden, only visible to those who care. Or want a good laugh. Or want to point at the crazy person...

For now, the community is currently closed.

You may ask, "Then why is it a community, really?"

Good question. madshrubbery is lazy. She merely turned this into a community so she could more easily add her thoughts to the journal, rather than having to log out of her own journal, and into this one to post. Too much thinking about the action could lose the quality of the thought, or discourage frequent thinking.

"So what can I do with this community, then?"

Well, you can still add it to your friends list and watch the community from your friends page. madshrubbery highly suggests creating a friends group and using the filter to make viewing of your own friends page easier. The FAQ reference to this can be found here.

"Will I ever be able to join?"

This will based on how many comments madshrubbery recieves to her entries. If the journal becomes popular, and people are willing to follow her strict format, she may add requests to join, and even eventually open the community. You may also vote on the issue here. Otherwise, it will remain closed. But you are encouraged to add the journal to your friends list and watch!

"What is the format?"

Watch and listen, my friend. Once/if the journal is made open, an official format will be posted.

"Will all the entries be public?"

Nope. madshrubbery will maintain her same level of security, with public, private, and specially visible entries.

And now, on to the insantity! =D
